Xbox Live Internet Thugs

well we know underoath to be one of the good guys and part of the family, so it's clear he's coming from a competitive rather than hateful mindset. even with my cynical outlook on life i'd say the majority of gamers online are OK, they may not be saints, but they don't bother others. there's some that are putting on a tough act but are actually cool, then there's the real jerks and loonies, who are a minority, and a small one at that.

So in other words what I posted a few pages ago?

20040319.jpg

You give a normal person anonymity and a crowd of people and something ticks in their brain to make them -10 years of their actual age and act like complete morons?

If you are actually cool, no, putting on the tough act doesn't do you any good, it makes you look like an absolute plank of wood (N)

I can only assume in getting older people start to realize that, shame really, because getting older for some online seems to be hitting like 30/40, as opposed to an age most people hit "maturity".

LOL, this reminds me of the other day. I joined a WaW game just as it ended and the two top people on the leader board were giving everyone ****. I was against them in the next game and went 36-4. At the end they were silent and I just said ''good game''.

I'm sorry but if I totally raped someone in a game the last thing I would do is talk smack.

LOL @ everyone talking about respect. its a ****ing game man relax. some people like playing games different, if you dont like it then ignore them. dont cry about it. its really not that big of a deal, like i said befor talking smack is something that kinda comes with online game play so get use to it.

its a ****ing game man relax.

If that's the case, tell the people who feel the need to make everyone's ears bleed with profanity/abuse, or even just idiot like remarks to relax

I'm positive 99% of the people talking about respect in here just mute idiots or move along, we're merely having a discussion now outside of the game to pinpoint how absolutely ridiculously some people behave. In essence also mocking them for their chosen paths of deliberately making themselves look like retards. We're not mocking the innocent, or those who have no choice just those acting like primitive monkeys.

It's interesting talking about the human brain, or should I say lack of it in some cases relating to this topic ;)

I'm assuming you are talking about how if I was to talk smack to you, you would go 36 and 4 on me? Well, when I get home I'll have my pictures of me playing Gears of War 2 and CoD4 with the stats kills/deaths.

Wtf are you on about. I meant people were talking smack, then I did well and they stfu, and I, instead of talking smack just said ''good game''.

Why the **** would people wana see your stats anyway?

I'm a man of my word and I want to prove to all of you that I do my talk for a great reasoning.

What is this epic quest you speak of?

Just wait and your image is pretty lame and trust me...I'm not trying to start a arguement but provoking me does not help the cause. Hate me or love me, I don't really care. Although, I know most hate me there are a few on this board that actually understand how the Xbox Live system works and most of you are out of the loop. I don't hide behind a microphone either not trying to act big just saying.

Nothing wrong with recording how well you've played, we have a whole massive topic on NW for that.

But trash talking = (N)

Never ever ever does trash talking do anything to benefit you. Even if it's in self defense, the rest of the gamers will kick back and watch you pettily argue with someone.

Makes you come across as an 10 year old idiot, and unless you are 10 years old, WTF would you want people to perceive you that way?

And before we get crossed wires, obviously there is a level of "competitive speak", where you say to the enemy "we're gonna win", "prepare to get destroyed", etc. When that is done right though, you'll get a good response/a chuckle, create some good atmosphere.

But hurling insults at someone because you're scoring higher, or just generally hurling insults is pathetic.

Sorry but playing online is not an excuse: these internet/XBL/PSN thugs would not behave as retarded if they were playing face to face with the other players.

I like online game competition as much as everyone else here. I like seeing my name at the top of the leaderboards/rankings/races finshes but I do not feel the need to belittle or insult the other players of the lobby.

I'm assuming you are talking about how if I was to talk smack to you, you would go 36 and 4 on me? Well, when I get home I'll have my pictures of me playing Gears of War 2 and CoD4 with the stats kills/deaths.

What's your point, UND3RxOATH?

So how does the Xbox Live system work?? I find it funny you take pictures of your end scores. Fact is, you trash talk.

Xbox Live is system full of 13 year olds playing games they shouldn't even be playing (Halo/CoD/Gears). I don't mind repsponding to them since I don't sit there the whole game, also with the new party feature with the NXE most of the talk is gone now. If it wasn't for Xbox Live most of these kids would be back on the PC doing the same thing while playing CS or World of Warcraft talking or typing. Live is a system of life for most kids which gives them the right to harass your message inbox with messages after a game after you destroy them or like most people suck. It's their gateway to having fun without getting killed in person.

You are right nothing is wrong with recording although if I did have a capture card I would be taking up on that feature. I take pictures of games that are just too good to pass up on. There is no self thing as self defense on Xbox Live to be honest unless you want to sit there and cry about someone talking trash about your mom, dad, grandma, etc... .

What's your point, UND3RxOATH?

I'm not saying I go into a game and start talking but most of the people who do end up losing badly. My point is there are some people who back it up.

