Just finished, season 2. Awesome! The only thing I have hated so far about both series is the scenes with Tara Thornton and her annoying ass mother Lettie Mae Thornton. Quite intrigued by the capture of Bill right at the end, but I'm thinking that it must be something to do with the Queen/Eric!

Australia?s Sunday Telegraph confirms that Grant Bowler has joined the cast of True Blood for season 3. Bowler isn?t saying which character he?ll play, but he?s excited about the opportunity:

?Mate, it?s HBO and it?s the King ? it?s the chance to work for an Oscar-winner [series creator Allan Ball] and alongside an Oscar-winner [Anna Paquin],? he said.

Bowler is currently co-starring on Ugly Betty as the dasterdly Connor Owens, the man who charmed even the scheming Wilhelmina. You may also recognize him as Captain Gault from Lost, which stars Carrie Preston?s hubby Michael Emerson. Bowler will be bi-coastal while filming True Blood in Los Angeles and Ugly Betty in New York, but it sounds like he?s up for the challenge.

Marshall Allman is joining the cast of HBO's "True Blood" as a regular for the upcoming third season.

On Alan Ball's vampire drama, Allman will play Tommy Mickens, Sam Merlotte's (Sam Trammell) long-lost younger brother who works at a Tire Depot in Arkansas.

Allman, who was a series regular on Fox's "Prison Break" playing LJ Burrows, recently guest-starred on AMC's "Mad Men" and FX's "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia."

The actor, whose feature credits include "The Immaculate Conception of Little Dizzle," is repped by Gersh.

Sam?s mom is MIA no more.

True Blood has tapped Tony-nominated actress J. Smith-Cameron to play the recurring role of Sam?s estranged mother, Melinda.

In addition to her many Broadway roles, Cameron has appeared on Law & Order, Six Degrees, and K Street.

As previously described in this very column, Melinda is dirt-poor, hungover, and trashy-looking. Prison Break?s Marshall Allman is on board to play her son (and Sam?s younger sib.) Still-to-be-cast is Melinda?s equally filthy hubby, Joe Lee.

Something tells me Tara?s going to fly through her five stages of grief when True Blood returns next summer.

Tudors star James Frain has just been cast in the heavily recurring role of Franklin Mott, Tara?s over-protective vampire squeeze, sources confirm to me exclusively.

The English actor, whose TV credits include recurring roles on Invasion (as Eli) and 24 (as Paul Raines), will debut in the second episode of the show?s upcoming third season.

The casting breakdown for the role describes Franklin as a tall, dark, and handsome vampire who seems to have an ?immediate and torrid? connection to Tara. In the books, Franklin is essentially Tara?s sugar daddy, but I?m guessing Alan Ball is taking the character in a different direction.

True Blood is giving Eric a new toy.

Actress-model Natasha Alam (The Bold and the Beautiful) is joining the season 3 cast in the potentially recurring role of Yvetta, Eric?s new dancer at Fangtasia, sources confirm to me exclusively.

Eric engages in a sexual relationship with his newest employee, which, if I?m not mistaken, is a flagrant violation of Fangtasia?s super-strict sexual harassment policy. (I made a funny.)

In other True Blood casting news, character actor Gregg Daniel (NYPD Blue, Desperate Housewives) has been tapped to play Reverend Daniels. Tara?s mom turns to the Reverend for, um, comfort. (I made another funny.)

The cable network is so pleased with Ball and company that, Ball relates, ?I just closed a deal to show-run [True Blood] for two more seasons, so I would assume that [the series is at minimum] going through Season Four.? - WOOT! :D

What does Ball feel is important to preserve from Harris? books? ?The main story is the same. We diverge mostly in the secondary characters. The books are sort of Sookie?s story, what happens to her. The other characters disappear if they?re not in a scene with her. And so we have diverged, certainly in the storylines for Tara [played by Rutina Wesley] and Lafayette [played by Nelsan Ellis], but we?ve tried to remain very true to the spirit of the world.?

?I think we?re always going to use the books as sort of a foundation, but I just don?t see how, as time goes on, you can?t diverge from them a little bit more each season. I don?t know, though. We?re starting to work on Season Three and we actually are really, really sticking to the books, at the beginning at least.?

?I don?t want it ever to become a show about effects. We don?t have the time or the money to do a show about effects, and I?m getting tired of stuff where it?s all about the CGI and the characters are secondary. I always wanted the effects to be minimal, just enough to suggest. I think a lot of times it?s a little scarier to leave the effects to your imagination.?

?Season Three is a big Eric [the vampire played by Alexander Skarsgard] season and Season Four is really big for Eric?s character, according to the books.?

Dawn Olivieri has joined the cast of True Blood, says TV Guide.

The actress, who played Lydia in Heroes before being killed off in a recent episode, has reportedly landed the role of Janice Herveaux.

Her character, Janice, is the sister of Joe Manganiello's werewolf Alcide, who is rumoured to become romantically involved with Anna Pacuin's Sookie Stackhouse.

