@Yuri

Now THAT is a GitS remix. That is probably one of the best AMV's and best dnb mixes I've heard in a while. Favorite'd and added to my running playlist. However, J-core frightens me. You can't even move or run to that beat.

You did not just call Maximum The Hormone "real Japanese death metal" because their music is far away from death metal :p

Japanese metal*

I have no clue what death metal is and can only hear men imitating the cookie monster while smashing drugs and hitting the heavier chords.

On the topic of OP/EDs, I always found Elfen Lied's ED to be an interesting choice. It was a bit out of place with the series. You'd have a whole slew of people murdered in an episode and have a really depressing episode and then suddenly it would break out into this really upbeat song...

It looks like I'm not the only one who connected the song with Michelle Branch and Avril Lavigne. Elfen Lied's OP, unlike the ED, is fantastic.

We're going off-topic here.

Back on-topic: Tokyo Godfathers was great! The humor in it was priceless and the story of it was really great. Another great anime movie made by Madhouse :)

^That's a bummer. No idea what TT is though :p

I'm also gonna watch Tokyo Godfathers in a bit :)

Doesn't matter now, it's back up now :p Though I was using a different indexing site while it was down.

And regarding Tokyo Godfathers, I'd say it's a great anime to watch with the family

Radish?

^See, now I know what TT stands for lol :p

I'm the only one in my family who likes anime, so watching it with all of them is out of the question. Though I do understand where you're coming from with that :)

Check this anime series out: Blue Literature. It features the same art as Bleach, Death Note and Prince of Tennis.

Blue Literature is a series of adaptations of various classic Japanese literary works animated by studio Madhouse and featuring character designs by manga artists Takeshi Obata (Death Note), Kubo Tite (Bleach) and Takeshi Konomi (Prince of Tennis). These stories are blue, pale and faded works of the past. Yet, at the same time, they're green in content and come off as fresh to people in the present. What better defines the Japanese word "aoi" than classic literature?

After watching four episodes of Aoi Bungaku, I delved deeper on the story the episodes covered. "No Longer Human" is a novel written by Osamu Dazai. It's supposed to be an autobiography of his life covering deceit, lies and suicide. It's nothing remarkable. However, this author's book was published in 1948 and is the second best selling novel of all time in Japan. Due to my curiousity, I checked what the best selling novel covered. To my lack of surprise, it also covered suicide. Japanese culture is one @#$@#$'d up mess to look at from a Western point of view after being exposed to what is available on the Internet.

/tirade after watching another messed up Holden-esque type of anime that I'm sick of watching.

I'll be grabbing it soon!!!!

After the fourth episode, I felt sick to my stomach. Either the anime is so good that it made me physically cringe and have knots in my stomach out of anger and disgust or I detest this anime for being another story about a human struggling from a weird/messed up childhood and attempting suicide.

Watched the first episode of Sora no Woto, really liked the OP song by Kalafina and the music in general. The characters are straight from K-ON! with army uniforms and instruments. Same character designer .... So naturally, the "moe" is coming through yet again :p I didn't mind that though.

The animation is produced really well by A1-Pictures/Aniplex (beautiful detailed backdrops throughout), big budget methinks. It has great potential, mainly because of the original plot with the world it's based in around the characters and the music itself (Y)

Radish?

Patlabor: The Movie is a hidden gem. It is a visual masterpiece that has been forgotten since it was released in 1989. It rivals Akira in terms of animation and is one of the best looking mecha/thrillers I've come across since Ghost in the Shell, Akira and Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade. It's a MUST watch for every mecha/action anime fan out there. It sure beats most of the bland looking run off the mill CGI shows out there.

Some night screenshots of how beautiful the hand drawn scenes are:

I think I mentioned it a few pages back. I've only watched episode 1 in the last week of the last year. Quite an interesting anime imo.

