Uncharted 2

Like I said on the last page, TR has never been about shooting or blowing **** up. It's included it yeah when the series nose dived at the end of the 90's/early 2000's. Ever since Crystal Dynamics took over though it has definitely been on the right track (Y)

Well if that's the case stop saying Uncharted is Tomb Raider minus...

:p

But yeah, we'll be playing this next year :)

I don't think anyone buys their warez

I don't know what your implying. ;)

Yeah cause the whole journalism industry is doing that (Y)

So Uncharted is nothing new or special. It's Tomb Raider with a male character, vastly less puzzles (dumb ones at that) and in a jungle setting. Ironyyyyy

The real irony is everyone is throwing accolades at anything remotely popular to get hits/readers. :p

What Tomb Raider has in puzzles it lacks by the bucket loads in story and action, which is where Uncharted excels imo. Crystal Dynamics seems to be doing a good job though, that's for sure (except maybe Legend).

I'm loving the new snow setting in that magazine cover, be really nice to see a good mix of environments in Uncharted 2.

If I want a 3D platform/puzzler there's no question I'd buy TRU. If I want a TPS with fancy graphics then Uncharted.

How many times do I have to say it dude?

TR = puzzles & platforming

Uncharted = action / TPS

Back in 1997/8 I couldn't give a rats ass about the story in TR 1 & 2. I still don't care about it today, I just enjoy the puzzle gameplay.

I can't wait to see your comments if Uncharted 2 turns out to be a hit. I wonder if you'll still be playing the broken record on "throwing around awards just to get hits/readers" ;)

Oh but wait, this is PS3 so its ok

Jog on (Y)

If.... if... IF???

Of course it's gonna be a hit, it's Naughty Dog!

Dun dun dun dun dunnnnn...

To the rescue!

Okay, enough sugary juice for me, I'm off to bed

Ok we can settle it now. We all know GOW2 will win between it and any Uncharted game. It goes without saying obviously. :p

No crystal ball required for that prediction!

If I'm wrong, I will sell my 360. You have my word :p

Yeah GOW2 has already won, no contest (considering how everyone is raving on about it). However, personally I don't find GOW2 that special, boring even. Uncharted was awesome and I really like the Tomb Raider games as well :) for me Uncharted 2 (and TR:Underworld) are must buys for me, while GOW2 was meh (got GOW and it was good then got boring very fast :/ )

So I can't wait for Uncharted 2 to be released (and TR:Underworld, it sucks they are making us Aussies wait longer! - while yes I could get TRU now from say Steam, but with the fact the Aussie dollar is practically worthless :p it's much cheaper to just wait for the Aussie release)

zomg that would be awesome

Those were the days! *wet dream*

Heh.

I played the first Spyro a couple of months ago, while the graphics are a good bit ugly now, the game was still great fun to play. :D

I never got the second though but had the third, will have to look into that me thinks, maybe ebay.

That's generally how opinions work right? You agree with some things and disagree with others. I reserve the right to be cynical on the game reviewing industry too thanks, god knows I've read enough of them.

Jog on (Y)

LOL, that's so 90's school playground talk.

Man, I would love it if Naughty Dog and Insomniac both made a good Spyro and Crash Bandicoot games again, would be awesome!

I'm still waiting for a new Crash Team Racing game!

Croc and Crash Bandicoot were the first games I played on my PS1  Going from the Megadrive to that was just wow.

I'm really annoyed / angry at the mess they've made of Crash Bandicoot. No idea how the new Spyro game has turned out but the screenshots I posted a couple of months ago looked pretty good. I'm not holding out on much since Insomniac didn't make it of course.

Yes that is how double standard opinions work, you are correct (Y) It's not cool when it's a game on the 360 to get good reviews / sales. If it's the PS3 then zomg break open the champagne!

mmmmno...

90's school playground talk ftw!

Anyway I'm done with this topic! :)

Um Naughty Dog don't do Crash anymore

Keef the Thief 1989
Rings of Power 1991 Sega Mega Drive/Genesis
Way of the Warrior 1995 3DO

Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back 1997 PlayStation
Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped 1998 PlayStation

And Jak is a great platformer!

The 360 has tons of great games that got equally great reviews.

You were done earlier btw. :p

But wait, there's more! Game Informer's January issue will also feature Uncharted 2 -- and they're calling it: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. According to GI, the sequel will involve the 13th century explorer Marco Polo and his voyages. New mechanics in the sequel include a free climbing mechanic and stealth gameplay. Check out the cover, also after the break.

