Uncharted 2

Because people then either think

a) Expansion pack

b) Remake

or a favourite around here when Motorstorm Pacific Rift came out

c) Half-baked, just an update to MS1 as it has no "2" in the title

Which of course is pretty wrong, seeing as it improved on the 1st game in everyway :p

It also bugs me when they put the sequel number in films, guess its just a pet hate. Imagine if they called the latest Bond flick, Bond 22: Quantum of Solace. LOL. Ahem, anyway.

Just my opinion! Just cause you've played it doesn't mean you're right :p

Have you played the full game though, or just the demo?

Quite harsh to be calling it half-baked if you haven't given the game a go. But fair enough, you can say what you want :p

Just challenging your opinion of it being half-baked as I've played the game and it's packed with content, and improves on MS1 in nearly every way, a game which was pretty half-baked for a racer (missing splitscreen, custom playlists, etc).

I actually don't think it's half baked to be honest. I should have explained that others were calling it half baked cause they didn't feel their was enough changes (something I can agree on). I liked what they did with MPR but for me it didn't warrant a buy with so many other good games out right now. I'll probably buy it cheap like Uncharted and Ratchet this time next year

So yeah to cut an arguement short, I liked the changes, but wasn't worth it imo (Y)

Yeah man, that's fine, I just found the half-baked comments a little harsh on it.

I started off on it, never played MS1 - Although since getting PR I've tried the retail copy of MS1 from a friend.

It improved with things like 4 player splitscreen, better online, much better track variety split into fire/water/wind/earth which is quite cool, more race modes, better variety in vehicles and their designs, longer tracklist, custom music, etc, etc.

I got it for ?20, really good purchase because it's pretty polished. I'd give it a solid 8, or 8.5. It's an arcadey racer, I prefer simulation so I wouldn't score it higher than things like Forza of GT, but it's a lot of fun.

I recommend you pick it up when it's cheaper for sure.

MS1 has probably left a bitter taste in my mouth too (even although I didn't actually set out to buy it, it was part of my bundle), but it just infuriated me more than anything. I really really dislike games which have the "slow down crash" feature, I don't want to see the car blow up, I wanna race and catch up! Arghh! (That goes for Burnout especially, POS games )

Sorry :p

IIRC, OPM called it half-baked, that it seemed like Motorstorm 1.5. I'm gonna assume they played it, and are not 360 fanboys ;)

Hm. For Burnout Paradise (only Burnout I've played) the crashes were fun. Made ****ing up fun. As opposed to Midnight Club:LA, where it goes into a lame slo-mo crash, with cheesy ragdoll action if you were on a bike.

I had a friend over to play Paradise a couple weeks ago (he's a total Midnight Club on 360 fanboy), and his jaw dropped during the first accident we had.

Well there we are then, case closed :p

I've played both of those (and probably every Burnout theres been) and I still don't like it :p It can look as pretty as it wants, but it just gets in the way imo when all I want to do is drive. I don't want to crash and I especially don't want to sit for 5 seconds until the crash is over. Plus I only like/play car sims anyway (Y)

Motorstorm 2 is far from half baked! The OPM didn't say anything of the sort either from what I remember

Yup, pretty much touches on my complaints earlier about slow-mo crashes. It just doesn't make for a fun game.

Looking very good! :D

There's a God of War 3 trailers on the same site actually for those interested.

Damn, awesome :woot:

And a confirmed 2009 release!

uncharted looks nice, the main char is even more detailed, but for god of war.... still needs a lot of work to look like a real PS3 game ;p

It doesn't look bad

It's still early though plently of time left in development. People bitch about developers using CG early on, then when they do show early footage gamers tend to tear it apart like the footage should somehow represent what the final build, 12 months later should be like. And you wonder why devs use CG? :p

It looks awesome  :woot:

A painting come to life? No..

It looks on par with GoW2 imo, but its not out for ages so it'll improve no doubt :)

FWIW,

I think this looks pretty good. So you know where my barometer sits.

BUT this is not- as I said last week- the stuff I was/am talking about.

I stand by my comments and am eager for Sony to get some of that stunning PAINTING QUALITY footage out asap...just to prove I ain't bull****ting folks.

    • "just $100 per TB"? Just? Are we trying to make this seem like the new normal? Kinda weird to make it sound like that is not a ridiculously expensive asking price.
    • The reviews you refer to mean nothing. Where there is no journalism there is no reason to call the gaming media's opinion pieces "reviews". For GP games there is indeed a metric for success - increasing subscriptions. Which turns in revenue. The only circumstance in which subs do not rise when great is being released is a Game Pass system where the company is close to fully saturated with customers in a subscription. However, in that case as the theory goes you spend aplenty in all kind of games - from shady live service cash cows and customer offending agitprop crap in purple colours to robust and entertaining single player games. And keep a solid level of profitability. Ignoring the simply innocuous but mid games MGS has released primarily of the second kind.
    • Report: Microsoft to use AWS to help GitHub deal with a major surge in demand by Pradeep Viswanathan Thanks to the surge of coding AI agents, GitHub's usage has skyrocketed over the past 12 months. To meet this demand, GitHub started with a plan in October 2025 to increase capacity by 10x. However, by early this year, the company realized that it needed 30x scale. This rapid growth has caused severe strain on the platform's reliability, resulting in several small outages over the past few months. In April, GitHub published a long blog post explaining the steps it is taking to resolve these reliability issues. In the post, the company also confirmed that it is working toward a multi-cloud architecture for better resilience. Today, Business Insider reported that GitHub is turning to Amazon Web Services to help deal with a major surge in AI-driven coding activity. It is important to note that GitHub is still in the process of moving completely to the Azure cloud. The current plan is to move the platform fully to Azure by 2027 so that it can scale better as per developer demand. Therefore, the current decision to utilize AWS might be part of a short-term plan to meet immediate demand. A Microsoft spokesperson confirmed that GitHub is using multiple cloud providers with the following statement: For Microsoft, the decision highlights the operational pressure behind the AI boom. GitHub has to stay reliable for developers at a time when rivals such as Codex, Cursor, Claude Code, and other AI coding tools are gaining attention. And the decision to use AWS for computing capacity seems practical given the circumstances.
