So called 'friends' on XBL

Recommended Posts

I think they believe that you betrayed their trust, by gaining their phone numbers/photos under what they think is a false pretense (i.e. that you're a girl.)

Maybe tell them you're gay :p

they knew i was male as we used to voice chat everyday

btw this is my avatar

n600368880_1167023_8803.jpg and no im not a cross dresser or a tranny lol i thought it would be fun to have a girl avatar

Ok so heres the deal

i used to play a few games with a close nit group of friends from Aus and US before the new dashboard came out, and all was going well, then the new dashboard came out and i made a cool female avatar ( as you most of you know im a male) but i just think the female ones are nicer, hence why i have one, but anyway we got on really well. Now at this point i must point out that the people i was playing with was all girls (yes i know rare) but i thought cool either way, we got talking swapped photos and even telephone numbers.

Now i havnt been on XBL for 2 days due to birthdays and jobs, but ive found out that they have all removed me and when i asked why all i got was a reply saying i was 'weird'. We had been playing various arcade games and getting on well for around 2-3 weeks then this.

I cant get my head round it at all, now they have taken to sending me voice messages and its got to the point where ive had to report them.

Talk about so called friends? bollocks to them, think i'll stick to my PC community and be done, sorry about the rant i just had to get it off my chest... talking about chest.. does anyone want my Flu bug?

It amazes me people get upset with "cyber" friends. If you have that much of an issue with "cyber" friends maybe you need to go outside and meet some real people. No offense, but people you meet on video games, should not mess with your emotions.

The funniest thing is both your surprise at their reaction, and the big drama you've made it out to be. I had to double check your age because I didn't want to be so blunt to a 14 year old who perhaps doesn't understand the way of the world, you're 27.

there is no drama at all i just wanted to get it off my chest, why do people always think that i want to vent anger, i just posted for voicing my thoughts am i not allowed to do that anymore? guess not

why are people laying into me over this, the post wasnt ment in a sad or geek way i just wanted to voice my thoughts, but as typical neowin threads are turning into a arguments as normal there has been alot of this recently

EDIT: also if you had noticed i but friends in a quote so to me that would signify that they where not real friends

Here's a thought, girls talk (Y) :p

They might have talked when you weren't around and thought to themselves there is something more sinister with you dressing like a female and being much older than them. It's definitely not "normal" behaviour, even on XBL..

guys with female avatars always creep me out. sorry but if you want to be a women in a virtual game i question everything about your manhood.

LOL for real. there is absolutely no reason to have a girl avatar. it's your own doing that got you removed from their frineds list. use common sense rofl.

the thing is, that LOOKS like a cross dresser, it dosnt even look like a girl.

whatever, if everyone was the same the world would be a boring place, i'll do what i wanna do and it people have a issue with that then bugger em

thats a good way to live, and its fine that you want to do that but you have to also accept that other people might see it being weird.

Sorry buddy, I agree with this camp as well. As a guy, I find it strange if another guy has a female avatar. First, I wonder why, secondly... it's just odd.

While I would go as far as thinking you're a tranny or cross-dresser, I definitely question your motive.

Sure you can say that you find the females to have more options, etc... but I think the general consensus of making an avatar is to make one that represents you, be it how you look or your personal style. I imagine that to be the population's mindset.

So when you, decidedly, to be out of the norm, you're different. As you should know by now, people don't like 'different'. Sorry, but that's just the way it is.

I see where they're coming from, actually. By you creating a female avatar you're essentially a cross-dresser on some level or other. Weirdo. :p

Haha reminds me of when I used to play asherons call back in the day and I had a character called "Richard the Mage" but made it a female model. Got some weird reactions from that =D

    • too bad the "backend" June 2026 ESD files are still at build 26200.8653 and not at the correct build 26200.8655 release. I'll avoid using the MCT for several weeks until late July 2026
    • Qualcomm's new Snapdragon Reality Elite chip brings on-device AI to Android XR devices by Pradeep Viswanathan Qualcomm has been delivering dedicated SoCs for mixed reality and spatial computing devices for several years. The journey started with the Snapdragon XR1, followed by the Snapdragon XR2 in 2019, the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 in September 2023, and finally the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 in 2024. Today, Qualcomm announced a major upgrade with the new Snapdragon Reality Elite Platform, which targets premium mixed reality and spatial computing devices. OEMs can use this SoC to power both all-in-one video-see-through headsets and lightweight, tethered optical-see-through glasses. Qualcomm highlighted that the Snapdragon Reality Elite will power the next wave of Android XR devices coming later this year. These wearables will offer better visuals, improved power efficiency, and deeper on-device AI integration compared to the previous generation. The Snapdragon Reality Elite can deliver up to 48 TOPS of AI performance, allowing large language models and large vision models to run directly on the device for the first time. In addition to enabling new spatial AI experiences, these new AI capabilities will improve head and hand tracking, as well as see-through features. On the performance side, the Snapdragon Reality Elite offers up to 60% higher GPU performance, up to 30% higher CPU performance, and up to 160% higher NPU performance compared to the previous generation. The platform supports visuals of up to 4.4K per eye at 90 frames per second for sharper images and smoother motion. Qualcomm is also claiming significant efficiency improvements. The Snapdragon Reality Elite can offer up to 20% longer battery life under the same workload. More importantly, the chipset can run up to 12 degrees Celsius cooler under load, making headsets more comfortable for users to wear for longer periods. The platform also includes improvements to video see-through, featuring lower latency and better image quality. Qualcomm states that its EVA hardware block helps accelerate demanding computer vision workloads, improving how digital content blends with the real world.
    • Umm... GitHub continues to use AWS. That's the story, that's the headline. There's no "new" news here. GitHub continues to require additional capacity beyond the originally-planned Azure allocations. There's nothing special about this; nothing noteworthy. They're still using AWS' infra until the cutover is complete.
