Too tired to think much,

I guess I can describe the show as easygoing modern-day fantasy drama with a different story arc per episode...

I felt that the second season was a bit too feminine and had a less diverse plot unlike the first season. Add Mushishi (mature version) and xxxholic (same set of characters but more bishounen and eccentric) to your playlist. If you like psychedelic colors and colorful, subtle dialogue, then check out Mononoke. Its artwork is one of the more unique ones I have come across.

I completed Fullmetal Alchemist, resulting in 500th addition to my anime/manga list. It has a decent ending that leans on the "rushed" side. It's not perfect. It ties up all the loose ends a bit too quickly to slowly enjoy each detail. I personally think that the manga should have been shortened by a few volumes with less fights and lame dialogue and the flawed philosophies during those fights OR extend the manga another volume or so to explain detailed solutions to each question the manga posed through its characters' actions. Is this the ultimate Shounen manga? No. Is it one of the best to ever be written in manga history? Perhaps but it certainly ranks as one of the best to ever be written in the past two decades. It's a good manga that I would recommend to anyone who wants to experience a fantasy world that successfully combines some features of the Adult/Seinen genre with the teenage/Shounen genre.

8/10 (Must read)

Note: The last chapter is 108 pages long! It has enough material for an episode and a 30 min - 1 hour long epilogue OVA. I am not going to spoil anything but have to say to all you viewers of FMA: Brotherhood to be prepared for a major twist in the story about Ed that is quite surprising and interesting.

If you enjoyed this manga, I STRONGLY recommend 20th Century Boys. It is one of the most highly acclaimed manga series and there are very strong similarities between the two works, such as the character dynamic and global conspiracies. Like FMA, its ending arc is not the best but the overall experience is excellent.

MAJOR SPOILER:

It looks like I got my WinryxEd ending that got a few pages dedicated to itself with a cheesy proposal. I guess that's all I can ask for.

Just started watching, "Honey and Clover" anyone else like that show?

It's alright so far, it seems weird the main character likes that girl and she looks about 9yrs old...

One of my all-time favourites when it comes to slice-of-life anime (Y)

You'll realise at the end of the series how much of a masterpiece it is with the intertwining stories between the characters (as well as the soundtrack) and dude, Hagu is totally awesome (despite her looks, she's actually 18 years old) :p

It's going to get weirder. I disliked the characters because the guys were just a group of #$@#$ @#$@#$ who put ##$@#$ on a pedestal. It's very Josei. The depictions of men being very friendly and social like best friends with each other by supporting each other through every obstacle is the feminine version of a seinen series showing bodacious girls having pillow fights. Nothing made me more annoyed than watching one of the male leads chase after some suicidal widow because he thinks he's some white kight in shining armor who can fix her.

/my rant

Apart from that, it has a good indie rock style soundtrack (one of the best I have heard). The loli character is more of an abstract take on the girl's nature. She's considered to a young, naive, daddy's girl (with a possible mental handicap?).

Great narration, freaky group of characters is what I thought of the whole series. :p

5 Centimeters per Second = LAME

The animation and sound effects were great, but the movie was an hour of a couple characters talking about their feelings, and nothing happened through out the whole movie.

It's a very normal slice of life story with no sudden deaths, tragedies or car accidents and no explosions. I loved the movie when I first watched it. When I started analyzing it, I got more and more annoyed by the male lead's glorification of his middle school crush on a girl. He must have been the loser kid in high school with no female interaction to glorify that girl as the only one for him despite him dating others.

TL;DR: The male lead becomes a lolicon because his closeted nature prevents him from having a moving romantic connection a girl he experienced only once with a middle school crush.

You were expecting something else? The entire anime is based on the inner feelings of three individuals and how they come to terms with them when their circumstances change beyond their control

Should have stop analysing and accepted it at face value (like when you first watched it) :)

Morita was the real freaky one out the group ;)

Both are one of my favorite anime :) I've watched "5 Centimeters Per Second" 4 times now and I'm still not bored of it. I also liked "Honey and Clover" alot specially due to me feeling related to some of the characters :)

Oh that's good to hear, and thanks for the reply :p

It had good ratings on Anime News Network and I was in the mood of a slice of life anime. Only seen 3 episodes so far, but I am liking it and it's quite funny at times. I can't believe you're saying that Hagu is supposed to be 18 haha, some animators are weird :p

I didn't catch who was the kid riding the bike in the first episode, was that Morita?