Janice is described as a "tough-as-nails biker chick" who is fiercely overprotective of her younger brother.

Brit Morgan has landed the part of a villain on True Blood.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the former cast member of ABC Family's The Middleman will play the psycho ex-girlfriend of werewolf Alcide in season three.

Executive producer Alan Ball also revealed before the announcement that the role will be more substantial than originally conceived.

"She's going to be in more episodes," he said. "So maybe that will have an impact on [what actress] we can get for her, which is a big question right now."

Morgan's casting means that all the major players for season three have now been filled.

Joe Manganiello has joined the cast of HBO's True Blood.

The One Tree Hill actor is to take on the role of werewolf Alcide for the show's forthcoming third season, reports HitFix.

Alcide is a werewolf enlisted by Eric to help Sookie track down a kidnapped Bill in Charlaine Harris's The Southern Vampire Mysteries book series.

Manganiello has also appeared in How I Met Your Mother and Spider-Man 3.

Can't wait to see what these new characters bring to the table. Liking the idea of the werewolves I've never read the books ... thinking now I really should of done! Always time to start I guess.

yeah if you can get the books, they are really good a bit different story wise but still very awesome!

I just recently started watching True Blood, only by request of my girlfriend and the fact she wanted to see it. (I'm currently viewing it by way of Netflix)

Naturally, I had to stop reading this thread at a certain point because of the risk of stuff being given away. (Mind you, I'm only 6 episodes in)

My first impression of this show is: 'Boo. Dissapointment.' Though that's kinda what I had expected and the main reason I was in no rush to see it. Things are just TOO slow. I'm not one of those people who need blood, death, destruction or tons of special effects to enjoy a movie either. I appreciate a good storyl. But that is just the thing, it seems like there isn't much there. For too much dragging of the feet and repitition. Certainly nothing 'new' or groundbreaking as far as the normal everyday vampire flicks go. (And the movie and tv business is already flooded with them) To be honest, even with how each episode ends, which is what is supposed to HOOK you in, there is no 'OH MY GOSH, I JUST HAVE TO SEE THE NEXT EPISODE' reaction.

I suppose I'll give it a few more episodes before I make the final judgement though. Heres hoping.

Penny in New London, Conn.: Kristin, I need True Blood scoop!

Great news for you Jessica-Hoyt fans! HBO hasn't responded to request for comment, but I've heard that plans are under way to create a series of Jessica-centric (Deborah Ann Woll) webisodes in support of the upcoming season three. The webisodes will tell the story of what happens when Bill's little baby vamp goes out into the big wide world on her own. Will she eat everybody? Will she be eaten? Tune in to find out!

:woot:

Finally a date: Season three of the hit vampire series True Blood kicks off on Sunday (June 13) @ 9PM ET/PT on HBO.

Last September, the second season finale pulled in a fangtastic 5.1 million viewers. Will True Blood continue to pull in strong ratings?

Earlier this year, it was reported that Southland stud Kevin Alejandro joined the cast. He?ll play Jesus, an orderly who takes care of Lafayette?s mother and gets romantically involved with Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis).

Mariana Klaveno is coming back as Bill's "maker," for at least six episodes. But we will never see beloved book character Bubba, because Alan Ball couldn't figure out a way to do it without being cheesy. [EW]

awww I want Bubba!

    • So how did you solve the problem? Disabling Secure Boot isn’t a solution.
    • Another devilish issue surrounding these certificates is what can happen with old, unsuspecting PCs that nevertheless have Secure Boot enabled. In my case, it was a Dell with a 3rd-gen Core chip (so about 13 years old). As of the last few weeks, it was suddenly BSOD'g within about 5 minutes of booting. Turns out it was because of MS's "Secure-Boot-Update" scheduled task, which is scheduled to run 5 minutes after login. It's explained in gory detail here (this is not my post, but it was where I found the answer), but the short version is that this legacy system would need fairly elaborate, manual certificate intervention since MS's automatic cert update method cannot work. How to do that is linked late in the thread. https://www.bleepingcomputer.c...od-caused-by-scheduled-task Secure Boot wasn't at all important for this particular PC, so I disabled it to be done with the problem.

Silent updates now respect your custom install location instead of reverting to the default. Cancel in Review Mode no longer clears your app selections. OneNote is now detected correctly for Win32 Click-to-Run installs. Clean Start Menu applies more reliably by also writing the group policy path. WinGet errors are no longer silent — error details now show in the terminal output. Fixed a startup crash on older Windows builds caused by a .NET runtime regression. Config import now converts power setting values correctly and no longer re-applies an already-active power plan. Improvements App icons load noticeably faster and cover almost everything now, including legacy capabilities and optional features — they come from a dedicated, checksum-validated icon repository and are fetched in parallel. Software & Apps polish: per-icon tooltips, extra table columns, an app sort dropdown, relocated search, and a cleaner compact view.