It's funny when people sit here and feel the need to prove to the world how good they are at a video game. It's almost as bad as the people who can never blame themselves when they get owned. If I lose, it's almost always my fault.

That's pathetic, you back up a good performance by trash talking? Actually it's worse that pathetic.

How about giving yourself a good pat on the back, thanking your team (if it's a team game) and move on? No-one really gives a damn if you're better than someone at a video game.

I'm going to take the blame since I'm the only one defending the trash talkers base on the fact that more than likely 90% of people on XBL do it. Most of you don't care for it or like it and make a thread like this complaining about the system and how we should be banned. I guess everyone who gets in a fight, tells a lie, speaks out of hate, or anything of the sort should be banned and thrown in jail. That's the way I see this thread.

Essentially yes, everyone who can't conduct themselves like a human being on Live should be warned, then banned if they don't learn to. It's basic fundamentals of respect, treat others like you'd like to be treated, or face the consequences. In this case warns, then hopefully a ban.

You're playing alongside other people you don't know. Wouldn't you find it rather strange if someone came up to you in the street and called you a ****** for no reason? Or say because they think they have better shoes than you? (relating to a better game score.)

I'm sure you would find it strange, unpleasant and you wouldn't want to associate yourself with that person <- Same applies to online, people won't want to associate or play with you. Kind of defeats the purpose of playing online if you steam roll everyone you play with into disliking you, no?

All this thread tells me about your personality is you either pretend to be another persona online for whatever sad reason, or in real life you're as much of a disrespectful person as you are online. Which is sad to read if so.

But "90%" of the online rebel hard ass' probably don't act like they do online in real life, falling back on the image I've now posted twice.

I'm saying this again. I don't mind finishing it off. I must be a complete a** because I just like to go around outside in real life slapping me with my hand and laughing at them and saying "OMG GUYZ D1D YOU C THAT HEADSHOT I GOT WITH MY HAND?!?!" no...I don't go around acting like a ass. If someone has something to say, say it don't hide it. If people need violence to get their point across thats when it gets out of control like the stories of people getting murdered of World of Warcraft because a kid ****ed a guy off and then ended up at his house and killed him. Thats when it is out of control. I am cocky and I don't mind the fact but, I don't go around acting as if I'm the president of everyone because I owned someone online and want to just brag about it outside of the box.

I will use a example: at my gears of war 2 tournament my teammate and I are up 3-0 (first to 5) on Security and they come back game is now 3-3. Next thing I hear "Dude matt what's wrong? Can't handle it not good enough?" After than we go on and win 5-3. We play them again in the finals and 5-0 them on Avalanche in less than 5 minutes.

I go home and start playing Mirror's Edge and I look at my friends list and notice both of the people we played removed me from their friends list. I look at my messages and this is what I hear "Your not even good you just run around 2 piecing (slap-and-shoot for those who don't know). That's when it is lame and pathetic.

Although I still believe you hate the fact I no-scoped you on the mongoose in the Halo 3 Beta and it still haunts you this day.

Wow you still remember that and cling onto it? You must not make many RL achievements you remember something from May 2007 lol

No Underoath, I don't care about one kill and it certainly doesn't haunt me. I know much better players on Halo & Gears than yourself, both on NW and offline.

I don't need to play with you all the time to know what you're like. Many people have commented it on the forum, on XBL and of course we know about your bannings.

Time to change dude (Y)

Wow you have issues dude, serious issues :|

By the way, when you do plan on starting up the super awesome PM News List again?

I could really careless as to what you say to be honest. I want to see the better Halo and Gears play me, no seriously please.

Thank you thank you. Why don't I? I don't want a bunch of non good gamers on it.

We don't care about your stats or your potty mouth. We just want to play a good game, and being a weenie just because you won doesn't make the game good.

Thank you you make my point valid.

