Is that the Ikea Mikael desk? Do you have any more pics?

How is the TN panel in that 2409? I have a 22" Hannspree right now and I'm tired of always having to look dead on to avoid the color/contrast shift.

Sorry for the thread hijack.

Yes it is a Mikael desk, the corner version. Its pretty good with lots of room to store things. My only criticism would be the surface is very prone to easy scratching. Havent got any more pictures sorry, but there are some about on google http://images.google.co.uk/images?sourceid...q=mikael+corner

As for the TN panel thing my old dell 22" ultrasharp was a bit like that at times, but the 2409 is a major improvement with a fantastic image that looks great from all angles. Shame they put the price back up to ?250 now, it was a real bargain at ?199. Very very impressed with it.

I see that most people in this thread have their external hard drives standing up. So I've got a question here: Is it better to have it standing up or can I just lay it down flat on top of my PC case?

Dosent really make any difference, they are designed to be used either way. The current fashion seems to be to have them stood up verticaly on your desk.

Just a small update, did the Step Up on my 9800GTX+ to a GTX260 Core 216, wanted to hold off but 1920x1200 is kind of pushing it with anything less and newer games....

And I still need to take some better shots of the whole set up, this picture doesn't do it justice. Plus the iPod Touch is gone and replaced with a Zune 16GB...

I think i saw that in the case picture of yours before, nice and clean. :)

How's the 590?

I have a 534 on my other system, and its great.

Thanks, it took a little effort, but it has decent space to hide cables. The 590 is great, very roomy awesome air flow. It's a little big but with the size of current video cards what can you do.

i keep looking at that pc and i keep getting the feeling something is missing lol... maybe just because mine is so cluttered with fans and lights :s lol

Nah, plenty of fans, 120mm Nexus in in the front, 120mm CoolerMaster in the rear and massive air flow. The q9300 idles at 38 and loads at 47 even when the room is warmish. So far the GTX260 seems to idle at 51 and load around 68. I'm not a PC silencing nut, but I do like it as quiet as possible, you might be surprised how little value some of your fans add.

Xigmatek S1283 is king! My Q6600 is 47C @ load, too!

edit: I have to admit, though, i was a bit iffy with Xigmatek, as I never used them before. But they are nice for a middle-priced heatsink.

Yea, same here, wanted more than an AC7 Pro but less than a TRU120, this fits the bill so well.

wish i could get my setup to hide cables like that. good work. i need to get a new case...

I had a Cent 5 a couple years ago. Got some snips and cut a small rectangular hole up near the PSU, you can fit quite a few cables behing the mobo tray. I'll see if I can find my pics, but I've always been bad about keeping shots of my old builds.

I have to agree that that case isn't great for hiding cables. The 8-pin power cord on my brothers wouldn't reach going behind the board and barely reaches going over the front (and it looks terrible). It wasn't a cheap PSU either, a 750W Zalman. Unfortunately, an 8-pin extension is absurdly priced.

Off-topic, I feel like the ATX form factor has many components in bad positions (nobody would have thought it would still be around at this time I bet), but its nearly impossible to change it now, so we make the best of it.

    • I gave up on browser ad-blocking extensions a few years ago, replaced them with Adguard. Not perfect but overhaul is a nice app that does the job on both Windows and Android with the respective versions.

    • "Of course the easiest solution is to switch to uBlock Origin Lite if you want to remain on Chrome, as it is MV3-based, but from our experience, uBO Lite does not seem to be as good as the original non-Lite version" In my experience uBlock Origin Lite does the job for normal everday home users. When they kill that we get to watch Firefox and Brave get a boost in user market share.
    • Block by DNS ad blocker! I dare you! I will even layer unlock Origin, on top of my internal DNS, if I need to and I don’t even block ads today (I really should but this type of behavior makes me angry). I suppose I could also just be lazy, and add the flags myself, back to each release (it wouldn’t be that difficult).
    • Wonder what MPs have ties to these privacy/verification/data harvesting companies that are going to step in this time. Last time under the Tories half the cabinet had fingers in the pies, heck even the PM and his wife at the time was working for silicon valley, probably made a fortune.
