recover corrupt JPEG

I have some files I recovered including pictures from my digital camera. I can see the complete picture in the thumbnail view but when I open it, it either cannot be opened or half the picture is grey. Is there any way to fix them?

If I recall, the thumbnail is a low-resolution image stored within the jpeg file format. If the true larger image is corrupt... There is little that can be done, I am afraid.

Maybe someone else has had some more experience with this, but since your thread has gone a couple of days with no input, I am posting my limited experience to at least give you some idea of the unlikelihood of file recovery.

Damn! Not the response I was hoping to read. I have a bunch of JPEG's that I have never been able to recover. Was hoping to finally find the answer.

Hi,

The 'grey' area's your referencing are caused where the file was recovered but those sections on the storage media had been over written with other data and thus no longer the data that was there originally hence it failing it produce anything but 'grey'.
