  • 3 weeks later...

My wife has:

Hp Desktop with an AMD dual core 4200+ 2gig RAM

Dell Inspiron 1000 512mb RAM

I have:

Gateway Solo Laptop 233mhz that came with W98. Now it has stripped version of XP, a 'Dell' Wireless card, 30gig HDD(maximum)

Toshiba A75 3.0gig with 1.5gig RAM. Also a stripped version of XP. (Standard Windows gets so bloated after a few months.)

Acer 5570z with Vista uninstalled, but now runs Ubuntu 8.04 LTS. With Vista gone, this computer "actually" runs rather well. It's a Duo Core that I believe runs at 1.6ghz

My Desktops:

I built/rebuilt an AthlonXP AMD +2200 running at 1.8ghz. Since this is a test box it is always in a state of parts being swapped out.

I built from new and used parts a P4, 3.0gig, and 2gig RAM. This is a full tower with only 3 SATE HDD's at the moment. 3 optical drives too. 480w PSU.

I built from new and used parts an AMD 3700 that runs faster than you think, I'm still in the finishing stage.

I've got to reassemble another AthlonXP running about 1.6ghz from parts on hand.

Compaq 6000 desktop - I need to install an IDE HDD and scrounge around for some RAM that is hiding in my shop.

For my Grandson I have a P4 Gateway 500s, with 512RAM, (PC133 I think?)

Lastly, a P166 with a 15gig HDD, 80mb EDO RAM, CD ROM, running Windows 2000. The only money I put in this unit was for one card that had 2 PS2 slots along with 2 USB slots(total $15usd).

I know that sounds like a lot of hardware, but most of it was scavenged from numerous computers being thrown away or given to me if I could save as much data as possible. With the price of computers, people are willing to buy new ones and scrap older units. I tell them that whatever they decide to do, let me wipe clean their hard drives for their own protection. Then the next thing you know I have a pile of computer parts...

One.

    • Nvidia 610.62 driver lands with big bug fixes and Empulse support by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe There is a new driver available for Nvidia GeForce hardware owners, and it's carrying a whole lot of bug fixes. The WHQL-certified 610.62 Game Ready driver is also adding support for Empulse. Empulse lands from 1047 Games. • After enabling it in about:config, customize, density, compact; the toolbar/address bar gets smaller vertically. I enabled Nova, I notice the tab bar/title bar is a bit larger vertically now? Everything always becomes a waste of space.
