leesmithg
the proper english spelling is cheque, same with catalogue What you mean is, 'the proper French spelling' is cheque. It's a French word and the English language is made up of French and other languages from around the world. A Clockwork Lime
Loved the guy who wrote that he "says" cheque but not check. XD And yes, this just in: Different dialects and regions have slight variations of the same language. Shocking, I know. You may as well mock the British for saying "boot" (an item you put your feet in) vs. a "trunk" (a large storage container). Or how some Canadians say "aboot" for "about." curme
Check! Come on now, what would our Founding Father's say? Let's not dilute our language due to political correctness. Just because the words are homonyms doesn't mean that US citizens aren't intelligent enough to differentiate from the two. WyldPhoenix
Isn't this a similar debate to "colour" vs "color". The United States tends to shortn words so they can rember more of them. What is the colour of your car? Not color. It is generally the USA vs the Rest Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/670566-cheque-vs-check/page/2/#findComment-589809474 Share on other sites