I already posted that Audio. :p

And I hope the stealth parts mentioned are not forced, so something like MGS4 where we can be stealthy, but can also shoot the crap out of everything. :D

w00t.gif w00t.gif Cant wait for this game. I hope Elena and Sully are in this game too.

Better be!

OMG Croc!

What a cute but thoroughly enjoyable game.

I lost that game a long time ago, pity.

They don't make games like that any more.

Surely with the tools these days and compression, someone could make some simple games like that, but with the length in only a few months, and release them digitally.

Oh well, those times have passed.

People don't seem to be happy with mindless silly little games like that any more.

Our VGA ad will also premiere on the air tomorrow, Tuesday, December 2, at 9:25 PM during UFC Unleashed on Spike.

TV add tomorrow night might have some more footage!

Also for those that care, Spike has 8 world premieres to show - http://www.spike.com/blog/world-premieres/70766

Obviously one of the 8 is Uncharted 2, let's hope there's some other good stuff! Being a premiere doesn't mean the game can't be "announced" (Uncharted 2 was confirmed a while ago), so I pray like mad GoW3 would appear... but that's CRAZY talk!

Gawwwdd with the double posting. :p

But hopefully there will be some corkers!

But I don't expect a GoW3, I would assume Sony would save that title up for a bit.

And did we ever see what game it was that the BBC reporter was talking about that looked amazing? people thought it was Heavy Rain, but he said it wasn't

OMFG! I love Uncharted (which I've played through on every difficulty to try and unlock everything) and can't wait for the sequel. When is it out? The first was such an awesome game and is waaaaayyyyyyy better than Tomb Raider. The first Uncharted is even better than the new TR.

    • Microsoft finally admits its default Windows 11 25H2, 24H2 action broke key legacy component by Sayan Sen Microsoft last week released Windows 11 KB5094126 and KB5093998 as the latest Patch Tuesday updates. Following that the company also published the accompanying dynamic updates under KB5094149, KB5095971, and KB5094156. So far the company has acknowledged two known issues that have popped up after the release which include bugged-out Office apps as well as the Recycle Bin; though there could be more at play too. Speaking of bugs and issues, Microsoft seems to have finally acknowledged a problem that probably has been around for close to a year. That's because back in July of 2025 the company made a default change to the latest Windows 11 versions, wherein it switched to JScript9Legacy on Windows 11 24H2 and later releases. Hence following the release of version 25H2 in October 2025, JScript9Legacy also remained default-enabled. As a result there has been a compatibility issue ever since then. For those wondering, by switching to JScript9Legacy Microsoft intended to improve the security of modern Windows PCs by reducing vulnerabilities tied to legacy scripting like cross-site scripting (XSS), among others. XSS exploits can allow cyber-attackers to attach malicious code onto legitimate websites and use them to execute the code when a potential victim loads such a website. Hence the new JScript9Legacy engine enforced stricter execution policies and improved object handling, which should help mitigate such attacks. Microsoft today has published a new support article detailing the problem. Neowin spotted it while browsing. The company says that JScript global definitions and execution context may fail to persist across scripts, potentially breaking older dependent apps and web-based components that relied on this legacy behavior. In the article Microsoft has confirmed that the issue stems from its move away from the older jscript9.dll engine in favor of jscript9legacy.dll. As mentioned above, while the newer engine was designed to address vulnerabilities and strengthen security it also changes how JScript handles execution context. As a result functions and definitions loaded by one script could no longer remain available to subsequent scripts once execution ended. The company notes that some applications worked correctly on earlier Windows versions because the older JScript engine automatically retained global definitions and execution state between scripts. Under the newer model though that behavior is disabled by default causing certain legacy workloads and polyfill-dependent scripts to fail. Microsoft says it addressed the problem via the KB5077241 update though the fix had not been enabled automatically in the following updates. As such admins must explicitly turn on persistent JScript execution context using a Registry setting that the tech giant shared today. The configuration can be applied to individual processes or system-wide through the FEATURE_ENABLE_PERSISTENCE registry key. The steps have been outlined below: Run the following command to create the feature control registry key: reg add "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_ENABLE_PERSISTENCE" Under this key, create a new DWORD (32-bit) value. Configure the value as follows: To enable persistence for specific processes only: Set the value to 1 for each target process name. To enable persistence for all processes: Add * as the key name and set its value to 1. You can find the official support article here on Microsoft's website.
