That is a marvellous performance dude. Which GPU have you got?

Here's my full specs;

Motherboard: Asus P6T/WS/Professional

CPU: Intel Core i7 940 ( Stock - 2.93GHz )

RAM: 3 x 2048MB Corsair PC 10666

GPU: Gigabyte 4870X2 2GB

PSU: Seasonic M12 700w

OS: Windows Vista SP1 X64

Really wouldn't think the game could suck up 93% of a 4870X2 :/

Would you rather it sucked up a mere 50% and left the other 50% idle and to waste? If you've got it, use it :p

Yeah the game is an absolute horror. Nevertheless, a great rig you have got there. :)

In case anyone still cares, new patch is out;

http://www.rockstargames.com/support/IV/PC/patch/index.html

Version 1.0.2.0

GRAPHICS FIXES / ADDITIONS:

* Graphics Menu:

o Added "Water Quality", "Shadow Quality" and "Reflection Resolution" sliders in graphics menu.

o Added "Definition" and "VSync" toggles in graphics menu.

* Rendering optimizations.

* VSync optimizations.

* Nvidia 7000 series

o Mirrors fixed

Game is definitely a lot smoother and at default settings, boosted me from around 45 FPS average FPS to a bit over 50. Though with the new options I've been tweaking a lot, increased some sliders and decreased others which is now giving me a benchmark of 51 FPS, though a lot smoother than before. Also, Dynamic Shadows are back for ATi users (Y)

There's still a part of me that believes this game will one day be playable and enjoyable. I've installed the latest patch (thanks Sethos). Hopefully it'll improve my performance.

I'm liking this new patch, now I can run with high resolution textures but turn down the resolution on the shadows and stuff I don't care about, and was able to increase my view distance and my frames per second increased from about 35-40 to 45-50, at least they are sorting things out now.

Never had an issue running the game apart from the fps issue, i installed Patch 1.02 last night and played multiplayer last night, but now everytime i go and play the game the game will just completly lock up, music will go into a loop and i have to reset the PC.

This can happen at completly random times, the longest ive gone is 2 hours and the shortest ive lasted is 1 minute

Spec

AMD Athlon X2 dual core 6000+

4gb ram 6400

geforce 8800GTX - 868mb

onboard sound chip (soundmax)

Same issues under Vista Ultimate as i have under Windows 7, all drivers are upto date and system is stable

Been playing it a bit the last few days, they finally got rid of all the microfreezes and that 'loading' effect when you first exit your safehouse, everything drops to 10 FPS while looking around. Game is now running smooth constantly! Though I did have a weird FPS dip, drove into a police parking lot / impound yard and my FPS just dropped to between 0 and 1 for like a minute, then it suddenly recovered :blink:

But this game at 45-50FPS average is f*cking brilliant (Y)

Should I buy it on Steam or buy the actual physical copy? Will the updating of the game be any different?

Pay and get an online copy with long installation times (due to the downloading) and delayed patches or pay the same and get a physical copy with fast installation times and quicker patch releases.

I wouldn't say fast installation time, its taking around 40 minutes for most to install.

You do know you can use the 'retail' patch on the Steam version, right? So you get them just as quick. Plus it takes me less than 3 hours to download all 15GB off Steam, that's about a trip to town for me, plus the Steam version was cheaper at the time of purchase.

So it all depends on the situation.

If the price is the same, my suggestion is that you get the physical copy. Yes, it will take a little space in your room, but to me it feels like you'll be on the "safe side" with it (except if you scratch, damage the disk). Who knows, Steam might just die someday. :)

The patch hasn't boosted my performance but it has improved things quite a bit. The game loads faster and I don't experience any stuttering or sudden drops in frame rate. I average about 30-35 FPS at 1680x1050 with reasonable settings. So far, I'm content. I could be happier though.

Alright I bought it off of Amazon on Wednesday and it came today and I have been playing it. The sound is weird. The music is louder than the voices and sometimes there is no voices (when on the phone or they are talking in the car). How can I fix this?

