yeah. cause 8.10 has all the features previously used at 8.04, just some further improvements as mentioned at their main website.

they finally get it to work with 8800 cards? it was soo hard getting passed that part after textbased installed didn't work that i just gave up on ubuntu and use SUSE..

Not sure what the problem you had was. But nVidia has supported the 8800's a long time.

And the basic 2D support is handled not by nVidia, but by the Open Source "nv" driver, which should work fine for normal non-accelerated display through the install.

I have a newer card (9600GT) and I don't have to use a text base install... I can boot the 8.04 live cd fine and install.... When was the last time you tried ubuntu? it should work fine.

Is the problem with ATI video cards fixed in 8.10 using the accelerated drivers? I have a HD2600 Pro AGP8X 512meg.
