Fourjays Veteran Posted October 14, 2008 Veteran Share Posted October 14, 2008 Well that really could also be taken as saying something about the lack of excitement for the PS3's shooters and the like this Xmas as much as anything. I'll agree Banjo isn't probably as big as LBP in terms of hype or anything, but it's hardly an obscure product and certainly is a big name title that will appeal to casual gamers as LBP will also. Given LBP is an unproven concept really so far in terms of market acceptance and the fact Banjo is clearly aimed at a more casual audience, I do think it's a little unfair to say LBP is the only title of both companies that is able to compete with the Wii for that section of the market. MS has a couple that most certainly do even if they aren't being marketed here as much as GoW. But I'm not on about games for casual gamers, I'm on about games that suit everyone. For my old PS1 I have many, many games - a good half only I like, the other half my Mum and sister enjoy as much as myself. This is what I don't see with the Xbox and PS3 - I just see games targeted at these imaginary groups. I'm overall pretty disappointed by the variety in genres on both systems. Both are predominantly FPSs, which bothers me considering how little difference there is between them.... and perhaps explains why there are so many. Smigit
Fair enough. I personally feel in many ways banjo will hit the exact same market that LBP is, what with it's emphasis on user content creation and puzzle solving and that. market position wise I think they are pretty much aligned just LBP has the far bigger budget behind it given it's Sony's big holiday release where Banjo is running behind GoW2 and Fable in many ways. Ayepecks
Wait... I thought the PS3 was going to dominate the holidays? :) I think it'll be pretty even, for the most part. The price cut definitely helps, though. Skiver Veteran Posted October 18, 2008 Veteran Share Posted October 18, 2008 ..... Fair enough, Netflix will probably own in America, but that's the only place where it will own, as you can only get Netflix in America. Couldn't they at least offer alternative services for other countries? All we have over here is LoveFilm. That was exactly what i was thinking, i have been considering signing up to one of these lovefilm type sites recently and when i saw this it would have made me finally go for it. I would like to think eventually they would expand this to other countries Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/681946-10-reasons-why-the-xbox-360-will-own-the-holiday-season/page/2/#findComment-589986932 Share on other sites
S00N3R FR3AK
So price cuts don't interest you? Not to the people who already own a X360.
