best scene in time of eve, is the scene with the really old clanky robot.

My favourite episode as well, he's like the Japanese version of The Terminator  A re-watch is on the cards, nearly been a year since I did originally (Y)

@Capric0rn, totally forgot about that post on my blog

Just finished watching "Eve no Jikan" or "Time of Eve".

if you havn't watched it go do so.

its only 6 episodes long and each episode is 15 minutes long, so its pretty short, but its really good.

Its a story in the 'near-ish' future where androids are very common and deals with the three laws of robotics and such.

And there's a couple hilarious scenes.

Apparently Planetes is quite similar and if you enjoyed one you'd enjoy the other. I haven't watched Eve no Jikan but its on my plan to watch list, Planetes though is very, very good.

It turns out it was the stupid VSfilter that comes with CCCP. I uninstalled it and now subtitles look really good again.

@ Capric0rn, thanks for the link. I'm gonna' give it a try later.

Just tried it and the results were slightly worse than what I currently have set up in MPC-HC. Also, the subtitles didn't fit on the screen and they had super nintendo graphics lol. Oh well. Guess I'll stick to what I've got until they release a bluray. Which they probably won't...

Arakawa Under the Bridge, a barrel of laughs (Y)

Thanks will check it out :)

Gintama

School Rumble :D

Nyan Koi

... I'm also looking for some more comedies since I just finished Gintama recently. I'll check out that "Under the bridge" one.

Already watched Gintama and School Rumble and enjoyed them both  Will add Nyan Koi to the plan to watch list

check out Hayate the combat butler.

I did try watching Hayate the Combat Butler at one time but after watching 8 episodes it still didn't quite appeal to me. Maybe it was my mood at the time  Think I should give it another shot?

I saw the entire first season and thought it was just "ok"... At first it was funny but then it got repetitive.

kinda depends how much anim? you've watched IE the more you've seen the more funny it is.

Award-Winning Anime Director Satoshi Kon Passes Away

Jim Vowles, a member of the Otakorp Board of Directors for the Otakon convention, has announced on Tuesday that director Satoshi Kon has passed away. Kon was 47. The staff of Otakon confirmed his passing with MADHOUSE studio founder Masao Maruyama. Maruyama had wrote on his Twitter account on Tuesday night in Japan that an important director of the studio had suddenly passed away. However, Maruyama declined to name the director at the time.

Kon began working as a manga creator on such works as Kaikisen (1990) before deciding to delve into the anime industry with the script and art direction of "Magnetic Rose," a segment of Katsuhiro Otomo's Memories (1995). He first drew worldwide attention with his feature film directorial debut, Perfect Blue, in 1997. He would follow that with a string of critically acclaimed anime projects: Millennium Actress (2001), Tokyo Godfathers (2003), Paranoia Agent (2004), and Paprika (2006). At the time of passing, Kon was working at MADHOUSE on a new feature film called Yume-Miru Kikai.

Was reading about that a few hours ago, one of the true greats when it came to animation - RIP :(

Wonder how much of Yume-Miru Kikai was completed, the premise of it was intriguing. Hope it gets produced in the end (Y)

Animator Shojuro Yamauchi Passes Away

Writer/director Akitaro Daichi reported on his Twitter account on Wednesday that key animator Shojuro Yamauchi had passed away on Tuesday. The two creators had worked together on Prince Mackaroo (Ojarumaru). Another writer/director, Sakichi Sato, had reported on his Twitter account earlier on Wednesday that another "legendary anime director" had passed away in addition to Satoshi Kon.

Yamauchi worked on dozens of anime works as a key animator ? the artist who draws the key frames for the other artists to model their frames in an animated sequences. His many works include Conan, the Boy in Future, Dagger of Kamui, Lupin III: The Legend of the Gold of Babylon, Lupin III: The Secret of Mamo. After Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro, he worked on several Studio Ghibli films including Isao Takahata's Grave of the Fireflies and Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away.

He also served as animation director on One Pound Gospel, Prince Mackaroo, Sherlock Hound, and Kiteretsu Daihyakka. As recently as last year, he was still drawing frames for Mainichi Kaasan and Kawa no Hikari.

I loved One Pound Gospel. :(

A big loss for the industry. RIP.

But, onto new chapter talks....

Bleach 417... just amazing! What is going on with Ichigo? I love how we just got another extreme flip sort of.

Naruto was great as well. Guy Sensai is always great, and this chapter showed him finally being serious.

Next week will be a great week for both of these stories.

Bleach 417... just amazing! What is going on with Ichigo? I love how we just got another extreme flip sort of.

Indeed, suddenly Ichigo becomes superpowered and is easily able to match Aizen? I'm getting a bit peeved to be honest. On the one hand, you've got a superpowered villain who just cannot seem to get anything wrong despite everything being thrown at him and then guy who always gets beat up but comes back stronger. And now their roles are reversed? Plus the fact that Gin, one of my favourite characters in BLEACH, is either dying or will be dead!

Urgh (But I still follow it just to know what's going on :p ).

    • I think this will appeal to a lot of enthusiasts. If the thermals are similar to those of a single system in a compact case, many people running multiple systems may choose to combine them into one machine, provided the case footprint remains reasonable.
    • No, "a great deal" for 32GB of DDR5 is $50, not $350. I mean I see what you mean, that it's a decent price compared to what's currently available, but you really should put a disclaimer in this articles explaining that it's still multiple times more expensive than it used to be.
    • Linux 7.1 stable launch looms as Linus Torvalds releases the final release candidate by Paul Hill Linus Torvalds has just released what’s expected to be the final release candidate of Linux 7.1, rc7. The Linux founder said that this RC is not small, but smaller than recent releases, which is a good sign because he expects the stable version to drop next week if things continue on this trajectory. Linux kernels see a merge window for the first two weeks of their life, where developers add new features, then there are about seven or eight weeks of release candidates before the stable version. Typically, there are seven release candidates, but if more time is needed, then an eighth release candidate is released too. This week’s RC’s biggest area of fixes was for GPUs, with networking just behind. Torvalds said that the rest of the release was “pretty random and spread out” with some architecture fixes, driver fixes, filesystem improvements, and build fixes for more unusual configs. In terms of specific pieces of hardware receiving improvements in this update, we had more AMD Zen6 models supported and fixes for AMD SDMA 7.1 and GFX11. Hardware that got improvements includes Lenovo laptops, HONOR laptops, and MSI laptops. Here are the changelogs for those: ASoC: amd: acp: Add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 15ASH11 Input: atkbd - add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Air 14 (83QK) Input: atkbd - skip deactivate for HONOR BCC-N's internal keyboard ASoC: amd: yc: Add MSI Raider A18 HX A9WJG to quirk table ASoC: amd: yc: Enable internal mic on MSI Bravo 17 C7VF When the stable Linux 7.1 is released, it will be up to distribution maintainers, such as Canonical and Red Hat, to release the update to their users via the update manager. Some versions of Linux will get it before others, and some will never get it at all. Fedora and Arch-based distros will be among the first to get it, though. If you don’t get it, the security fixes will be backported to your system’s kernel, so you won’t be at risk, but you won’t get newer hardware support, which is fine if your computer works now.
