You do know that Windows 7 has a build in firewall ? If you use the advanced firewall, it should give you more then enough custimisation.

The advanced firewall is already present in Windows since Vista.

Yeah, but I still don't trust it. I'll have to check out Zone Alarm

avg free installs fine..all modules work except for active shield which kinda defeats the purpose don't it

I found that disabling the AVG active shield and then re-enabling it worked for me.

What AV did Microsoft use at the PDC? When they demonstrated the hiding of notification, i saw that they had an AV-linke icon, somethink like Trend Micros Office scan client, but blut (Can't remember exacly how it was) but it had some curves. Someone knowes what AV this is, does not have time to gey any picture, but wil get one tomorrow :)

Here is the screen:

Does annyone know what AV this is?

That looks like Computer Associate's (CA) Antivirus and if i'm not mistaken, MS has used them foir at least four years, because at my last company, we were evaluating CA, along with Symantec and Trend Micro before going with Trend Micro. The CA vendor commented that MS was a client of theirs. Before that, it was called InnoculateIT which I believe was bought out by CA.

BitDefender 2009 doesn't work

Avast 4.8 works

Will test Norton, Kaspersky and Nod32 tomorrow

And thanks to all people who replied, the info was handy :)

Eset Nod32 SmartSecurity 3 woks but I hated the the product; the firewall was for people who use pumpkins not PCs

Kaspersky seemd to install properly but that too was yuck

AVG Internet Security v8 did not install properly, but it could have been something wrong with my computer am not 100% sure

Norton Internet Security 2009 works! And it works well.

On a personal note BitDefender has been my favourite for some time now, but since I can't use it, Norton seems to be the only alternative. I hated Norton previously but it seems they have improved, not sluggish now.

Still am switching to BitDefender as soon as the add Win7 support.

Comodo's free security suit works like a charm for me, everything works just fine including the Anti-Virus and firewall, I'm impressed a professional program like this is given away for free, give it a try!

But what version of CA are they using? They have a lot of different products, I will keep you goys updated when I have tested them :)

CA Antivirus: Does not want to install

CA Internet Security: Same as CA AV

Any idea if the antiviruses works with x64 bits platforms or Windows 7?

I use Windows 7 x64, may that be the cause that I can't install the AV?

    • Keep in mind Intuit has lobbied like crazy to keep taxes complicated so they can continue to sell tax software. They also got caught hiding their legally mandated free version so they could release a second one that pushed countless people into charges they didn't need to pay to file. Intuit leads the charge on inventing problems so they can sell you the solution and disrespecting you in the process.
    • Oddly, there was a time that UFC games were culturally relevant, largely because of the graphics and gameplay that was different than the norm. But it seems like as the sport grew in popularity, gaming outlets stopped talking about the games.
