[Official] Far Cry 2

maby you just have crappy aim or something cause i am able to get 1 hit shots in the head with the pistol all the time from good size distances away and up close and evan with other guns . now as far as the malaria goes i like it as it adds some realism to the game now for the game engine you may as well say that about every damn new game coming out oh the game engine is just for show to show the game nothing more
When I talk about aim, I talk about the feeling. It feel lousy and not comfortable. I'm here always swapping the DPI on my mouse to try adjusting the speed. Specially when I recon a base, I need to lower the DPI to the minimum to handle it. On weapons I need to up one or two the speed. I have set the sensitivity to the lowest level in-game.

It's FAR away from the feeling I have in CoD4:MW.

When I talk about the Engine Show. I'm talking about the thing that the engine look fantastic, it feels really nice. But when it come the the game content. It's kinda poor and boring.

I hated Far Cry 1 because of that. The graphics were AWESOME, yet it was the only nice thing about this game.

At least, Crysis have a better game to go with the Engine.

If you look at CoD4:MW, it's not the graphics and the engine that made it into the top of FPS, it's the gameplay.

The Graphic engine have LOTS of limitations in textures.

yes, on the 360 it's also one of the worst aiming mechanisms i've used in almost two years with my beloved. and don't start with the console hate, i used to be a Delta Force 2 and COD1-2 maniac on the PC before, so perspective isn't the issue.

FC2 is overall an excellent release, and the MP is fun. however, truth be told the aiming leaves much to be desired. nothing like the COD series or any other shooter i've played on the 360. come to think of it, it's a bit like PDZ.

I find something strange with the aiming, not the iron sights, just the over all feel on the 360. It feels a bit stiff or something. But I am getting used to it.

Also, head shots are 1 hit kill with any weapon.

My main annoyance is the knife kills seem to alert the everyone, which is very strange. I can't see how or why they would have left it like that... maybe a patch could fix that.

I hate Securom, after I bought and installed Bioshock and afterwords learned of the RootKit it installed, I have been very leary of Securom games since. I know its not as bad a Starforce, but still, as a paying customer I refuse to be treated as a possible criminal or to be limited to how many times I can install a game I own. I found out after Bioshock that you could get rid of the Securom it installed by uninstalling the game and then restoring your PC to a point before the install. I also used Securoms own uninstaller first just to be sure (it removes some elements but not the rootkit).

That said, if you do not already have the Securom rootkit on your machine (rootkit revealer will let you know) and you have not installed this game yet, there is a way to avoid the securom installation as long as your firewall is set to block suspicious installations as mine is (Zone Alarm with manual settings). Quite soon after the VCRedist C++ installation Zone Alarm put up a warning that something was trying to unpack securom wkt or something of that nature and my Avast anti-virus went off on mkt_temp in (Documents and Settings > My Name > Local > Temp). Right away I tried deleting the file with the anti-virus but I don't think it worked, I tried manually deleting the files and I think some were deleted but were still showing, cause when I would right click on some of them with unlocker it said they were not there. The main file, an Activation exe, would not budge. So what I did was to force a restart at that point by pressing the reset button on the front of MY PC. After the restart I manually made sure securom did not get on my PC with rootkit revealer and looking in system32 for its files and the temp folder to delete anything left over there.

There is a post in this thread where you can PM someone for a link to an official fixed exe (no securom), or if you want you can find your own, and afterwords the game will run with no Securom.

I now have both Bioshock and FarCry2 installed and working with no Securom on my PC. With Bioshock I'll admit, I had to use some scene elements to get it to that point, but if they're going to treat me like a criminal, I might as well act the part! And I paid for both games so they got their money, but I will under no circumstances allow Securom on any of my PCs'.

Tbh Im biterally dissapointed in the game doesnt feel or behave the way its advertised or been msde out to be. So many minor flaws add up and make it a truely average game. Thats not also including the many features / expectations of it that just arent there or have been poorly executed.

E.g Barrels, you blow them up. Small explosion, massive gust of air, and nothing around them catches fire. Wheres the mass fire effects and its ability to spread. Where are all the animals? Why is it feeling like an on the rails shooter? Why the crap aim? Map being bound to 5 and shared with your phone? Dodgy hit boxes and crap gore effects? Almost nothing is destructable in open areas, cant cut down grass with knife or shoot thru glass etc etc.

All Gfx and no attention to detail. I was promised intelligent A.I and something much akin to Crysis yet I get a game that altho looks the part has little of its intended ground breaking features or gameplay.

