Recommended Posts

If you have Vista Sp1 installed, it won't work.

That is not true. I have SP1 and it works like a charm. member need to provide more info in order to get help ;)

Not sure if it would work or not--- Possibly UAC not letting it apply patch--- create shortcut to installer-- then use the run under alternate credentials-- Use administrator password... Just a thought.

I ran into similar issues with installing Office for limited users. (it needed to access cab files in a folder) but possibly it could work in your case.

It won't work, but if you want to see buttons that you can click on, hover over the blank area between the words "system boot" and "Quit", and you should be able to click one of the invisible buttons. This will let you make the interface more visible.

The patcher failed on my computer; I had to boot up on a Linux partition, mount the NTFS partition as rw, and swap the files there. You can probably do this with a LiveCD.

or maybe i can put those pre patched dll's is system32 and try this again, only problem is i seem to be unable to delete or replace uxtheme.dll, any ideas ppl?

Uxtheme Vista SP1 (32-bit)

Uxtheme Vista SP1 (64-bit)

http://www.mediafire.com/?fnbm2qqyyyy

1. First download the above files suited by your operating system(i.e., 32 bit or 64bit)

2. Now login with Administrative privileges and navigate to %systemroot%\System32

3. Right-click uxtheme.dll and click properties.

4. Take ownership of the file and close dialogs.

5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for themeui.dll and shsvcs.dll

6. Right-click uxtheme.dll and click properties.

7. Give yourself (or group) Full Control permissions and close dialogs.

8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 for themeui.dll and shsvcs.dll.

9. Rename uxtheme.dll to uxtheme.old.

10. Rename themeui.dll to themeui.old.

11. Rename shsvcs.dll to shsvcs.old.

12. Copy patched files into %systemroot%\System32

13. Reboot to take effect.

14. Now you can easily apply any custom visual style.

Add "Take Ownership" to right-click menu in Vista
