Cancelled TV Shows 2008/2009

Recommended Posts

prison break was getting dull, so was heroes :/.

but supernatural? it's an badass show, also some other good shows leaving the big screen.

atleast dirty sexy money isn't canceled, one of my favorite seasons, season 1 ended in israel, hoping se 2 soon.

the unit NOOO!! pls don't kill it, though im ****ed they killed hector (saw that episode few days ago), aomost cried :/, though iread about it in forum a few days before i watched it, got so mad, i knew it was going be that episode, its like i saw one second forward before he got killed, i knew what was going happen (i didn't know when, i knew he was going die, but i just knew next sec he will die, it was so obvious)

Season 1 of Terminator was good, season 2 not so much. Prison Break is shockingly good this season, they really turned that show around aftera an awful season last year.

Heroes and Chuck are the 2 best shows on TV right now, and while neither is perfect, they are far better than most other shows.

She is not happy ;)

To The TV companies[/b] : Stop using cliffhanger endings at the end of a show's season. If you decide to cancel the show then you won't have wasted our time with a non-finished storyline.

Don't remind me, remember what happened with ALF? They ended the season on a cliffhanger with him being captured, and then...cancelled. WTF? A few years later they did make a movie to tie up the story but it had none of the original cast and was just horrible.

Going back to international stations fighting for rights, FOX are kind of in a win win situation, well, at least Rupert Murdoch is! They "sell" shows like Prison Break and 24 to Sky, which comes of out of and goes back in to Murdoch's pocket anyway! So, it hardly costs the cash injector anything and then they get the added viewer subscription fees in addition to cash from other international stations that Murdoch doesn't own paying for his shows.

Conversely you can say that FOX are biting their own ass by not letting other stations (especially Free to Air - Heroes BBC, Prison Break formally on Five) stations pay for the shows. Hence they would gain revenue from an external source and not lose subscriber fees because those channels are free to air anyway.

I don't know what everyone elses thoughts on the situation is, but why should ratings matter so much when you are clearly making money? Isn't that business? Especially in the current "credit crunch" climate we are in!

Man, they should re-cancel family guy.. That one last night SUCKED.

I wholeheartedly agree. I choose to ignore every episode after the cancellation, anyway. The show is so fundamentally different that it's hard not to. That isn't to say that Family Guy isn't occasionally funny, but it certainly has "The Simpsons Syndrome."

    • It depends, but it's also going to push more adoption of open source AI models that can run locally, I'm seeing a pattern among the US and China when it comes to closed and open source AI models, they close when they feel they have the advantage, open up when they feel they don't. This has little to do with security and everything to do with control, the irony is that the ones that do go open and get the community behind them are the ones that have the real control, hence why we keep seeing this seesaw from closed to open. Ultimately, it's far too dangerous to let any one country or corporation to control AI, which is why open source AI or AI you can run locally on your hardware is very likely going to be the future of AI over the long run, this is especially the case as AI becomes more powerful and useful for user, privacy, security and censorship will become more of an issue for users and businesses.
    • A person should only be required to click through to an article if they want to know more details. The headline should give basic facts. A basic fact would include the name of the service being shut down.
    • That would probably be a good outcome, but it would also require other "features" be changed to comply, such as Auto play, scrolling, and advertising. Having the laws shift these platforms back to a socially responsible and useful places is a benefit for everyone. The addictive nature is the problem, and while many blame the individual, psychologists would suggest the platform is using a well trodden playbook to hook in more revenue..
    • It is in fact being discontinued in the US in July.
    • It was a rather nice rant as I rather dislike when people support the shitifcation of the Internet. My comment also factually applied the definition of "clickbait' to this headline unlike your comment. I have been reading this site for some 20 years now so I will call them out when they are doing carp they shouldn't be doing but thanks for your concern. You can't even do a search by headline anymore to do a quick search to find something because most of the titles lack all the relevant keywords that should be there.