@Radish?: I've also watched the first episode of Sora no Woto yesterday. And I agree about the OP, it's a great song. The ED was pretty nice as well. I also loved how all the sceneries and buildings looked. I bet it's going to be a great story :)

I've also watched the first episode of Durarara!! which was really just an introduction episode to get to know every character. It's was interesting enough to keep on watching it though :)

CLAMP's dialogue is quite irritating and immature. It tries to give unnecessary items symbolism through exaggeration. It's as if the mangaka is not sure how to depict a scene. xxxholic is a great example. The anime is quite enjoyable but once I started reading the manga, everything is very touchy feely to the point that it's too sappy from the dialogue over saturated with attempts to sway the reader's emotions but garners nothing but befuddlement. It might be because the characters are too feminine for my liking. However, Yuko is amazing since she follows the strong, independent female archetype and is always consistent unlike the others. However, the late twist in the story is probably one of the worst I have ever come across.

Fun Fact:

Clamp is composed of four female mangakas.

Here's one of many scenes that depict the absurdity of some scenes:

Fun Fact:

Clamp is composed of four female mangakas.

im still unclear as to why the other 8 left also if it wasn't for the weather i would have got to see them in pairs last year.

oh well i might be in Japan for their 25th anniversary

also another fun fact they once invited the author of JoJo's bizarre adventure for tea that's why in the first wonderland video you see Jotaro.

also to really understand some of Clamp's works you have to know a little or a lot about the occult.

also to really understand some of Clamp's works you have to know a little or a lot about the occult.

It still doesn't excuse the poor plot twist and rubbish dialogue (in the manga) and the team's attempt to connect their two main franchises through parallel worlds.

rewatched Elfen lied over the weekend. (own the thinpack dvd set) always have loved that anime Just wish there was a true 14th episode to let you know who was at the door. (even though we know who it is)

This is how anime should not be advertised in the US:

When I was watching Funimation in between games on TV a long time back, I watched three ads for several shows from xxxholic to some really trashy shoujo show called Peach Girl. If I never knew what anime was beforehand, I would have thought it was one of the worst things to come across since daytime TV and "fitness" and drug ads.

When did you watch Elfen Lied for the first time? Did you watch it when you first started anime or after you watched a lot of anime? I watched this when I was still trying to figure out what I liked about anime after Ghost in the Shell and thought that Elfen Lied was one of the weirdest, most overblown gorefest I ever came across. I watched it for a story and left with a bloody taste in my mouth. :p

    • A Warhammer 40K racing game and a chess roguelike are free to claim on the Epic Games Store by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The Epic Games Store has returned to its standard giveaway procedures after weeks of mystery freebies. The latest drop is replacing last week's Rogue Waters and Songs of Conquest games and has brought in a double giveaway offering Warhammer 40K Speed Freeks and The Ouroboros King. As always, the game is yours to add permanently to your Epic Games Store library within the next seven days. From the duo, Warhammer 40K Speed Freeks lands from developer Caged Element, and it's a racing game that was only released last year. The title has you piloting Ork buggies, tanks, and aircraft modeled after the popular tabletop miniatures. The focus is on multiplayer mayhem, offering multiple game modes that have you fighting other players as everyone tries to survive and get across finish lines or destroy mechs. Crossplay support between PC and consoles has now arrived as part of a free update, too, giving a boost to matchmaking times for this multiplayer-focused title. If racing carnage isn't your thing, then The Ouroboros King offers tactics. The indie title is a mashup of chess and standard roguelike experience, letting players create their own armies to defeat an enemy faction, all on the familiar checkered board. There is a procedurally generated map, pieces with special abilities, relics that bend the game's rules to make overpowered builds, and more. The newly available Warhammer 40K Speed Freeks and The Ouroboros King giveaways on the Epic Games Store are set to run until June 11, giving PC gamers seven days to claim the latest offer. Once this closes out, a new freebie will take its place on the same day. Don't forget that mobile gamers can check out the Epic Game Store's weekly giveaways on Android and iOS to grab a freebie there as well.

    • Stopped using Windows as my main workflow. Migrated completed to Linux. Been happier than a clam without a single issue nor windows annoyance. Leaving Windows has shown me the light at the end of the tunnel, or rather I went through the tunnel and I'm already at the light.
