I have a USRobotics ADSL router(USR9108). I want to know if its possible to diable the wireless on my router.

From night 12 to morning 5. I want the wireless to be disabled. The router is protected by password. But daily doing it just a pain. I cannot switch off my router because i have a small server.

I checked my router options and there is no option for that. I was thinking of writing a batch file and running it. But no clue how to write one.

Do i have some other option or can anyone pls help with writing the batch file. I tried googling but no success.

Thanks

And why exactly do you want to do this? Why don't you just correctly SECURE the thing and be done with it.. Do you feel that turning off the radio is going to be power savings?

I don't see anywhere in the demo interface that feature is supported. If it does not have cli access, ie ssh or telnet then you would have to use some tool to manipulate the web interface. Something like AutoIT could be used http://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/

But quite often when people want to turn off the radio its for security reasons -- which is pointless if they would just correctly secure it with WPA or WPA2 and a SECURE passphrase in the first place.

I use a program called macro scheduler for automating tasks. It will record your mose movement and keystrokes, then can play them back at scheduled times. This may work for you. I am guessing you are trying to do something to maybe keep your kids off the wireless late at night?

From the demo interface the router supports having scheduled access to the internet, it just does not seem to have a feature to be able to schedule when the radio is on or off.

dd-wrt has that feature for example.

And I do not see support for that model of USR router listed on the dd-wrt site.

The reason is late night facebookin & myspacin.

Currently i do everything manually, i will try the options mentioned. I will post back.

dd-wrt or tomato is my last resort. But for that i will have to throw out my USR & get a linksys. I was hoping they will start support for usr also.

Have you not even bothered to browse around your router interface.. You managed to find how to turn of your radio -- but did not see

You can use the Internet Access Control page to create a parental control rule that keeps certain network devices off the Internet for specific time periods. The rules can block access for a defined time period on certain days of the week.

Honestly, I just got no clue how beat up myself. I am actually shocked. I went through the manual and even checked around all the options. Still clueless as to how i could have missed it.

Really sorry for wasting all your time and adding a useless thread.

Thanks a lot

Its not a waste of time if you can now accomplish your goal, it's just a shame you did not figure it out on your own ;) which is always more satisfying then having information force fed to you on a silver spoon - hehehe

    • Samsung Galaxy XR arrives in the UK with new AI and enterprise features by Fiza Ali Samsung is bringing its Galaxy XR headset to the UK several months after the device made its debut as the first headset built on Google's Android XR platform. The headset was first teased in late 2024 alongside Google's introduction of Android XR before making its commercial debut in 2025. Developed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm, Galaxy XR combines mixed reality experiences with Gemini-powered AI features, allowing users to interact with digital content using voice, gestures, and visual inputs. While the hardware itself remains largely unchanged from the version Samsung unveiled last year, the company is using the UK launch to spotlight several software enhancements that have arrived through recent updates. Among the most notable additions is deeper integration with Google's ecosystem. Galaxy XR users can explore destinations through Google Maps' Immersive View, receiving AI-powered recommendations and contextual information from Gemini while navigating virtual environments. Furthermore, entertainment experiences have also expanded; users can watch 180-degree and 360-degree videos on YouTube, browse spatial content converted into 3D, and ask Gemini questions about on-screen content without interrupting playback. Samsung is also highlighting mixed-reality features such as Circle to Search, which allows users to identify real-world objects through hand gestures while using the headset's video pass-through mode. Another feature automatically converts photos and videos into spatial 3D experiences. Moreover, the headset now also supports Android Enterprise, allowing organisations to manage deployments using existing Android management tools. Annika Bizon, Vice President, Product and Marketing, Mobile Experience, Samsung UK & Ireland, talked about the device, stating: The headset is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 platform and features dual 4K Micro-OLED displays. The tech giant says that users can expect up to 2.5 hours of battery life. Samsung also confirmed that Galaxy XR will continue receiving software and security updates as the company works alongside Google and Qualcomm to expand the Android XR ecosystem. Galaxy XR is now available for pre-order and will go on sale on 8 July. Customers interested in trying the headset before launch can visit Samsung KX in London and selected Samsung Experience Stores from 17 June. Finally, the company will also host a livestream on 19 June showcasing the headset's capabilities and answering questions from prospective customers.
