Apple Notebook Media Event October 14th.

I've been thinking of either getting an iMac or MacBook Pro and giving my MacBook to my wife. Depending on what happens next Tuesday, that will influence by purchase. If they change the MB to aluminum I hope they don't change the MBP too much - I like the current look.

Looking forward to the event, I am excited to see what they are coming out with. I switched to Apple at the beginning of the semester (I got my pretty white Macbook) so I won't be upgrading for a while but I am excited to see what they are going to do next.

*hugs his soon-to-be-outdated MacBook* :(

GPU for the MacBooks maybe? :D

Yeah, I'm sure there will be nVidia cards in the next iteration of MacBooks. Apple would be silly not to, what with Photoshop now supporting GPU Acceleration, and things like that.

There is a way to find out wether we're getting alm. macbooks or not.

Someone measure the size of the apple logo on the MBP.

Also note the size ratio compared to the overall width of the MBP.

Measure the apple logo in the ad. Calculated it should give you the size of a 13" or a 15".

Problem solved.

Only problem is photoshopness or perspective of course. But it's worth a shot.

The much-expected apple event of next week has been officially confirmed. Invitations are supposedly already being mailed.

It's worth mentioning that this event will feature laptops as the main item. Link goes to appleinsider's page.

Considering how long people have been waiting for a true MacBook Pro refresh, wouldn't it be interesting if Steve Jobs revealed the new MacBook models and then... BOOM! The keynote is over.

I shall be getting a new one as soon as they're released :D

+1!

After owning PC's my whole life it's finally time to get a MBP! I can't wait!!!

Too bad I can't step away from Windows just yet...damn you Pro/E... :pinch:

No the rumours where that the "brick" was a slab of aluminium with each macbook being machined from that "brick".

I dont think the Macbooks will get a dedicated GPU, they will probably be upgraded to the Montevina platform with GMA X4500.

They meant Nvidia GPUs not chipsets, the Macbook is Apples bottom of the line notebook i dont think they would put a dedicated nvidia GPU without a price hike, the Macbook will stay with integrated GMA. There would be no point in buying a Macbook Pro then since they use 8xxx series Nvidia GPU as well.

"They" meaning the rumours or the comments in this thread?

If you mean the rumours, those were suggesting nvidia chipsets

TUAW believes that the upcoming MacBooks will indeed be powered by NVIDIA chipsets and will be delivered on October 14th.

But the more often I read your post, the more I suppose you meant previous comments in which case I totally agree with you: No dedicated GPU in the bottom line MacBook. *Perhaps* in the new BlackBook.

I don't see GPU-powered-MacBook sales eating into MacBook Pro sales, though. Bigger screen-size and an even better GPU would be enough reasons for going Pro.

What I see is :

- MacBook Event : 3 brand new MacBook lines : MB, MBP and MBA. Then, there is a slight chance that we see a quick overview of iLife 09 and iWork 09.

- MacWorld : Cinema Displays, finally...

- Somewhere in December, without any special event : new iMacs.
