You got your Xbox 360 controller in my PS3

Recommended Posts

*shrug* I'm sure it takes him some time to make them, so mass production may not be what he's after.

But $500?!

I can almost buy a PS3 and mod it into a 360's case for that price

Yeah I have the RealTriggers as well (I actually may have a different brand but maybe not), but those little pieces of plastic really make the world of difference. With that said, I want this personally.

So can it be ordered yet? I am not sure going by their site and the sites they link to, it makes it seem like it is available but then I see no links to actual purchase it?? If there is a link to buy it and I am missing it, please post it here.

But yeah, 360 controller on my PS3, Killzone coming out in a few months, goes without saying I would love for this thing to actually work and work good. I will get one in a heartbeat.

But Larry, I thought there was nothing wrong with the Dual Shock / Sixaxis in FPS?:p

360 controller ftw :p

@ Ayepecks, in RFOM & RFOM2 they let you map the buttons how you like. I imagine they'll do the same in Killzone 2. Not sure what the other multi platform games are like with their controller options, I always buy them on the 360!

There is nothing wrong with it IMO, but I have stated several times I prefer the 360 controller over it, no doubt.

FTR, I will be getting one of these to review for the site, got the confirmation today, and hopefully will have it before X Mas. I will put up my review a day within getting it.

That's sweet, did you just email the guys?

Cause most of the devices they sell run pretty expensive.

Yes indeed. I have written for the site, let them know my focus is gaming, so was all legit.

I know, just fooling around after our last discussion on the topic :p

I know. :p

Oh man this is great news!

I hate the PS3 controllers, I'm definitely picking one of these up if they work

Hold off for my review that I will put up on the Main Gamers News if you can. According to the email I received, I should be receiving it by X-Mas, which is when they stated it will be hitting retail. I will say I have had people say they would give me a review model of something and I never receive it for whatever reason, but hopefully that does not happen here.

So the review should be timely, and I also told them I have all intentions of telling members here the blatant truth, so if it sucks, I will say so, and if it is good, I will also say so. I do not do reviews just to make good relationships with people to get more review items, I do reviews to help the members here. I was crystal clear with telling them this, , so I have a feeling that says something right there as they still agreed to send one out. So if you can, I would say hold off and like I said I will do my review within a day of receiving it the latest as I know a lot of people here are looking forward to getting this if it does work.

I'm glad to hear we'll be getting a review DL. I agree that it's a positive sign that they're still sending one out - they have confidence in their product. And if it's good there'll be another small batch of business through us lot.

I found this over at PS3 Center (picture in the article linked):

New Adapter allows 360 Controller to be used with PS3

Ever since the PS3 launched, there has been a variety of complaints about the controller. While the amount of people who actually dislike it has been fairly small, most will agree that the triggers and size of the controller could use a bit of work. Larger hands often have trouble gripping onto DualShock3, and holding the triggers down for a racing game can sometimes make fingers begin to hurt. A number of people have simply said that they prefer the 360?s more ergonomically styled controller to Sony?s offering.

Those people should look into buying the XCM Cross Battle adapter, which allows a wired 360 controller to be used with a PS3. There are some drawbacks, such as not being able to use SixAxis control, being constrained by a wire, and the 360?s god awful D-pad, but many will appreciate having the option to choose which controller they use.

The XCM Cross Battle adapter costs a penny less than $40, and is scheduled to ship prior to Christmas week. If you?re still doing some last minute shopping, this may be a great gift for a gamer with both a PS3 and 360. You can order the adapter here.

Review here - http://www.loadingreality.com/index.php?op...&Itemid=142

Reviewer is pretty happy, here's the cons though

* Rumble: The CBA does not transmit rumble, or at least any rumble I was aware of, but if I have gone this long without a vibrating PS3 controller, I think I can survive a still 360 controller, too.

* Tilt Control: It goes without saying that you lose tilt control when you use the CBA. So, games like Lair and Warhark will either be handicapped or unplayable. But that's really a case by case issue. At least the CBA knows what to do in the absence of a tilt sensor and doesn't act erratically.