    • The Light of Life? We actually do glow till our Death, study finds by Sayan Sen Image by Rafael Rendon via Pexels A study by researchers at the University of Calgary has found that living organisms produce an extremely faint light known as ultraweak photon emission, and that this glow appears to drop significantly after death. The research was published in the Journal of Physical Chemistry in April 2025 and quickly drew widespread attention, leading to more than 200 news stories about the findings. Ultraweak photon emission (or UPE), sometimes called biophoton emission, refers to tiny amounts of light released by living cells as a result of normal biological activity. A photon is the basic particle of light, and researchers say every living system examined so far, including plants and animals, has been found to emit these photons. The glow is far too faint to be seen by the human eye. “I suppose it has a little to do with people being reminded of auras,” says Dr. Christoph Simon, PhD, one of the authors of the study and a professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy in the Faculty of Science. “It is a fact that living beings glow. It’s a very weak glow, but it’s there and visible with very sensitive cameras.” According to the study, the light involved is extremely weak, ranging from 10 to 1,000 photons per square centimetre per second across a spectral range of 200 to 1,000 nanometres. For comparison, a nanometre is one-billionth of a metre and is commonly used to measure wavelengths of light. Detecting emissions at such low levels requires highly specialized equipment. To study the phenomenon, researchers used electron-multiplying charge-coupled device (EMCCD) and charge-coupled device (CCD) cameras. These imaging systems are designed to detect extremely small amounts of light, including individual photons, while minimizing background noise. The technology allowed researchers to capture signals that would otherwise be impossible to observe. The team worked with the Human Health Therapeutics Research Centre at the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) in Ottawa to examine photon emissions in mice. Researchers took two-hour exposure images of the animals before and after death and compared the results. “We saw that the level of light that they emit – this biophoton glow – is distinctly different between living and dead animals,” says Dr. Daniel Oblak, PhD, an associate professor in Physics and Astronomy and the corresponding author of the study. The images showed a clear decrease in photon emissions after death across the entire body of each mouse. According to the researchers, this provided direct evidence that living and dead tissue produce different levels of ultraweak photon emission. “It’s a very small amount and it’s, of course, very tricky to detect,” Oblak says. The study grew out of discussions between Simon, whose research interests include quantum biology, and Oblak, whose work focuses on detecting light for quantum communication experiments. Quantum biology is a field that explores whether processes described by quantum physics, which studies matter and energy at very small scales, may also play a role in living systems. “Since I work as a quantum physicist on light detection for quantum communication, I thought that experimentally we have a lot of the tools to be able to detect the light,” Oblak explains. The researchers also investigated UPE in plants and found that the light changed in response to stress. When plants were exposed to higher temperatures or physically injured, their photon emissions increased. Chemical treatments also affected the glow. Among the substances tested, the local anesthetic benzocaine produced the strongest emission response when applied to injured plant tissue. These findings suggest that ultraweak photon emission is closely linked to biochemical and metabolic activity inside living organisms. Metabolism refers to the chemical reactions that allow cells and organisms to stay alive and function. Because these reactions change when an organism experiences stress, injury or disease, researchers believe UPE may provide a way to monitor those changes. The researchers stress that the glow is a physical and biological phenomenon, not a metaphysical one. Oblak says more research is needed to understand exactly how the light is produced and what information it may reveal about the condition of living tissue. “We must understand what that is to figure out what’s happening,” he says. “If we can understand how that relates to certain influences on the body – stress, diseases – then that could be used as a diagnostic tool.” The researchers believe the technique could eventually help scientists study health and disease without invasive procedures. Because UPE can be measured without adding dyes, markers or labels, it may offer a way to monitor whether tissue is healthy, damaged or alive. In plants, it could help researchers better understand how organisms respond to injury, heat and other forms of stress. While the work is still in its early stages, the study demonstrates that ultraweak photon emission imaging can provide a non-invasive and label-free way to observe biological activity. Researchers say the approach could become a useful tool for studying vitality, stress responses and other important processes in both animals and plants. • Rufus 4.15.2393 Beta 2 by Razvan Serea Rufus is a small utility that helps format and create bootable USB flash drives, such as USB keys/pendrives, memory sticks, etc. Despite its small size, Rufus provides everything you need! Oh, and Rufus is fast. For instance it's about twice as fast as UNetbootin, Universal USB Installer or Windows 7 USB download tool, on the creation of a Windows 7 USB installation drive from an ISO (with honorable mention to WiNToBootic for managing to keep up). It is also marginally faster on the creation of Linux bootable USBs from ISOs. A non-exhaustive list of Rufus supported ISOs is available here. It can be especially useful for cases where: you need to create USB installation media from bootable ISOs (Windows, Linux, UEFI, etc.) you need to work on a system that doesn't have an OS installed you need to flash a BIOS or other firmware from DOS you want to run a low-level utility Rufus 4.15.2393 Beta 2 changelog: Add RISC-V 64 support to UEFI:NTFS Improve the guards for using the "silent" option Improve the ability to cancel during write retries Improve progress reporting for compressed image extraction Fix unrestricted XML entity expansion and integer overflow in ezxml parser (courtesy of @esadowski4) [GHSA-55r2-34wg-8mv9] Fix "silent" Windows installation failing at 75% in most cases [#2960] Fix a crash during boot when using UEFI:NTFS on Snapdragon X based ARM64 platforms [#2934] Fix the first WUE option always being checked by default [#2965] Fix an infinite loop when using Windows ISOs that contain multiple WIMs Fix "Enable runtime UEFI media validation" checkbox not always being properly enabled Other WUE improvements/fixes for OneDrive removal and username validation (with thanks to @christian8641) [#2984, #2991] Download: Rufus 4.15 Beta 2 | 1.9 MB (Open Source) Links: Rufus Home Page | Project Page @GitHub | Screenshot Get alerted to all of our Software updates on Twitter at @NeowinSoftware
