Brody McKee
This isn't a complaint, more an observation. FarCry 2 pushed the whole 'set in Africa' thing... and screenshots showed very cool looking environments - and African wildlife. But playing the game, it appears that Africa is full of rebels (so people) and hardly any animals. What do others think? I'm running the game at full graphics, and yes I have seen a few animals... Soldiers33
probably removed the animals due to cruelty?
MrChuang
I was disappointed because I thought it was in the trailers and in the gameplay videos. Seems a little 'lonely' without any of them when it's just trees and grass surrounding you.
C++
Sounds like FarCry 2 needs a hidden code enabling mod Ala Hot Coffee... Maybe called Bestiality...
trag3dy
I haven't played it..but just a thought, you're a gun toting dude running through the wild, most animals won't stick around to be seen.
+Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted October 25, 2008 Subscriber² Share Posted October 25, 2008 They are hiding up trees. Seriously, go stand under a tree. Look directly up. Wait around for a little whi... Bam - you're dead!
Brody McKee
Lol they possibly were taken out for cruelty reasons... or maybe they are hiding... but it was meant to add an extra dimension to the game and it's a little missed.
ScorpioRGc1
I agree that they were likely taken out to avoid potential cruelty (and I can agree with this wholeheartedly). However, I also don't see why they couldn't be put in and just be not-shootable or damageable (but still run away from gunfire noise or fire). I think that would have been a good compromise. At the same time, no one raised a fuss over Oblivion having deer, wolves, and bears (among other animals) you could kill (except for the deer, usually in self-defense). There's also the old Deer Hunter games, too... Ah, heck, I dunno. I can see why they took 'em out, but its not like it hasn't been done before either.
erwinrom
They "maybe" add animals with a patch/expansion pack/add-on *source* :pinch:
Denholm
So the animals were removed so that they can't be shot?! That's silly. :(
WastedJoker
But...you can shoot people in the FACE. Is that ok?
Brody McKee
But...you can shoot people in the FACE.Is that ok? Yes quite. Apparently animals are worshipped like gods at Ubisoft Montreal, above man and all else. :p
Denholm
But...you can shoot people in the FACE.Is that ok? Go figure. Animal Liberationists  , you can't kill a zebra. But you're fine if you want to shoot a person in the nuts.

MightyJordan
probably removed the animals due to cruelty? Doubt it. You can shoot dogs in Call of Duty: World at War. I don't like doing it, as I love dogs, but it's there.
Huleboeren
Umm there are animals in my Farcry2 :s You have to go the open - not the jungle I saw bisons, gazelles, goats and chickens south-south

That was in CoD4 as well. Made me jump about a foot the first time one jumped on me! I didn't like killing them either, though getting my throat ripped out a few times eased the guilt ever so slightly (besides, its a game, not life. I love dogs, too, but I'm not against defending myself. :p ). I like the idea presented in that link listed earlier about predatory animals possibly being added. That would be cool. It'd be downright wicked to see herds of wildebeests charging though the open plains. :D

ViperAFK
for some reason they show up sparingly and in unrealistic places. Like zebras running around at train stations. And a lot of these animals tavel in herds but you ONLY see them in like pairs of two at the most.
NienorGT
i remember chasing chickens in crysis hahthat was awesome to shot everything moving :pAnimal cruelty? Hey FFS we are shooting humans everywhere dammit...
ViperAFK
I also recall them showing giraffes or elephants in the trailers, I have ONLY seen zebras, antelopes, and wildebeasts and only in pairs of two in weird places as well. Never in open fields where they would actually be.
Pheee
Yep i also saw many animals in the open, i knock down a Zebra in my jeep and shot its partner as it ran away. They are there, not like they took them out.