System Specs:

CPU: Intel Core i7 920 2.66Ghz

Mobo: EVGA X58

Memory: 6GB OCZ Platinum

GPU: BFG GTX 280 OC2

OS: Windows Vista Ultimate x64

Graphically what is the difference between GTA IV and Fallout 3? I personally found no differences at all. Optimizing this game is a pain in the ass. Rockstar should learn something from Bethesda. Although Bethesda's games are not devoid of bugs, at least they are optimized nicely for even mid range PCs. Oblivion and Fallout 3 are such examples. Mid range computers are struggling to even run GTA IV.

I play this game at 10-13 fps on my Pentium 4 3Ghz, 1,5 GB ddr, ati 3650 AGP 512 MB

Not cool at all, even crysis on 1280x1024 works ok with medium-high setings.

:(... Guys, i made up a config for a new pc i wish tu buy....but i ended up close cu 2000 euros.

I have to wait 2-3 months for that :)

i7 940 CPU

asus P6T deluxe MB

2x Kingston - DDR3/1600MHz 4GB Non-ECC CL9 (8g total) RAM

ASUS - Nvidia GFGTX295, PCIE 2.0, 1792MB GPU

I just hope gtaIV will run on this config.

So here's a silly question... I have an Acer Aspire 6930 laptop with a Core 2 duo 2.0ghz processor, 3gb RAM, and Realtek onboard HD audio. My graphics, on the other hand, are powered by an Intel "4 Series Express Chipset" that is able to use up to 1gb of memory solely for graphics purposes.

I haven't been able to find any equivalence comparisons to nVidia or ATI GPUs, so I don't know where it stands as far as the required specs go, but, as a benchmark, I'm able to run Bioshock at low settings just fine. I've got DirectX 10, and my drivers are all up to date, too. However, when I try to run GTAIV, I get the depth rendering error and the game crashes before I get past the copyright splash screens.

I've been told by games before that my GPU isn't recognised, but I've always been able to play anyway, and usually with great results. Is GTAIV just tossing me off because it doesn't recognise the GPU, or does it actually check to see if my hardware is capable of doing what it needs to? Anyone know a way of getting around it, if it's just snubbing my onboard?

    • Microsoft brings Planner Agent to all Microsoft 365 Copilot users by Ivan Jenic Image: Microsoft Microsoft has announced that Planner Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot is now generally available to all users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license. Planner Agent is the latest addition in the string of AI features that Microsoft is implementing across virtually all of its products. The agent lets you manage tasks through natural language prompts directly inside Microsoft 365 Copilot. You can create and update tasks, check priorities, and get insights about current entries without leaving the chat interface. The general availability release comes with a handful of new additions on top of what was available during the initial rollout. A new plan picker lets you search and filter your plans by name, then update task names, statuses, due dates, or priorities through the agent. There's also a goals bucket now, which lets you group tasks under specific goals. This builds on the Goals view, a feature that was introduced as part of the broader Planner refresh that rolled out earlier. Image: Microsoft | Planner Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot All AI-generated plans and tasks are created in draft mode by default, so you can review and approve changes before anything goes through. This is actually a thoughtful safety feature, because trusting AI to handle all your tasks without a human in the loop is usually a recipe for disaster. Having tasks initially saved as drafts is the best possible middle ground. Microsoft also says that not all tasks are executed equally. Simple tasks get processed quickly, while more complex ones, like building a plan from a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file, are handed to a more capable model. Microsoft says this approach delivers the best performance, but it could also help with usage management, as you won't have to waste tokens on performing simple tasks. Planner Agent is available now across Teams, Loop, SharePoint, and other Microsoft 365 apps for anyone on a Microsoft 365 Copilot subscription.
    • To be clear I'm anti trump, the bigger point is why review this game at all?
    • Trillion dollar Microsoft has to reduce spending by hurting more people. Good job Microsoft. Good Job Asha.
    • That's a shame. The big Xbox reset when Phil and Sarah left and then Asha came on and brought a new team of executives, and all the layoffs last year and saying that the ABK merger wouldn't result in redundancies I am surprised they are calling for yet another reset and yet more layoffs.
    • Arkane, Ninja Theory, and Double Fine might be on the chopping block too.
