Hotel Forces Wounded Soldier to Sleep in Car

Recommended Posts

Being a former Surrey resident, I am appauled. Poor guy. If they couldn't give him a room that could at least of given him medical attention.

ummm, he had a broken arm, and it was in a cast. There was no medical attention to give.

this is disgusting. As others have stated, I served 4 years, and I've had to sleep in mud homes, in open sand (in sand storms), in the drivers hatch of 577 command carriers that were absolutely freezing at night with the hatch open so it was raining on me, and in little quick-errect trailers with mortars falling all around our base....not to mention inside 50 man tents with no AC when it was like 140 degrees inside...after a 15 hour mission. Sleeping in a car/floor/couch/whatever is a hell of alot better than that crap.

Some people don't realize what conditions those in the military have to live in. While I think it was crappy of the hotel to refuse service for someone who is defending their country, if it had happened to me I would've just walked out and found another place. no big deal....some people are just AH's.

It might actually be a security thing.

I go to university in Portsmouth and there's a Navy base there - a lot of bars, especially student ones, don't allow the Navy in (or only allow small groups) - simply because when the Navy are there, something usually kicks off.

I think that the Hotel needs to focus in on not letting the Government Officials or anyone who has ties to helping make the decision as to what the Military was doing that upset them from staying at their hotel. Makes a lot more sense if you ask me.

it's the political association and typical rowdy off duty soldier stuff that probably prompted it or cause the rule to be placed.

in the circumstances it sucks since he probably wasn't ddrunk or partying but yeah just stroke of bad luck it happens he should know it being in the army plus atleast sleeping in a car isn't as bad as a fox hole in the ground or anything lol.

I know unless i'm lazy and going out in public i usually remove my fatigues/uniform and don't brag so people don't hassle me too much or anything or get caught out with this sorta stuff lol always carry my drivers license and ATM cards with me so don't have to use any defense force ID.

    • Ridiculous claim that the labor cost difference of $6000 annually would increase cost per phone by $200. The employees produce 3 phones per month or what?

    • And I just bought a seat cushion for my mesh chair. The chair feels nice but the first time I sat in it with boxers, I realized I don't like the feel of mesh on my legs. 😂
