+hayc59 MVC Posted October 12, 2008 MVC Share Posted October 12, 2008 AIMP is a powerful audio player that allows you to listen to your favorite music with an outstanding sound quality. Its appearance resembles that of another classical audio player (Winamp), so you'll get used to it very quickly. It can also be customized with skins. The program includes a 18-band equalizer, a visualization window to display rhythmic visual effects and a playlist editor to organize your audio files. A nice fading effect makes your list of songs look like an endless music loop and a handy volume normalizing feature avoids drastic volume changes between tracks. Also, the player's main functions can be conveniently controlled by global hotkeys. Besides playing music, AIMP features three extra utilities which also enable you to record any sound on your computer, convert audio files from one format to another and view or edit tags. AIMP is based on the well-known audio engine BASS, so it's easy to connect new plug-ins (from the plug-in library included in the program) and expand the player's functionalities. ? LOC Veteran Posted October 12, 2008 Veteran Share Posted October 12, 2008 I'm starting to really dig on AIMP quite a bit. I also enjoy using Spider player because of the built in radio thingie. revvo
How does it compare to foobar2000? I definitely didn't use Winamp in ages since I found foobar2000, but I pretty much ignored anything else :o Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/681304-aimp-250-build-306-final-released/#findComment-589955040 Share on other sites

th3rEsa
I rather wonder what makes this software "better than Winamp" as quite many people switch to AIMP... I guess they're all too lazy to configure Winamp right ... :) I tried AIMP a while ago, but disliked its Media Library... still the best Winamp feature... :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/681304-aimp-250-build-306-final-released/#findComment-589987092 Share on other sites

Aahz
I switched over to AIMP mainly for the last state and bookmarking features and I really enjoy the auto normalize function for podcasts. That's the thing though; I use it mostly for podcasts and only the occasional music listening session. I'm just so sick and tired of these horrible media library systems in all of these audio players. I don't want you to move my songs around and rename them. I wouldn't have ripped them myself and organized them in folders so carefully while querying the CDDB for my tags if I'd known that iTunes and WinAMP and WMP and every other damn player on the planet wants to ruin all of my hard work with their, usually defaulted to on, rearrangement of my files.(that by the way NEVER EVER WORKS PROPERLY) I don't use media libraries and I even prefer to, as with AIMP, just not install that component at all.
