I just discovered this show and managed to watch the entire first season plus Episode 1 of Season 2, and I am hooked. Thank God there is something to watch now that Battlestar Galactica is gone :).

It was pretty obvious, she is a Maenad, and to quote wikipedia..

"In Greek mythology, maenads were the female followers of Dionysus, the most significant members of the Thiasus, the retinue of Dionysus. Their name literally translates as "raving ones". Often the maenads were portrayed as inspired by him into a state of ecstatic frenzy, through a combination of dancing and drunken intoxication.[1] In this state, they would lose all self control, begin shouting excitedly, engage in uncontrolled sexual behavior, and ritualistically hunt down and tear animals (and sometimes men and children) to pieces, devouring the raw flesh."

The potent Blood helped lift Hung, which grew 29 percent from its debut with 3.6 million viewers, and Entourage, which kicked off its sixth season with 3.4 million viewers -- its largest audience in more than two years.

the show itself is OK, a bit too soapy and meandering for my liking. Anna Paquin isn't very convincing, but between them, Michelle Forbes and Alex Skarsgard have enough charm and skill to make up for everything and make this worth watching.

I hope so. Seeing all that unnecessary hip thrusting kinda turned me off from the show. I want to see vampires and paranormal stuff, not sex.

The first season half way through the sex is very relevant but atm in Season 2 its more myths and vamps then sex, the thing about vampires is they are known as quite an erotic mythology :p

That's probably true actually, it's only really Anna Paquin and Lizzy Caplan who has bared everything in True Blood.
