4-Year-Old Kills Himself With Mother's Police Gun

So what do you guys think of the theory that she shot her son because she didn't like that he was autistic. And made a cover story.

It's a crap theory because she wouldn't have done it in front of her other children.

Very sad news but can't understand why she needed a gun, ready to discharge, when just dropping her children off to school.

"Her 5-year-old daughter and 2-year-old toddler were in the car, but her 11-year-old son already had gotten out to buy something to eat"

Its sad...but this theory did cross my mind....11 year old was not around...she was supposedly fixing the 5 year old hair (so she would be facing away) and a 2 year old can hardly testify...but lets hope this isn't the case...because I'm sure other's investigating this will have look as all possible theories.

It's not whether the kids can testify but the aftermath of the accident. The children are likely to be traumatised (sp?) for life seeing their sibling killed like that.

Excuse me ???? Police officers in Puerto Rico are required by law to carry their handguns and have them ready at all times and it also requires them to intervene in any situation were a crime is being committed. It is a very sad incident since an innocent life was lost to the lack of common sense on her part, she should had taken both her purse and her son together because with kids 5 seconds is all that is needed for something as serious as this to happen. May he rest in peace.

Yes they are. For an officer not to have a loaded weapon would be lame. She should , however have secured the weapon better.

Im well aware how children are, but it wouldnt have been able to accidentally remove the safety that quick without its mother noticing, so its safe to assume the safety wasnt on, so i reiterate my original point.

Ever heared of a safety catch?

+1

RIP kid :/

Loaded means the weapon has a magazine fitted with no round in the chamber and made ready means it has been cocked and therefore there is a round in the chamber.

Most Police Officers use a Glock, I don't know if she had one chambered but no one would leave a gun cocked. At least not a trained Officer.

The point I was originally trying to put across was why was she dropping her kids off at school with a round in her gun? It just seems very silly to me that anyone would do that. It only takes a few seconds to do after she was well away from her kids.

I am a former Police Officer and I always had a shell chambered, not to is just plain stupid. It is also stupid to leave the weapon in her purse unsecured, meaning that it should have been in her purse in such a way as not to fall out. I don't know how a 4 year old would have the strength to pull the trigger, unless she had it modified. This officer is a Sergeant and should have known better.

Yeah, but not without the mother hearing it or noticing. Lets just leave it alone.

The mother WAS NOT in the car when the incident occurred. She was taking her other kid to the classroom in school.

Well, I was 3 years old when I pulled a hunting rifle out of my grandfather's closet, dragged it into the living room, and (for some reason the front door was open), aimed outside the house.

You'd be amazed what children can do...

(and no I didn't get an ass whoopin, but I remember them yelling at me)

I'm sorry, but where in the article does it say exactly that?

It says that she was fixing her daughters hair, it never said she was out of the car, I would assume that she was still in it or next to it since her daughter and toddler were still in it (Unless she has very long arms).
