Overclocking my Q6600 soon

Good and even better news.

The good: The Bios update actually worked, I just used the @Bios utility that comes with the motherboard as I dont have a flash drive with me. (updated to the same you are running, F6a)

The better news: My voltage is now 1.45v (in the Bios) 1.4v in windows (at idle, havnt load tested yet), so that seems to be working ok.

Only odd thing, now the "Verifying DMI Pool Data" part of booting lasts about 5 seconds. Not a huge issue, but before it was almost instant.

Anyway, all said and done I am booted right now at 3.5Ghz, with my ram running at 1050 (ram was designed for 1000, so we will see how that goes, only other option is to slow it to like 850) with 1.4v (unloaded)

Also, another oddity, I have noticed that sometimes when I boot, the Bios screen "skips" the processor section. It will be blank for slightly longer than normal, then it will start showing the ram info (which is usually after the CPU info) and wont show the CPU info. Again just odd, it seems to be working fine with or without it showing the CPU info, and it also seemed to do the same with the standard F4 bios on it. Does yours by chance ever not show the CPU info?

Ok, I am now sitting at 3.6Ghz on 1.5v (in BIOS) idle its around 1.456v, under prime it hangs around 1.408v, sometimes drops for a second or two to 1.392v. Long story short, I'm at least 15 minutes prime stable now @ 3.6, I'll be running it overnight to see if its fully stable.

Thanks for all the suggestions, though I ended up losing a mobo, its all part of the learning process and in the end I ended up getting a better O/C with the new board.

I am glad you got it up and running. As for the problem with it not showing the CPU screen.....I have two gigabyte boards which both have that same issue. It is not actually a problem, as the computer is booting up and running through checks before initializing the display.

Ok, just wanted to make sure nothing specific was wrong with my board. As I said, it still seems to run fine with when it doesnt show it.

I am now running a 3.6Ghz (360FSB), my ram is at 900Mhz (slower than the 1000Mhz its rated at, but faster than the 850 it wanted to run at with 3.5Ghz. Aside from that, its sitting at 1.5v (goes down to around 1.4v load), 8 hours of prime95 stable so I'm happy. :D

    • 26H2 absolutely will support ARM Windows just not on devices that came with 26H1. This is evident by the fact I am running 26H2, which on my MacBook Neo and Surface Pro 12 (inch), within a VM.

    • The FIFA World Cup is not US centric.
    • It’s amusing how Microsoft is pushing IT admins as if this was a major, game-changing update. In reality, it’s just an enablement package that bumps the build number, which is disappointing compared to the more substantial 22H2 and 24H2 releases. Technically, 25H2, 26H1, and the upcoming 26H2 are essentially the same, differing only in support schedules. They could have included the Windows K2 improvements here, but chose not to. The era of Windows being in the backburner continues, and this 26H2 release feels like an afterthought. Shame, Nadella, shame.
    • Microsoft, totally not confusing /s 25H2 - Current for non-Arm based Windows 26H1 - Current for Arm based Windows 26H2 - Only for non Arm Windows
