ooh Lizzy Caplan naked...nice.

Nice clip Rappy, yeah Skarsgard's pretty funny - has a killer deadpan.

I agree the show has too much sex and fluff, this is a trademark of HBO shows - not in the mature content sense, i mean they always add sex and violence to shows to attract a wider audience. Both the Sopranos and True Blood are at their core dramadies, maybe even straight up comedies, but people think of them as "serious" because of the sex and violence.

Ahh hung, not convinced on that show yet :| and yeah lots of sex in that already, and seeing what the whole point of the show I think it will always have sex scenes.

Thomas Jane is a cool actor but his voice depresses me in that show and the cast is a bit meh

Sex is a very important element in the books, as well, so it's not all HBO. :p

Any ideas on what Daphne is? I'm thinking a werewolf, or werepanther. (Hot Shot reference, yet?) I can't recall her in the books, and while she's exhibiting a few characteristics of different characters in the books (one in particular), her existence this early on doesn't make any sense for those characters.

That song at the end of the 4th episode... Supposedly called "Dig", by Headbone... anyone know where to get it? I've looked everywhere!

She's certainly something to do with Maryann, and she knows what Sam is as well so it's got to be similar and you can't have vamps without werewolves :p

@mck I want the jesus loves you song :p

See, I'm thinking she doesn't have as much to do with Maryanne as they're leading us to believe. My boyfriend thinks Daphne is using Sam to fight Maryanne or something, but I don't think it's as simple as that. I think they're trying to make it obvious that she has something to do with Maryanne just to throw it back at us that she's totally irrelevant to the Maenid storyline.

I'm thinking she knows what Sam is because she's a shifter, herself (I'm leaning very much towards a werepanther, especially seeing as they mentioned having recent Panther sightings, when they were in the morgue--makes it clear to me that they're going to reveal the werepanthers and perhaps the Hot Shot community). I'm thinking maybe she's a member of the Hot Shot community, and that the scratches on her back are from a fight with the community in which she was kicked out. OR the scratches on her back are from a pack leader ritual, in which she was the "prize", and perhaps she's going to try to recruit Sam to their shifter community.

I'm probably wrong.

@McK--No, I didn't. I never think to check YouTube. I'm not a big user of it. But thank you! I've watched the episode about 5 times this week, and I keep hearing that song in the two parts they play it. Gets in my head, and I want it! Already got ahold of "Louisiana Hot Sauce", because of that episode!

I thought you had. Sorry :p

Just a very tight-knit community in the town of Hot Shot, not very far from Bon Tempes which holds a group of "strange" residents.

Nah it's cool it seems the series isn't keep to the books anyway so it wouldn't be much help :p

Hot Shot Community sounds cool tho :p

It's keeping to the books when it comes to most of Sookie's storyline. Bill and Eric, so far, as well. Problem is that they're told from her perspective all through-out, so a lot of the side stories with other characters are unique to the show.

Hot Shot community will play a pretty big part later on, if they stick to the books regarding that. It's a pretty depressing town, actually :p

edit, wrong character!! :)

lol, i realised pretty much as soon as i hit post that i had a the wrong character! :D

god knows what Daphne is, maybe a fairy or something(!), although she and Maryann seems very 'similar' and both are interested in Sam, so maybe they are connected some way..

maybe we'll find out some more on sunday! :)

Yeah I don't like her :(

How awesome was it to Erics backstory!, Godric looks weird a bit like a Pharaoh!

Also Daphne is a Deer :p

Daphne is a shape-shifter like Sam, not just a deer or a "weredeer" :p. She can shift into any animal. They're far more rare than weres which can only shift into one animal. I was wrong about the werepanther/werewolf part clearly, but I'm still not convinced she has much to do with Maryanne!

I was a little confused with Stan. I know the woman is a servent-vamp of Stan, but was Stan supposed to be the King of Texas? He is in the book, but in the show he seemed to be another servant to the king. Maybe I just midheard and his name wasn't Stan. I'll just pay more attention when I watch the show 5 more times this week. :D

Godric is a young boy (about 15 when he was made) from Ancient Rome--that's where the tattoos are from, too. I'm surprised they stuck with the young boy thing. Also, in the books, Godric is not Eric's maker! It was a twist I could actually kind of see coming in the show, though.

I don't think I'm spoiling anything, right?

    • When will the Photos app be updated to remember the window size and position when reopened? They addressed this issue in a 2024 version of the app (though I can't recall the build number). Unfortunately, after that specific version, the problem persists! Please prioritise this fix in your K2 schedule. Additionally, the Snipping Tool has lost the ability to capture the Windows Taskbar starting from the 2024 version!

    • Anthropic pulls Fable 5 and Mythos 5 after US export control order by Pradeep Viswanathan In April this year, Anthropic launched the Claude Mythos Preview frontier model with state-of-the-art cyber and coding capabilities for a select set of companies around the world. After preparing appropriate guardrails, early this week, Anthropic launched Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, its most capable AI models. Claude Fable 5 is for general users and comes with strict safeguards, while Mythos 5 is designed with fewer safeguards for cybersecurity and biology use cases. Today, Anthropic abruptly suspended access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models for all customers after receiving an export control directive from the US government. The company received the directive from the government today at 5:21 p.m. ET, and the received letter did not provide any details regarding the national security concern. Anthropic understands that the government became aware of a method to bypass, or “jailbreak,” Fable 5, which might be the reason behind the directive. The order was issued under national security authorities and requires the company to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether they are inside or outside the United States. The restriction also applies to foreign national employees working at Anthropic. As a result, the company has disabled both models for all customers to ensure compliance. Access to previous Anthropic models like Opus and Sonnet is not affected by this government order. The company highlighted that it had developed strong safeguards to reduce the possibility that Fable is misused for tasks related to cybersecurity. In fact, many developers are complaining that the safeguards are going overboard. Additionally, the company worked with the US government, the UK AISI, multiple private third-party organizations, and internal teams to red-team Fable’s safeguards for thousands of hours. Finally, Anthropic noted that no testers have yet been able to find a universal jailbreak on Fable 5. As expected, Anthropic disagrees that a narrow potential jailbreak should lead to the recall of a commercial model used by hundreds of millions of people. It warned that applying this standard across the AI industry could effectively halt new frontier model deployments. Anthropic concluded by mentioning that it is working to restore access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 as soon as possible and plans to share more details within the next 24 hours.
