[UK] PS3 wireless keypad gets date, price

Recommended Posts

Sony has told Eurogamer that the wireless keypad for PlayStation 3 will launch here on 28th November for GBP 24.99.

This handy piece of hardware, unveiled during the Leipzig Games Convention, clips into Sixaxis and DualShock 3 controllers and apparently looks a bit like a Blackberry keyboard.

It also includes a touch-pad, like a laptop, that handles mouse input - which should make using the PS3 web-browser much easier.

On top of that, there are shortcut buttons for quick access to Communication and Message Box, ensuring navigation is short and snappy.

Look out for our thoughts on the wireless keypad closer to release.

Maybe if I could snatch it for ?15 I would.

Thanks quite tempting.

I hate typing messages out

I have a wired USB keyboard at the moment, or just swap the IR receiver out from my laptop. As posted above though I will be getting the Logitech Bluetooth keyboard for Xmas which will be a welcome addition.

I sit too far away from the PS3 for a wired keyboard.

Wireless would be nice, but it's clunky.

If I can get this on the cheap it's small and compact, plus acting as a motion sensor for the mouse on the browser is quite handy.

Browser integration on the in-game XMB is something I want, would be useful for the likes of Gamefaqs for games (Y)

Gonna wait till it's reviewed but to make sure it's decent.

I thought it was user made/photoshop.

If that was real, epic win

Nintendo showed a prototype model of a GameCube keyboard for Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II.

See it ? Screenshot Index ?

At E3 2002 last week, Nintendo showed a hybrid of a keyboard and GameCube controller for the first time in North America. The odd-looking controller is essentially a stock GameCube controller split down the middle with a miniature keyboard inserted in between the two halves. Players can play games as they normally would, as the keyboard includes all the buttons of a normal GameCube controller and the keyboard itself. It is smaller than standard keyboards, but it works quite well for typing.

Nintendo has not stated when the keyboard will be released in North America. Ascii has developed a similar keyboard controller for the Japanese market, though Nintendo has not stated whether the controllers on display at E3 are from Ascii as well.

Where is that, then?

EDIT: "Push the 'cursor mode key' and, the surface of keypad can also be used as a touchpad just like a mouse"

Sounds..... dodgy. I still want one though.

    • This 4K webcam from Acer is now only $59.99 by Taras Buria Those looking for an affordable, high-resolution webcam from a reputable manufacturer can check out the latest deal from Acer, which puts its 4K webcam at a solid price. Thanks to a 14% discount, you can buy this all-metal 4K webcam from Acer for just $59.99. Despite the affordable price tag, the webcam has a pretty large 1/2" CMOS sensor manufactured by Sony. Apart from its size, it supports additional conveniences, such as high dynamic range and phase-detection autofocus (PDAF). Plus, the camera ensures you do not have to buy additional audio equipment, as it comes with two built-in high-sensitivity microphones, a built-in background noise filter, and the ability to pick up your voice from up to 2.5 meters away. Acer is not cheaping out on materials, and the webcam is enclosed in a more premium metal case, which is also good at heat dissipation (high-resolution cameras can get quite hot). And to make sure no one is peeping at you when the camera is in use, there is a magnetic cover also made of metal. Additional conveniences include an LED status indicator and a built-in mount that lets you place a camera on a tripod.