* The Ring of Light: The 360 ring on the controller does not show player position and continuously flashes.

* At the Mercy of Design: Developers make the decision how to map buttons and rarely offer freely-remappable schemes. If PS3 dev says "Fire with R1 because it's better than the trigger", you can't do anything but push RB. However, this is no fault of XCM. Their device does exactly what it should. Blame Sony for making the Sixaxis the way they did and forcing developers to make these decisions. So, it follows naturally that games that use gas and primary fire on the triggers will benefit the most from this device.

The ring of light would probably annoy me with the continuous flashing :/

Therefore if it's just triggers annoying you, I'd just grab some $3 giotek real triggers. Or else you could go with this if you're cool living with any cons.

Yeah I could live with the flashing, it woudn't be hard to cover it up or remove the LED's (the extreme).

I didn't expect the controls to be mappable but its still disappointing. Especially when Insomniacs for instance choose a ridiculous layout for R1/R2.

I know you can remap the controls, its the first thing I did when I played the game.

I think I've misread the review though. Does PS3 software allow you to remap controls just like you would using a DS3 / Sixaxis? (providing the game allows it of course)

Did you hear anything from them again Larry?

Cool man, I'll look forward to that (Y)

Last I hear was an email from them saying they did not make the Holidays deadline, and I should have my review unit in the first 10 days of January.

Since I leave for Vegas later tonight to cover CES for the site, they may miss me reviewing it in the next week.

    • Windows 11 KB5094126, KB5093998 bugging out Office apps but it may not be Microsoft's fault by Sayan Sen Microsoft last week released Windows 11 KB5094126 and KB5093998 as the latest Patch Tuesday updates. Following that the company also published the accompanying dynamic updates under KB5094149, KB5095971, and KB5094156. Although the tech giant did not acknowledge any major problems, some users online reported various issues ranging from OneDrive and Dropbox access problems, BitLocker recovery lockouts, to blue screens and BSODs. You can read about them in this dedicated piece. While there is still no confirmation about those problems from Microsoft the company has admitted to another bug which we did not report on. The tech giant has confirmed it has received reports of an issue in which certain third-party applications may be unable to launch Microsoft Office apps or open Office documents after installing the Patch Tuesday. This affects both Windows 11 as well as Windows 10. The company says the problem impacts a subset of applications that rely on OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) automation to communicate with Microsoft Office programs. According to Microsoft, affected scenarios involve third-party software attempting to open Office applications or documents from within their own interface. In such cases, the Office program may fail to launch altogether, or the requested document may not open. Oddly there may not be any error message, which probably makes the issue difficult to diagnose. The bug affects several Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and other apps in the Microsoft Office suite when they are launched through the affected software. These include tax and accounting software such as CCH Engagement and Workpaper Manager, dental practice management solutions like Dentrix and Softdent, as well as the popular research and reference management tool Zotero. Microsoft adds that other applications using similar Office integration methods could also experience the same problematic behavior. To understand the issue it is important to look at OLE, the Microsoft technology involved. OLE allows different applications to work together and share data, while its Automation feature lets one program control another. Thus this enables third-party software to launch Microsoft Office apps, open documents, and perform tasks automatically without requiring users to switch between programs. Because many accounting, healthcare, research, and business applications rely on OLE automation to interact with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Office apps, any disruption can break those workflows. As a result, affected software may be unable to open Office documents or launch Office applications even though the programs themselves continue to work normally. At the moment the company has not provided a permanent fix though it has confirmed that engineers are actively working on a resolution, which will be delivered through a future Windows update. As such additional details will be shared once more information becomes available. In the meantime, Microsoft recommends a simple workaround for affected users whic is to open the Office application or document directly rather than launching it through the third-party program. For enterprise customers and organizations managing larger deployments, Microsoft says an additional mitigation is available. Admins experiencing the problem on their managed devices are advised to contact Microsoft Support for business to obtain and apply the workaround.
