The whole animal / username fad is so Q1 2000 (N)

Your point? My name is actually Jeremy Kyle if you must know. It does happen. He is isn't the only one with the name.

Oooh you're definitely the new Popisdead. Yayz! :D

I wonder how long you'll last here lol

Oh please this is not the whole Richard Hammond thing again is it?

Looks like it!

Maybe AB's dad will sign up this time :p

You know it's getting to the point where I don't even want to post my opinion any more due to the fact my opinion will be challenged.

 Isn`t that called a debate? The server is more stable for me now, still getting the error messages but not nearly as much as yesterday.

The Art Of Quincying

Co-workers, esteemed colleagues,

The time grows near when the Joystiq staff must choose the games which should be honored in our annual Top 10 list. I'm sure that you, like me, have had no small amount of difficulty separating the wheat from the chaff in what has proven to be a wheat-filled year. A Microsoft Word document currently sits minimized on my taskbar, where I attempted earlier this week to choose the greatest title which dropped in the past 365 days. I say "attempted," as I was unsuccessful in choosing just one game to hold this honor.

However, when I compiled this list, I hadn't yet entered the Home beta -- nor had I been introduced to the gameplay experience that would sweep me off my feet faster and harder than anything in any other 2008 title has before. What started out as a minor distraction in a fairly distraction-free virtual world has become an obsession. A calling. I speak, of course, of the timeless art of Quincying.

Rather than write out a length of wordy prose, I want to share with you the step-by-step instructions on how you can start Quincying the next time you log into Home.

Prep Work

* Create an attractive female avatar. This should not be very difficult.

* Create a "Quincy" -- the most unappealing, disfigured Elephantine man as you can possibly craft using the avatar creation tools. Again, this should not be difficult. My Quincy looks a bit like an alternate-universe version of Perez Hilton, but with a curly mustache and clear side-effects of methamphetamine abuse.

Setting the Trap

* As your attractive female avatar (AFA), go to a crowded area. The central hub is a great place to learn how to Quincy, as it is full of lonely suitors and needless dancing.

* Approach a lonely suitor.

* Don't just run up and start dancing. Strike up a conversation, ask where they're from. Get them interested.

* After cordial introductions, begin dancing with a suitor. Should other suitors begin to dance with and/or cat-call you, all the better -- but keep your focus on the original suitor.

* When you're positive you've got all the suitors' attention, and you're in the middle of a provacative dance, you're ready to go.

Springing the Trap

* The Art of Quincying is not just the action itself, but the build-up. If you've followed directions so far, you've probably got a nice following.

* Your Quincy can't just appear, you need to say something in the chat to hint at the fact that things are about to get very, very weird for any and all nearby suitors.

* Suggestions: Simply shout "IT'S A TRAP" or, when asked where you're from, answer "Your nightmares."

* As SOON as said message is transmitted, open up your wardrobe menu, and switch to your Quincy.

* Exit the menu as quickly as possible. If done correctly, your avatar will have continued its provocative dance, albeit with a new, horrifying appearance.

Aftershocks

* The typical male reaction to a well-executed quincying is an immediate ceasing of dancing, and a hasty retreat from the newly transformed Quincy.

* Occasionally, a suitor will stick around, laughing the experience off. This behaviour should be discouraged.

* Deliver said discouragement by changing back to your AFA, and resume dancing with the suitor.

* The loneliest suitors will continue their dance, though perhaps with a healthy amount of trepidation.

* Punish their persistence with a swift revert back to the Quincy.

* Repeat as needed.

Guys, time for me to make a Hong-Kong account

2lwq8sz.jpg

UPDATE 2: If you download the Namco Arcade from the HONG KONG store not the JAPAN store the cabinets will be FUNCTIONAL from within your apartment... walk up to it and it launches you into the game full screen. Quit and it brings you back to Home. Guests need to have Namco Arcade on their own PS3 to play though.

Right now the arcade machines don't work in the clubhouse as they ask you for a code to redeem.

Just powered up my PSP today to get it onto 5.00 M33, and they really should be working on getting Home playable under remote play

Sure they are, it would make sense.

Especially with the new PSP3000's shipping with a built in microphone.

Any tips on creating a Hong Kong account? I've forgotten how I did the Jap one.

For Japan -

Should work ok? (Substitute Hong Kong obviously)

I'm gonna try creating one later.

https://www.playstation.com.hk/warrant_mem/hk-en-memreg.jsp

better create it on site then just use in in PS3,

creating ID on ps3 is pain in behind to be honest.

Awesome I thought it had to be done on the PS3, I'll give it a go by doing it online.

(Hopefully it doesn't ask for email confirmation though, which it might because you're doing it online - If you do it through your PS3 you can enter anything for the email, even if it isn't valid because it never checks)

Just did it on the PS3. Very easy to do. Chose English as my language, so that made it a lot easer.

I went as far as to create a new Gmail account first using a proxy so it would be a .com address then pulled a Hong Kong street address from Google maps. :)

So should I uninstall namco museum first?

Not sure about that link that you posted kyro, seems to be for warranty registration, not a PSN account.

The Hong Kong version auto installed after it finished downloading. I started the Hong Kong version, and all the items I had won were missing (as expected). Checked the Jap version and they were still there. So I deleted the Jap version and started HOME. All the namco stuff I had put in my space was gone, but I still had my Dig Dug shirt on, and the stuff is still in my inventory.

Can confirm that this works, and the games are now playable :)

Shame its not integrated fully yet. It actually takes you out of HOME to play the games, and then as usual, you can't bloody sign back in for ages. Also seems like you can't win any items if you start the game from within HOME.

    • Apple CEO Tim Cook confirms looming price hikes due to memory shortages by Hamid Ganji Image via Apple Memory and chip shortages have led to significant price increases for electronics over the past year, and it seems that more hikes are on the way for upcoming smartphones and computers. Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed that the company is planning to increase the prices of some of its products due to the ongoing memory and storage shortages. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Cook confirmed the looming price hikes for Apple’s future products, adding that “Unfortunately, price increases are unavoidable.” He also said the company is doing its best to “mitigate the huge increases that are being passed to us, and we’ve been trying to shield our customers from the increases, but the situation has become unsustainable.” The Apple CEO also noted that the allocation of a large portion of memory chips to AI companies has contributed to shortages in the market, resulting in lower supply at a time when demand for devices remains high. “We definitely need memory pricing and supply to return to reasonable levels for consumer products. That’s the bottom line,” Cook said. Cook also added that Apple is ready to use its vast cash reserves to help boost supply in the market because additional production capacity is needed. While he declined to specify how Apple plans to do that, he said the company will not build its own memory and storage factories despite its financial resources and silicon expertise. Cook did not provide further details on the scale of the price increases or which Apple products would be affected, though iPads and Macs could see higher prices sooner than other products. Apple’s next product launch event is scheduled for September, when the company is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and its first foldable iPhone. It remains unclear whether the upcoming iPhones will be affected by the price increases, but given the current memory shortage, higher prices seem increasingly likely. There is currently no clear timeline for the end of the memory shortage. Samsung, one of the world’s three largest memory chip manufacturers, recently said the shortage could persist for several more years.
    • Downloads does not equal actual usage, even less when the app is pre-installed in some Galaxy phones.
    • +1000 to this, don't understand why they added that margin around the top bar, even the close button is a PITA to click without aiming. Ofc, this is just preview and hopefully they will revert such odd UX decision before hitting final version.
    • so the people who bought this will get a refund?