No problem :)

I just realised when I typing this out, it's been just over a year since I watched this anime :D

It manages to mix light-hearted comedy with a laid-back atmosphere, yet has a serious tone with the life experiences of the characters (Y) And yes, Hagu is an adult. I was just as surprised to learn that as well when I watched it, you can blame Chica Umino for that :p

Takemoto rides the bike, it's a re-occurring theme throughout the series and you'll see at the end what it symbolises. He's the character I relate to most, with similar personal experiences I've been through.

not enough fights or people screaming at each other eh?

Thats probably the first "slice of life" anime ive watched, its not that there was no action stuff its that nothing happened.

He didn't get the girl, he didn't become anything great, no one died, nothing.

There was a couple parts when I thought something was actually going to happen like the girl saying she was going to tell him she liked him, then she cried a little and never told him.

Well, we can finally put a great anime to books of history... Full Metal Alchemist has ended!

They released the final chapter this previous Sunday. It was a whopping 110 pages long, but it put almost everything in the right place, and even lead you to want more. We got to see what happened with them after the events, and what they are going to do with their lives now. Was just amazingly well done. I could not be any happier I think with the ending, and can not wait to see this animated.

Farewell FMA. You will be one of the greatest in my books.

New Bleach 275 is out by horriblesubs.

Great series. And yeh I think most people find Hagu-chan a bit strange.

You're easily entertained, eh? The ending was far from "amazingly well done" and was simply a full stop to answer all the loose ends in a rushed manner.

I thought it was well done in a way that it keeps you still wondering bout their world and lives, but gives you enough to be happy with the ending. A clean cut ending wrapping up all ties is always good, but it kills off the ability to wonder about what else. This ending leaves it open if they ever wanted to, to start on a new story, but closed enough to where if they don't, you know how everything sort of turned out.

I liked how everything was explained, how the bad guy lost, why he lost (specifically), and what the brothers continued to do after all of it. Seeing Mustang still not as the leader and having some of the people doing what they are doing ( can't spoil much for those who missed it ) were good unexpected side events.

What do you feel could have been done better? I understand how the Manga version of these can be a little lack luster and not reveal or show everything how it might be animated, so maybe the Anime will be a little better....

I do wish they went a little more into Edward and Winery, instead of leaving it how they left off lol, but everything else I felt was just right for the setting of the story to this point.

And it was kinda lame.

Havent had a chance to watch it yet, at least all of it. Watched half during lunch, then paused when #2 was revealing what his power was.... Ya, this part of the manga was slow, even with the crazy fighting. Can't wait for #2 to drop and see the rest of the action from there... but this fight was a little "ehhhhhhh whatever", to me in the manga.

Put spoiler tags on the FMA stuff! :pinch:

Coming back to Bleach, I penned Barrigan's attack as "Death Breath" when I read that chapter from the manga. It was damn boring

