Fallout 3 review copy leaks

Recommended Posts

Why, it's not like it's their game

Uhhh obvious reasons?

It's a review copy, most likely not final.

Hundreds, if not thousands of 360's playing a review copy? Kind of obvious those 360's are modded with firmware :p

If it were a retail copy, they probably couldn't do ****, unless the rip was bad.

Afaik MS tracks people who play a game with the same signature? For example, if every retail disc has a unique signature then if there's hundreds/thousands of people playing a game with the same signature then they'd know who's playing pirated games.

I meant it was ''so true'' that he should have kept that comment to himself. I don't play pirated games nor have I got a modded 360 in any way.

I was saying that to JonathanVP too

and yes, I can see the ban hammer

The game went gold yesterday, it very well could be a final copy of the code. As the leak has XBL disabled (which doesn't matter when there is no multiplayer) = no reason to sign in anyway.

What the point of this thread ? As someone said, games are leaked all the time before the official release.

IBTL ... :ninja:

The point is hmmm like Gollum said: "it's my birthday and I want it" :p

Everyone who downloaded it said there are not "beta" or any other "not final" tags on it, anyway I'm not taking any risks

Retail games don't all have different signatures.

The CRC of a retail disc is the same for every disc within the same region.

If this copy of Fallout 3 ain't retail, then the CRC will track back to a review/beta build, something which none of the public should have access to outside of 1 or 2 people - Or a bunch of consoles within a specific building, say the 1UP offices.

The CRC of the review copy may or may not be limited to 1 disc, or a collection of say up to 12? review copies sent out to press.

Either way it's an obvious give away running a beta/review build of a game if you're average joe, not located within Gamespot offices.

Doesn't matter if you play offline, the saved files/achievement tags/any details of the game left on the system will all be associated/tagged with a beta/review build. All of which is updated to the servers when you connect online.

What I find interesting in all of this is the file size. Only 6.5GB for a game I thought was going to be huge. Not bad. Their compression must be very very good.

Every 360 game is 7.4GB which compresses between 6.4GB -6.8GB, that's because the "EXE" (XBX) signature needs it to be like that, remember that the 360 can't run unsigned/altered code, to find the real space you have to extract all files within the disk image

See Draken's comment.

I was just about to post this. :p

With the game going gold just recently, it sounds like this would be the full version but I'm sure all the piraters will be complaining soon once they find out if it really is just a reviewer's build.

I bet they did on purpose to get some free advertisement

One of the most anticipated games needs free advertisement in the form of the game leaking almost 3 weeks early and being spoiled to hell and back all over the web?

Yeah, sure

I'm just hopeful that Fallout 3 will be released on Steam, as there was a suggestion from an interview that it would be. Still, it's disappointing that piracy exists as it only hurts legitimate users - the PC is suffering a lot from piracy, what with DRM and with multi-platform games being deliberately delayed.

:o !!! nice joke ;)

Just wanted to send all the pirates scurrying to check their "high level" sources to enquire the validity of the leak... just to come back running saying "FAKE" "MY SOURCES HAVE NOTHING", etc, etc :p

    • Forza Horizon 6 gets big bug-fixing and balancing update by Taras Buria Today, Playground Games released a big Forza Horizon 6 update with a long list of fixes, patches, and balancing tweaks that the studio promised earlier. Version 375.327 is now available on Steam, Microsoft Store, and Xbox, offering users improvements for AI, audio, design, performance, road discovery, upgrades, visuals, online play, and more. Some of the most notable changes in the Series 2 update include rebalanced drivatars, particularly their difficulty and race start behavior. As such, the game should be more balanced on higher difficulty levels, and AI cars should not shoot out when the race starts as if they have rocket boosters. Speaking of difficulty, developers nerfed Drag Tires physics for a more expected and realistic behavior. They are no longer the go-to option for record-breaking times in road racing, and all leaderboard entries with drag tires will be removed. Completionists will also be glad to get a new feature that lets you see road discovery percentage in each region, which should make discovering all roads easier while keeping it quite challenging and interesting (I spent quite a long time finding the last road). Festival Playlist is also getting some much-needed fixes, including patches for bugs that allowed completing Seasonal Jobs ahead of time or where weekly challenges would not unlock for some players. Developers will retroactively give reward points to all who could not complete all challenges due to these bugs. Other changes include changes to Horizon Play progression so that it is easier to reach Level 100, audio improvements on lower-spec devices, fixes for visual glitches, including pixelated smoke, and more. Developers also addressed the currently non-working Eliminator, an online mode gamers used to farm credits with a Hummer EV exploit. Playground Games plans to re-enable it soon. As a gesture of goodwill, players will get a free McLaren Sabre. Those who used the exploit will not be banned, but developers plan to roll back credits to a maximum of 10M for all who farmed credits using the exploit. You can find the complete changelog for the latest Forza Horizon 6 update here.
