Yeah I know, It's kinda stiff to get it going, then... splurge.

Should be OK though, I tightened it pretty damn tight, so it will have all squeezed out the sides. Makes for a messy clean up job if I ever have to get back in there again though. Hope that doesn't act as an insulator now!

This is my last attempt at a fix, before I start the "DARKFiB3R Xbox360 Fund". (I can see that going well :p )

I've taken the DVD drive out of the 360 and put it in my un-used HD-DVD drive enclosure. This was not as straight forward as I thought it would be, and involved a hack saw lol. And I had to extend the DVD drive power cable, that was a right pain in the arse, but came out quite well I think.

The point of that was to reduce heat in the 360 and to allow me to fit an 18cm (I think) fan to the console. I've also cut out the rear grill to try and maximise the exhaust airflow. Added another little fan in there too, for what it's worth.

The eject button for the DVD drive is actually on the console, and not on the drive like standard PC drives. Thankfully, a cable tie was all that was needed to hold the button to the case. Looks dodgy, but there is no real force against it, so it's not going anywhere :)

It is kinda strange though, pressing the button on the 360, and having the (ex) HD-DVD drive open, but I think I can live with it.

Also, the 360 and the HD-DVD drive are now inseparable, without resorting to screwdrivers.

Sorry dude, but that white faceplate on a black 360 looks like absolute ass!

(nothing to do with it being England :p)

And man, you've put far too much effort into this - Nice work, but seriously the console is going to keep dieing dude, just buy a cheap Jasper arcade :p (at least then your faceplate will match!)

LOL I know, I know, the faceplate looks pants. It was a gift (honest) and didn't look too bad when my 360 was still white. My mate sprayed the 360 for me, but he made a right mess of the face plate. You can barely see the ring of light through it, I doubt the IR receiver works and the flaps are kinda sticky :p

I'm kinda confident that I've cracked it this time, but we'll see. The next step would be to water cool it, but at that point I'd just get a jasper.

Money is tight right now though, I've got a holiday coming up, I want KZ2 and I want to buy the parts to build my Joystick for SFIV.

I had those fans laying around so it hasn't cost much doing all this, and I kinda enjoy it (though I'd rather it just bloody worked lol ).

So... the battle continues.

I appreciate the going off of your hate to me lol. Thank you :)

The next pics I post will (hopefully) be of the HD-DVD enclosures paint job and some lighting.

I might try and do some sort of paint effect on the face plate, then match that on the dark grey part of the HD-DVD enclosure. Not sure, any ideas?

Just bought a Arcade (Jasper) + Banjo banjo kazooie N&B for ?129.99 from Game Satation:((:))

I can just plug my HDD straight into it right?>

Yes you can.

Plus that better not have ate into your KZ2 budget:pp

Yes you can.

I'm afraid it has, and my Joystick budget :'(

Should have gotten a Playstation 3... :p

Should have checked my sig ;)

I plugged mine straight in, proceeded to manually upgrade to 120gb too the other day :p

Definitely want to do that, just don't know when.

    • Because of the EU (a good thing) newer android devices been getting 5 years worth of security patches. Except some Motorola which found the loop hole, and offer ZERO updates. In addition, Google for years have been making where it can patch some stuff by updating the core Google Play Store itself.  As echoed earlier,  you take the security risk in to your own hand beyond supported.

    • Yes for me, I installed 'old calculator' (Windows 7 calculator) in its place since it is more useful to me. I think paint is the only one I left installed
