Have you ever Customized or Skinned your Windows OS.

There are alot of websites on the Internet on doing this but how many of you actually do it?

by customize i mean, changing the look of the Windows OS by means of 3rd Party Software, i.e changing the Boot Screen, Theme, Cursors, Icons, Modifying the Shell, ect.

If Microsoft were to develope and release a self customizable version of Windows, would you use it and what would you have it look like?

Would you have it look like Windows Vista or XP or something completely different.

I used to use Visual Styles and Icon patchers on Windows XP. Now I use Aero Glass and Vista's default icons, etc. Love it and I love the way Windows 7 is turning out as well. So I don't need any customization, but if they did add customization, I'd play around with it.

i have done it, but sometimes the applications act up and then everything looks weird and i have to restart my computer. So i stopped. One time i had everything skin and it looked nice, but things would act up, got me upset.

I used to skin almost everything, but I've been happy with Vista's appearance for the last nine months.

Same with me, I was always playing with XP but Vista's default theme is the best I've found for it. Partly because it's visually appealing and partly because it's not as easy to mod.

As much as I see the need to. XP is an allover deal with Vista Customization Pack and unsigned styles. I put a customized bootscreen which looks like Vista's but the loader is blue. Also I put the XPized logon screen and both are slipped into my XP installation Disc. I use Vista mostly and do change the logon screen with Stardock's LogonStudio Vista. Bootscreen can stay since its only there for 6 seconds (7200RPM Seagate 7200.10 you tell me :) ). I use a visual style which looks exactly like Vista Beta 1's style, I loved that concept or if anybody can, could they forward one from old media you might have of it as original is better or has the start menu layout changed?

I think I was one of the first purchasers of Windows XP, and I remember skinning it a day or two after I installed it. Luna was just awful.

Vista, on the other hand, I have not had the desire to skin. I like Aero. So I voted "Not interested" because I don't think I have anything skinned beyond what it is by default now.

I customize almost everything, as it was fun.

My desktop looks like this

Ever since I got to this combination it was left as that, now 2years+ already.

No other VS interests me anymore.

I got the login and explorer customized too.

Anyway its fun, try it if you haven't.