@Colcab - i agree with you, i think they were too busy talking up the awesome African Savannah, and forgot about a thing called GOOD AI. its terrible..they take 20 bullets to the chest and can still shoot back at you, they shoot at you before you even see them from ages away, they sit in the middle of the open, still not moving. i was so looking forward to this game and i can't really play it cuz the AI frustrates me soo much. Cant wait to hear what Yahtzee has too say about it.. ;)

I also await Yahtzee, and I understand the AI problem, though it didn't seem to bother me that much.

I've had no problem with the aim....what is everyone else's trouble with it?

I wish we had binoculars though - it's a bitch when you're being hit by a sniper nd you just cannot see him!

He's usually on the same ledge or tower no matter the circumstances. Just think lather, rinse, repeat.. that's how every mission in this game plays out.

We do don't we? On the 360 while looking at the map, there is a button to hold to bring up your binocs.

it's not that bad, there are animals, although not many for obvious reasons. the AI isn't as good as i hoped for but not bad either. they can surprise you. the one i agree with is the aim - it's really bad. they could have smoothed it out a bit.

    • Owing to the nature of Windows feature enablement updates, it was distributed over Windows Update services as a complete system upgrade rather than as an ordinary cumulative update
    • Microsoft confirms Windows 11 26H2, urges IT admins to prepare for release by Usama Jawad Windows 11 typically follows an annual update cycle, but Microsoft recently broke that tradition a bit by releasing a "26H1" version in the first half of this year as a "scoped" build for select new silicon PCs only. This version was not available for customers using 24H2 and 25H2 builds, as Microsoft is busy preparing version 26H2 for them, confirmed officially for the first time. In a Windows IT Pro blog, Microsoft has urged IT admins to prepare for the upcoming release of Windows 11 version 26H2. The company has confirmed that this will be a small enablement package (eKB) that will simply light up certain disabled features that are already present in the operating system's code base. This means that the "refined" Windows update and deployment experience will be simpler and quicker, with minimal disruptions, as the feature update will simply toggle a few flags rather than performing a complete replacement. Microsoft has explained that this is all possible because the standard Windows 11 releases share the same servicing branch and hence, the same source code. However, this also means that Windows 11 26H1 users won't be able to upgrade to 26H2 as that is a different branch, but this is something we have known for a while now. Similar to previous annual feature updates, Windows 11 26H2 will offer the following support cycles: 24 months of support for Home, Pro, Pro EDU, and Pro for Workstations editions 36 months of support for Enterprise, Education, IoT Enterprise, and Enterprise Multi-session editions Microsoft has not confirmed a concrete release date for Windows 11 26H2, but noted that it is "coming soon". If we go by the ongoing release cadence, we can expect it to begin rolling out in early October 2026. As such, IT admins have been encouraged to begin validating Windows Insider releases in the Experimental Channel, plan rollout rings, and strategize the utilization of their existing deployment tools.
    • Windows 11 gets new audio improvements in the latest builds by Taras Buria Today's Experimental builds (26H1 and Future Platforms, formerly Canary) pack several audio-related improvements. If your device is enrolled in the Experimental Channel (26H1), you can download build 28120.2315, while those in the Future Platforms version have build 29613.1000 to try. Here is what is new in build 29613.1000: [Audio] Following up on our previous improvements, we’re making some more adjustments to Settings > System > Sounds based on your feedback. Namely, we’ve updated the “All sound devices” page so: You now have the ability to change default devices from this page. Each of the devices displayed on this page now has a little volume meter next to it to show if there is audio actively playing. We’ve adjusted the page design slightly so now you can filter whether you’re viewing input or output devices. We’ve added toggles so you can choose if you want to hide or show disabled, disconnected, and unplugged devices on this page. We’ve also updated the input and output audio properties page for devices in Settings to now include jack information for those that need it. And here is the changelog for build 28120.2315: This update includes a small number of minor bug fixes and improvements. [Accessibility] This update improves caption style responsiveness by redrawing captions immediately for caption style changes. If no current caption is visible, a sample caption string is displayed. [Audio] This update improves the reliability of the inbox HD Audio driver. You can find the official release notes for build 28120.2315 here and for build 29613.1000 here.
    • I agree with what I think you are saying, just not in the way you are saying it. Like any tool, the amount it represents your work is perorational to the effort you put into it. It is similar to why 2nd grade math students learning to add and subtract are not allowed to use calculators, but a high-school calculous student is. For the 2nd grader, that tool would completely replace the work they are doing, for the calculous student the same tool allows them to work far more effectively while in no way replacing their effort or knowable. If you spend 30 seconds writing a prompt, then the image that comes out is no more "yours" than if you found the same image with a Google Image search. However, many of these generative tools also support highly iterative processes that allow back and forth, and merging generated images with photos or human created images. I am sure you would agree that a human spending hours of time working on a project, even if AI was involved in the process, still reflects that human's work.