    • macOS ‘Golden Gate' unveiled with standalone Siri app, performance improvements and more by Hamid Ganji After months of rumors about Apple’s latest software updates, the company unveiled macOS 27 at the 2026 Worldwide Developers Conference. macOS 27 isn’t a major departure from the previous version; instead, it focuses on refining the user experience and fixing some of the annoying bugs users have reported over the past year. The new macOS 27 is named Golden Gate. When it comes to the list of new features, you should not expect a long one, as Apple has followed the Snow Leopard playbook from 2009 with macOS 27. First, the Liquid Glass interface isn’t gone; it's been updated to improve readability. It gets a new slider in settings to adjust Liquid Glass, letting you go from ultra-clear to fully tinted with ease. App icons also get an additional layer of Liquid Glass to look sharper. Smoother system animations, faster content loading, and a similar corner radius for windows are other improvements for macOS 27. With iOS 27, Apple released a standalone Siri app for iPhone users, and the app is also coming to Macs with the latest update. The all-new Siri AI app features a chatbot-style interface and aims to compete with Google’s Gemini and OpenAI’s ChatGPT. It supports both text and voice prompts and provides users with access to previous conversations for reference. The Siri app can also perform a wide range of tasks, including on-device search, image generation, information summarization, and more. Users can also rely on Siri for personal context. Siri is integrated with various apps, allowing users to complete tasks with a single prompt. With the screen awareness capability, you can ask Siri about locations and images on your screen. Which devices won’t get macOS 27? If you’re still using an Intel-powered Mac, we have bad news for you. macOS 27 is only compatible with Apple Silicon chips and drops support for Intel-based Macs. Here’s a list of devices that won’t be compatible with macOS 27: Mac Pro (2019) 16-inch MacBook Pro (2019) 27-inch iMac (2020) 13-inch MacBook Pro (2020) When can you get macOS 27? Apple developers can now access the first beta of macOS 27. However, the first public beta is expected to be released sometime next month. Users will have to wait until this fall for the stable version of macOS 27.
    • Who wants to pay higher prices for the same 6+ year hardware in a new shell? This is hardware where things change fast and improve continuously. They could update w/ quicker/more efficient compute, faster storage, new controllers with new features (not a shell/design update), which are all realistic possibilities. They've done mid-generation console updates, but all we've had for Series X/S are not just different configuration updates (storage / digital versions / console aesthetics). Instead they've prioritized acquisitions, increasing prices, and have lost quite bit of their fan base because of lack of vision.
    • LibreOffice developer takes a dig at Euro-Office in new open letter by Usama Jawad LibreOffice maintainer The Document Foundation (TDF) has often criticized Microsoft for popularizing the OOXML standard for documents instead of the truly open-source OpenDocument Format (ODF). It has also bashed the Redmond tech giant for putting its own commercial interests over everything else. Now, it has switched targets a bit to aim its sights at the Euro-Office suite launching tomorrow. For those unaware, Euro-Office is a direct fork of OnlyOffice. It is being marketed as an open-source "European sovereign alternative" to proprietary services like Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. It is being developed by a coalition of European companies including Nextcloud, IONOS, and Tuta. However, TDF has disagreed with this marketing classification in an open letter, saying that it is not the first open-source office suite being developed in Europe, as that honor belongs to OpenOffice.org, back in 2001. In a snide remark, it has emphasized that it feels "compelled" to clarify this because open-source initiatives should highlight transparency, not deception. It has stated that OpenOffice.org and LibreOffice are the only two "genuine" office suites with codebases in Europe, indicating that Euro-Office is a freeware clone of Microsoft Office that has rebranded itself to masquerade as a symbol of digital sovereignty. TDF has also remarked on the fact that those that are championing digital sovereignty now were very dismissive of LibreOffice and ODF a couple of decades ago: The LibreOffice has once again called out Microsoft for its "horrible" OOXML standard which locks in customers. Euro-Office also leverages this OOXML format, which effectively makes it an ally of Microsoft, according to LibreOffice. That said, it is unlikely if TDF's strong words will have any impact on the adoption or marketing of Euro-Office.
    • Apple finally brings the slider for Liquid Glass and many other changes by Aditya Tiwari Apple kicked off the official live stream of the WWDC 2026 annual developer event. The company began its latest wave of announcements with changes to the controversial Liquid Glass design language, which debuted last year across Apple's entire software ecosystem. A lot of people didn't like Liquid Glass when it first arrived on iPhone and other devices last year. The devices were plagued with transparency issues and whatnot. While Apple improved things over the year, it has now added a new Liquid Glass slider that lets you switch the transparency from clear to opaque. In other words, you can choose the amount of Liquid Glass you want to see on your iPhone instead of an on/off switch, which would only give you two choices. The sidebars now expand to the edge of the window. When you scroll the UI sideways, the refraction continues beneath the sidebar rather than being cut off at the boundary. Moreover, sidebar icons keep their color. Apple has changed the way Liquid Glass is rendered across the system. There is a separation between different layers, which makes buttons in the toolbar stand out from the background. Apple said it "deeply appreciates" the feedback it received from users and has made adjustments to Liquid Glass. New customizations allow Liquid Glass to improve contrast and enable a more vibrant appearance. The new icons have sharper edges, which addresses an old complaint that iOS 26 icons look blurry at smaller sizes. The upgraded Liquid Glass, Apple said, is building on last year's design upgrades by "integrating additional layers of Liquid Glass directly into the artwork itself." Apple's upgraded design language is available on iOS 27, which is arriving this year with no changes to the list of supported iPhones.
