winrez
I think this is how to fix it 1) remove the icon from that location (delete) 2) go into "program access and defaults" and set internet explorer as the default browser 3) right click the "start button" and choose properties 4) put a checkbox by "Internet" on the start menu configuration That should fix it if it doesnt just remove the icon and drag and drop the IE icon from All Programs and rename it internet

Skoey
Hmmm could try setting Firefox as default browser which changes that Icon + Shortcut to be for firefox. Then set it back to IE! TweakUI is a small app for windows xp i think their is an option to repair icons or something like that. Might want to check that.
JRosenfeld
Did you try right click on that icon, click properties. On the General tab make sure read only is unchecked, then on shortcut tab, click change icons. If it does not show C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe in the klook for icons in the file, click browse and go to that location. Select the icon you want, click OK, OK. If the icon you selected does not stick, repeat, but also go back to properties and set it to read only on the general tab and your icon should stick
