Bus Driver Accused of Braking Hard to Topple Pupil

Recommended Posts

AMBRIDGE, PA (AP) -- A school bus driver will be charged with endangering a 10-year-old boy for intentionally braking suddenly so the boy would fall down, police said. The driver was upset because the boy would not remain in his seat, Harmony Township police Sgt. Jim Essek said. The driver told the boy to stop moving around before allegedly threatening him by saying, ''If you do it again, I'll knock you down,'' Essek said.

When the fourth-grader moved around again, the bus driver hit the brakes.

The incident happened Tuesday in the Ambridge Area School District, about 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. Police Chief Jack Lively said police will not release the driver's identity until charges are filed, likely by Monday.

Police have seized a surveillance video from the bus. The boy was knocked to the floor out of camera view, but is seen getting up holding his face. Other students are knocked around and one is flipped over a seat.

The driver and the boy have had run-ins before, parents said.

The boy's mother claimed he was ''singled out'' for discipline when students got rowdy in the past and asked school officials to have someone monitor the bus. Lively said the monitor was on the bus Tuesday, but didn't get out of his seat to intervene.

School officials said they are reviewing the incident.

Ummm, I'm all for tough love but I think this bus driver deserves to be prosecuted... There is a difference between beating one problem child's ass red in a controlled environment and putting in harm's way an entire bus full of children, with the actual amount of physical harm inflicted to them left to chance, in the middle of a road.

That bus driver should NEVER be allowed to drive a bus again. The child may have been disobeying the bus driver and not staying in his seat, but that does not give the bus driver any reason what so ever to turn violent and slam the brakes harming a child and other children also on the bus. He could have killed someone. I hope that bus driver gets a harsh punishment.

What the child was doing may have been against rules/regulations but there are other routes to punishing the child the driver could have taken. The child is only 10!

And someone actually believes the word of a liitle **** that has a problem following simple instructions? Its funny how some of you automaticaly jump to the defense of the kid and condemn the driver who for all you know may have done nothing untoward and who may be getting the poo covered end of the stick from some little ****** who didnt like being told what to do. I mean its not like kids exagerate or just completely make crap up is it?

That is the most stupidest thing i have ever heard! no one is going to die on the bus just from slamming on the breaks only injured

the bus driver in a fairly controlled environment taught the kid a lesson and why that little **** needs to stay in his seat

what if the bus driver actually had an accident and crashed into another vehicle? think about it that kid would of went flying and then everyone would be accusing the bus driver for not telling this little retard to sit in his seat and it would be his/the schools fault

the bus driver did a good job and if that little **** wants to disobey simple orders then he can just walk to school and probably get hit by a bus because some other little **** is distracting the bus driver :p

umm i didnt mean the people on the bus being killed or injured, But slamming the brakes on in anger could have led to other cars behind crashing into the bus.

Well i dunno if it would kill someone but its not a safe thing to do, just slamming brakes on in a roadway.

just from what i've read it seems like he knew what he was doing and he may of done it when there was no cars behind him and there was a low chance of their being an actual accident most people aren't entirely dumb either way the kid got taught a lesson and hes still alive i just feel it could of been alot worse had the kid been disobeying and standing up when the bus driver gets into a real accident

the school would be in a whole new level of **** and the bus driver would have to live with that tragedy

its sad that the bus driver had to teach the kid a lesson...where was his parents? they claimed hes had encounters with the bus driver before so why havn't they taught him the right thing to do?

In middleschool my bus driver would do this, it was funny because no one ever got hurt, and we would usually laugh about it. She did it randomly to new kids usually, good times.

She wouldn't "slam" on the brakes though, just enough to get them to jolt if they are moving around.

Its funny how everyone springs up to support the kid. No wonder kids are out of control. This sort of support encourages them to think they can get away with anything. When you are told to do something for your own safety you do as you are told and when you decide not to then don't complain about the consequences.

Its "may have" not "may of".

Serves the kid right. He didn't obey, and he suffered the consequences.

why should he obey? he's not a slave, nor he's a dog

the fact that you people are used to obeying isn't anything you should brag about.

You are very right about that statement, who knows how many times the kid had been told to stay seated...

If the driver simply did a 'break check', you know, just tapping the breaks, that should have been enough to cause the kid to lose his balance and fall down. I ride the city bus all the time, and when I have had to stand up, it can be very dicey, not just sudden breaking, but acceleration can have the exact same effect. Would anyone complain if the bus driver 'peeled out'? Probably not as much as they seem to with him hitting the breaks!

but he is right. constntly obeying is slave mentality.

So... if you're about to step out into the street and get hit by a bus and I yell at you to stop are you going to tell me you aint a slave? Get real. Theres a massive difference between discipline and slavery, if you dont know what the difference is then you're a retard and part of the reason we have a generation of kids who feel they can do what the **** they like without consiquence. Liberals, who needs them.

    • Google pitches Spanner as one database for all AI agents with these new featues by Karthik Mudaliar Google Cloud is introducing new features within Spanner, its distributed database, as a place where enterprises should keep their data, using which AI agents could make smarter and better decisions. In a detailed blog post, Google highlighted quite a few features coming to Spanner, including relational data, graph relationships, vector search, key-value access, full-text search, and operational analytics together in one database architecture. Google says that today's systems aren't well-made for AI agents. There could be data that is present in one system, search indexes in another, embeddings in a vector database, and relationship data in a graph database. This fragmentation isn't great for AI agents to do their jobs because they don't have access to all of this data in one place. This is where Google is positioning Spanner as a solution. Spanner is already a globally distributed relational database with strong consistency, and Google wants its customers to see it as a broader data layer for AI applications. The company introduced something called Spanner Graph, along with integrated vector search, full-text search, a Cassandra-compatible key-value endpoint, and a columnar engine for analytical queries on operational data. Google also added that its ScaNN-powered vector search can support indexes with more than 10 billion vectors, while the columnar engine can make some analytical scans up to 200 times faster. All of this isn't just exclusive to the Google Cloud Platform, and there's support for multi-cloud as well. This comes via Spanner Omni, which Google says is a downloadable, containerized version of Spanner that can run on Kubernetes and in environments outside Google Cloud, including Microsoft Azure and AWS, and even on-premises infrastructure as well as edge deployments. Google says that customers who are interested in the full-featured edition should contact the company, and there's no word on commercial availability or separate pricing. Those interested can read the full blog by Google Cloud, which details these features individually.

    • They have lots of info on me, I have a facebook account and have done so for years, it was the thing to have then. My phone number is not on it. I don't have the Facebook app on my phone these days, just the messenger part, and only for a couple of people to contact me, most will text me via SMS or phone. I agree, Meta, like others, even without an account will know something about me. Just have to try and keep some things private Also, never saw the need for Whatsapp, people used to ask for me to join it, but as I said to them, I have SMS and a phone, use that, or email
