Ok I am running windows7-64 and its working great so far, but itunes refuses to work. I ran the installer for windows 64 version 8.01 and that went fine, but when itunes starts it never shows up. Its running but never shows up. (crashes?) It takes several minutes to end the process in task manager. Anybody else have this issue?

If you remember Vista used to have major issues with iTunes when you had x64 Vista. I wouldn't expect Apple to support this until Beta 1 :(

Yeah I run Vista32 so I was not sure of the status of how itunes runs on vista64. Is it broken on vista 64 as well?

I had x64 installed and iTunes 801 x64 ran fine. When I connected my iPhone it said I had to install the 64 bit version though. I installed x86 then iTunes 801 x86 and it worked. I then I installed x64 again, installed 801 x64 and it works. Only difference is that the second time I did it, I was not using my iTunes library off my NAS box... Seems to me that an existing library is a bad thing but using a new on works fine. Not tried an upgrade from. Vista x64 though where it works fine.

Just my 2 cents worth...

Find something else in the mean time. A lot of people even said Apple was personally derailing Vista by not even supporting the OS at RTM. They have a lot of clout with that little crap that's getting bigger by the versions. Also, its beta, so not surprised you are seeing compatible issues.

You are talking vista64 right?

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple ever updated iTunes to work with Windows 7. After all, they could then claim that Windows is "broken," and it's one more reason why you should "Get a Mac."

Let's not forget that even after Apple shipped iTunes for Vista, they still refused to tie it into DWM.

I only use itunes to listen to podcasts and update my iphone. I can always boot into vista. For music playback I use foobar. I just wanted to listen to a podcast and wanted to got itunes working. The only reason I use itunes for podcasts is because I listen to the Adam Carolla show. The show is normally divided up into like 13 separate parts with the begining of the show at the bottom and the end at top. Many programs will not let you create a custom playlist with podcasts and change the order so its endlessly annoying to watch a show that is posted to the rss in "reverse." I wish they would just post the show as 1 file and be done with it!

iTunes 8.01 works perfectly fine for me on Windows 7 64 bit. I don't have a problem with it loading at all.

Try running it in Vista compatibility mode. That usually works for most apps. I've also turned off UAC, although I doubt that's the problem for any of you guys.

I wonder whats going wrong with me then. I guess I will try to reinstall the OS and try again. Vista compatibility mode is a no go. :(

EDIT: Are you using the 32bit install or 64 bit install?

    • O&O ShutUp10 3.1.1104 by Razvan Serea O&O ShutUp10 offers a simple yet effective way to take control of your Windows privacy. It provides access to almost 50 privacy-related tweaks, most of them hidden or not easily accessible to the average computer users. Using a very simple interface, you decide how Windows 10/11 should respect your privacy by deciding which unwanted functions should be deactivated. Using ShutUp10 you can easily disable Windows Defender, turn off telemetry, disable peer-to-peer updates, turn off Wi-Fi Sense, disable automatic Windows updates, turn off and reset Cortana and more. ShutUp10 allows you to create a System Restore point before you apply any changes, so that you can revert your system at any time if you run into problems. O&O ShutUp10 is entirely free and does not have to be installed – it can be simply run directly and immediately on your PC. And it will not install or download retrospectively unwanted or unnecessary software, like so many other programs do these days! O&O ShutUp10 Free and Premium The latest version brings O&O ShutUp10 Premium, expanding the app’s long-standing privacy controls with automatic enforcement of user-defined settings. Instead of manually rechecking options after every Windows update, users can set their preferred privacy configuration once—or apply recommended settings in a single click—and the tool continuously monitors them in the background. If Windows 10 or 11 re-enables disabled features or introduces new data collection paths, Premium restores the chosen settings automatically without user intervention. The free version remains available and fully functional for manual adjustments, offering the same core privacy controls for Windows. However, the Premium tier is aimed at users who want long-term, hands-off protection, adding automatic reapplication after updates, ongoing monitoring, and optional notifications to ensure privacy settings remain consistent over time. • Fascinating...W h i t e P o w e r is now also asterisks out.
    • In the past few days I have noticed two odd moderation activities. First, when I posted the term 'White Nationist Christian' it was asterisk's out. When I changed it to **** it was allowed! Second, in the Politics is a ###business thread I was allowed to post that the GOP is a party of p e d ophiles but I was censored  when I posted the GOP are a party of p e d ophile protectors. Wtf Neowin. Please explain.
