ikonizer
Same thing happened to me. I'm wondering if one of Microsoft's updates screwed with it.
-Hiroshi-
Why bother with that when you can just patch the themeing files directly in safe mode?
Panda X
Why bother with that when you can just patch the themeing files directly in safe mode? Honestly. VistaGlazz is a poor excuse for a program. You can also patch them without going into safe mode.
PsiKoTicK
You guys are so leet. I wish I could be as leet as you, and poke fun at someone who is trying to do things the "easy" way (or, possibly, they don't LIKE manually changing system files, even ones that won't "break" windows, necessarily). Seriously, get off your high horse. Either explain another method, in detail, without talking down the person with the problem, or don't say anything. You're not contributing in ANY way to the person's problem. And now, neither am I, cuz I'm bitching at you. Meh.
Denis W. Veteran Posted November 25, 2008 Veteran Share Posted November 25, 2008 ^^ Your post wasn't helpful either. :p But here goes. ALTERNATE WAY TO APPLY UXTHEME PATCH 1) Download the 32-bit patch or 64-bit patch. Extract the files to your desktop. 2) Install this right-click menu item. You don't really need this if you know how to take ownership of files. 3) Reboot into safe mode. 4) Open up Windows\System32 and use the search box to locate the three files you'll be replacing. 5) Right click each one, click Take Ownership. 6) Repeat two more times for the other files. 7) Clear the search results. Drag and drop the files on your desktop to the System32 folder. 8) Reboot. :)

And still nothing, when i go to apply a theme it goes to the Classic theme.
PsiKoTicK
I've done all that, and Glazz says: "Your system files are patched, use the button to unpatch these files."And still nothing, when i go to apply a theme it goes to the Classic theme. Uninstall VistaGlazz. Try doing the above method without having VistaGlazz installed. I know how to take ownership of files, and the right click thing is still helpful :x If that still fails, make sure you have the right files for your version of Vista. Like, if you have Vista 64, make sure the files you are patching aren't for Vista 32, or vice versa. Alternatively, uninstall VistaGlazz, reboot, apply Aero (default theme), reboot again (just to completely refresh Windows, you can prolly skip this reboot if yer frisky), download the newest version of VistaGlazz, install it, and try again. I honestly think I used the manual method, then did VistaGlazz and it told me my files weren't patched (as I was staring at a nonsigned VS applied) - applied the VistaGlazz patch too, and everything works. I was running on 2 hours of sleep at the time though, so I really don't remember much except it's all working now :x
