Pidgin: * Prevent use of custom smilies without "shortcuts." * Fix a crash that could appear with AIM buddy tooltips. Artwork: * General refresh of many icons in the interface. * Many cleanups to artwork source are now included in the distribution. * A new "throbber" animation has been added to indicate when accounts are connecting. Avi
Thank you for the news, night_stalker_z. :) 10.8MB... I guess it is reasonable for a program that uses GTK+ as its framework. I'm actually tempted to try it out... Currently using Windows Live Messenger 8.5. Just a few questions: - Can I send files to other WLM users? - Can I do a voice conversation w/ other WLM users? - Can I do a video conversation w/ other WLM users? - Can I send Nudges to other WLM users? - Can I send Voice Clips to other WLM users? - Will I see custom emoticons from other WLM users? Sorry if these are newbish questions... I just want to know which functionallity is missing when moving to this open-source messanger. :/ Avi. Avi
Thanks for the answers guys! Since I really need the [WLM] Voice Conversation feature, I might wait until they release a version which supports this... Brandon
I use and love pidgin, I just wish they would refresh the interface to make it look sleeker, like Audium for OSX Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/663802-pidgin-251/#findComment-589723666 Share on other sites
Scirwode
Thanks for the heads up (Y) . My Pidgin has been crashing like crazy so I hope this updates fixes all those problems. I use and love pidgin, I just wish they would refresh the interface to make it look sleeker, like Audium for OSX In a way I do agree, although I quite like the simple and clean interface of Pidgin. That said, seeing some of the transparent themes in Adium does make me want to try it out :p . tiagosilva29
Is anyone being successful in either adding or saving custom emotes? My buddies are telling me that's still a no-go. PyX
Include that damn summer of code project with the ability to use the webcam asap, I'm dying for it :p This is good news for me because I'm using Adium and because of pidgin they will soon move to MSNp15. The sad thing though, file transfers are slow. SLOW. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/663802-pidgin-251/#findComment-589728318 Share on other sites

Fish
I suppose it's too soon to expect the fruits of GSoC to be included, but does anyone actually know if it got done? I'm cynical about this. For years the Pidgin devs have avoided implementing webcam support. I wonder if they really just announced the GSoC project to stop the constant complaining from Pidgin users. The_Decryptor Veteran Posted September 2, 2008 Veteran Share Posted September 2, 2008 It's not finished yet, and it relies on other components which are also not finished.
