And why can't it even save drafts autmatically like gmail does??

Why should it when there is a 'Save as Draft' button? This is not an important feature which should be implemented over other more important features. Also it could become annoying to people who don't want it to automatically save drafts. It asks you if you want to save when you are leaving the "Compose Message" window. Isn't that enough?

As for the "Check new Mail" feature or button, you could just click on another folder then go back to the inbox, or use Windows Live Messenger/Mail which both alert you when a new message arrives in any folder.

But I am not constantly on the Hotmail page, am I. I have it open in a background tab and only go to it when I see I've got mail. I don't want to go there every ten minutes to manually check whether I have mail.

I asked for that three, four times on their "your mail is here, come and get it"-blog when WLHotmail was still called Kahuna. Since I did not think they would implement it, I switched to Yahoo! Mail. Shame they did not think of such a basic feature, otherwise I would have stuck with WLHotmail, but ok.
