Gmail: now customisable.

Woke up just now and I have the themes on my main account now, dont have it on either of my junk accounts (2 of them) yet. Maybe it could be alphabetical? My main accoout would fall before (alphabetically) than both of my other accounts, and it got the themes first. Anyone with an account name below starting with "M" that has the themes yet?

I just got in.

I love the Shiny theme.

Not sure.

Mine's my full name.

I think the craze is a bit much for their servers. I still haven't received the feature either. Be patient. ^_^

One reason I was so confused is because my brother works on the GMail design team. I thought I'd get almost instant access.

I wrote my brother complimenting them on the new themes..

He said he didn't have much to do with them at all but if you use the Mountain theme, you'll eventually see a picture of Mt. Rainier in Washington.

He took that picture. :)

Finally! This was the one thing that made me hate Gmail - The horrible user interface! I know a few people out there, even a blogger on CNET who said that Gmail is for the technological elite and therefore we don't need fancy UIs, etc. How wrong is that!? and how messed up is that logic? I am a software engineer and I much prefer to have a nice design as well as features. Gmail does have some very useful features, but, for me, Hotmail always had the features and the user interface, therefore I used Hotmail because Gmail was to ugly for me.

I may check out Gmail now it has themes like these - some of them look brilliant. As much as I still love the default interface of the new Hotmail and the new features planned (Messenger integration, Windows Live Wave 3 integration altogether, user interface refinements such as placement of the ad changing, etc), I still hate their current lack of Themes and the fact that we can no longer choose different colours of the default theme

    • If someone chooses to continue using SB and therefore goes through the manual intervention in the thread, afterwards the BSOD problem is gone. Whether they then re-enable the task doesn't matter, they're done, though on such machines it might pay to keep it disabled in case the next update (if there is a next) causes the same problem. OTOH, if someone disables SB in the BIOS, the problem is also gone. Incidentally, I noticed that this task exists even on machines that don't support SB. It's just installed across the board...and runs. Doing what on such machines is a little hazy.
