GTA IV for PC (official)

I doubt you'll have any trouble running GTA4 with those specs honestly. I mean, sure the game is a bit buggy and it's possible your performance may take a hit due to a bug, but with those specs you should be able to run it fine. The Gametrailers.com comparasion video would be a good way to gauge if you want to look at it like that. They were running it on a C2D as well (don't remember which model though) and similar specs to you except a 4850 video card. And it ran perfectly fine for them save for a few slow downs here and there.

the game isnt buggy, search google about commandline and you can remove the graphics restrictions and run your game faster, trust me commandline works really well.

Also i love this game man but its hard to find ranked servers with alot of people in them to play multiplayer hem hem :p

I get no slow downs

1680x1050, Very High, High

Geforce 9800GT Hybridpower

22" LG LCD 2MS

Quad Core Q6600

anyway go find yourself Nvidia v181 drivers, they might make an improvement but i think the new release brings support for OpenGL 3.0 only and no speed improvments.

:)

What would be better on, retail or stream? since I already use stream a lot.

I'll try those 181 drivers, but I heard people still getting the same black screen as i do with 180.xx drivers.

Well Steam installs the game to steam folder but it will still run through Windows game live and also Rockstar club, So basically it doesn't matter what you choose, If you got 14GB free to download through steam then go ahead or connect to a free quota steam content server to get the files free after you purchase it.

I will let you know my FPS later, i get no skips and can speed through levels without slow down so i'm pretty sure i get decent fps

I get no black screens, what do you mean? in graphics settings remove all the distance viewable etc and place on 0, all settings on 0.

I'll guess i'll buy it, since i cba downloading it n be much easier.

Theres a known problem with a few nvidia GFX cards and the 180.00 drives where in my case, it black screen during installation so its only half installed and total screws windows up.

A-lot of people are having this problem and currently discussing it on the nvidia forums.

ATM my current drivers are 178.24.

Here's the post if ur interested:

Well it's wierd i have a Gigabyte EP45 Board with Nvidia 9800GT Hybridpower and i have used all 17x's and i had been running 180x's for a while now and just installed 181 this morning with no problems. I will plat GTA IV tonight and let you know.

Windows Vista SP1 :)

There's a new mod tool out called Alice, hooks into the GTA app and provides Lua bindings for the in game script engine, one of the examples that come with it is an infinite health + ammo script.

And due to GTA's bad multiplayer design, you can play online with it running and never lose in deathmatch. But more importantly, this should allow for some interesting mods in future.

GTA IV is running great on my new rig. I upgraded to an AMD Phenom 9750 from an Athlon X2 3800+ and my game is so smooth. I've used various video card drivers with my 9600GT and I've found the best drivers to use are either the new 181.00 or the 180.87 driver.

Just got a copy of the game and done a few benchmarks:

What's interesting is the CPU.

Only 50% CPU Usage and its reporting the wrong CPU, its meant to be Q9450 :s

Is is meant to be -norestriction or -norestrictions (with S on the end?)

    • Can you read? I've said I'm willing to pay more for a notchless (no notch) 3:2 screen.
    • Not even an OLED display on the laptops. Also it seems that the laptop design isn't the same as the Surface Ultra model. Looks like bargain bin at high prices.
    • make your own notch - it's not that hard
    • VirtualBox 7.2.10 by Razvan Serea VirtualBox is a powerful x86 and AMD64/Intel64 virtualization product for enterprise as well as home use. Targeted at server, desktop and embedded use, it is now the only professional-quality virtualization solution that is also Open Source Software. Presently, VirtualBox runs on Windows, Linux, macOS, and Solaris hosts and supports a large number of guest operating systems including but not limited to Windows (NT 4.0, 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista, 7, 8, Windows 10 and Windows 11), DOS/Windows 3.x, Linux (2.4, 2.6, 3.x, 4.x, 5.x and 6.x), Solaris and OpenSolaris, OS/2, OpenBSD, NetBSD and FreeBSD. Some of the features of VirtualBox are: Modularity. VirtualBox has an extremely modular design with well-defined internal programming interfaces and a client/server design. This makes it easy to control it from several interfaces at once: for example, you can start a virtual machine in a typical virtual machine GUI and then control that machine from the command line, or possibly remotely. VirtualBox also comes with a full Software Development Kit: even though it is Open Source Software, you don't have to hack the source to write a new interface for VirtualBox. Virtual machine descriptions in XML. The configuration settings of virtual machines are stored entirely in XML and are independent of the local machines. Virtual machine definitions can therefore easily be ported to other computers. • OK, now ask yourself how are they going to enforce that law? By requiring every single adult to prove their age and provide their legal identity documents to an UNREGULATED 3rd party company that already has a long track record of multiple data breaches. Not to mention, parliament have voted AGAINST this ban, twice, and Starmer is going ahead anyway. So, where's the democracy here, because that looks like dictatorship to me. The solution here is parental responsibility, not government control. Run some public service announcements on TV and UK social media teaching parents how to setup parental controls. That's already been proven to actually work. But the, this is not and has NEVER been about keeping kids safe. It's about control and monitoring. Watching what you're doing online and controlling what you can see and what you can say.
