Is it just me or should this have been for members with a certain amount of posts and over.

Don't get me wrong here, but personally I wouldn't like it that much if somebody wins with only 1 post.

Yeah its a sad fact but we have to face facts that could happen :(

cool. its nice that you all are doing this every year. ive read alot of useful posts here and i hope the site is still around in another 8 years. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

as for some being called lurkers. alot of us dont say anything unless we have something to contribute. im not much for spamming threads to increase my post count. i find it annoying having to sift through 80 posts to find the 4 or 5 that are about the post. opening it to all including new members helps to increase the member roster. and yes 90% wont contribute much but the 10% of newbies that do become regular visitors helps the site and adds to the content and quality of the forum.

The times seem iffy to me. They register, post within 1-2 minutes, and then the next register happens after that post. So technically, all those posters should have the same IP address

I think it would've been more fair to accept anyone that registered BEFORE this thread was created. That allows all old lurkers, resident one post wonders or not, or no posts period, to participate. And no account abuse too.

But I'm sure the staff have some way of finding out if originating IPs are from public proxies or whatnot.
