they finally get it to work with 8800 cards? it was soo hard getting passed that part after textbased installed didn't work that i just gave up on ubuntu and use SUSE..

Not sure what the problem you had was. But nVidia has supported the 8800's a long time.

And the basic 2D support is handled not by nVidia, but by the Open Source "nv" driver, which should work fine for normal non-accelerated display through the install.

Is the problem with ATI video cards fixed in 8.10 using the accelerated drivers? I have a HD2600 Pro AGP8X 512meg.
