Heroes Volume 4 : Fugitives

I actually really liked this episode. It seems to be getting better to me. And I didn't find Claire as annoying as I have lately, which is a nice change.

And OMGZ YES! Daphne's not dead! (I just saw the post above)

great episode tonight.. So glad they got the new writers, show is getting better and better each week.

Unless I'm mistaken, the new writers aren't having any effect on the show until about 5 more episodes or so.

And now that I've seen the episode, my comments:

For the half dozen time, Claire does something stupid and finally realizes, for the same number of times, that her actions actually have consequences! Whodathunkit!?

Throwing in the need of Homeland Security checking on them was odd because Nathan supposedly provided enough proof to start this already failing operation, and then someone is needed to get a hold on things and make sure things are up to snuff?

I'm really not liking how they're making Hiro even more immature than he originally was when the show started. So far, he's been more effective and in tune with the situation when he thought he was 10 than any other moment. I'm all for his funny stuff, but moping around like a brat because he wants to be the hero, have powers, etc? Give it a rest already, this guy should be having a more matured attitude by now after what he's gone through.

As it stands, the mission to India was a waste. Convince someone to not marry another person, to what end? Surely this side quest has larger implications that to prevent a girl from marrying a guy she didn't love. Only time will tell to see if this plays out to any purpose except for Hiro to realize something he should've known since the first season: that he can be a hero without his powers.

Then there's Tracy, who isn't a bad gal, intentionally killing someone, proving the point that people with abilities are dangerous. "Help me, but I'll kill someone because I'm mad." Eh?

All in all, it was a decent episode, I'm just not sure how much longer the government can actually run this thing considering it's largely been a failure.

The WORKING title for Episode 3x23 has been confirmed as 1961.

The 1961 title would make sense based on the casting calls about all of the "young" Company members. Working titles are common when writers are working on scripts and they are subject to change.

So as soon as we have anything more, we will let you all know, but for right now we will stick to 1961.

Here is a summary for you all to enjoy!!

1) They confirm who will appear in this Volume: Micah (Yes!), Monica (Maybe), Barbara and West (No), and Adam (He turned into dust)

2) During the transport plane crash when Peter absorbs Tracy's powers, in was an accident and like Season 1 Peter is still "trying to get a handle on his powers"

3) They are done writing Volume 4 and they give the following tidbits as to what to expect: Bridge. Tunnel. 1961. Sylar’s Father.

4) They confirm that it is great to have BSG writer Mark Verheiden on staff

5) In regards to the Molly/Arthur scene that was cut earlier in the season, no we will not see any affects of that scene. Not a part of the "canon"

6) No plans to see the other "specials" that were on the transport plane and several will killed in the crash including the one that got sucked out.

7) Episode 3x17 - Will provide us with more details about Daphne

8) Someone asked about more clarification about Peter's abilities here is their answer: "This is all just an expansion of Peter’s powers to absorb them on at a time. It’s going to take some time for him to get used to them."

9) Yes Sylar can absorb Luke's power via empathic mimicry

10) They confirm that "The Rebellion" will track down Sylar to get his help against Nathan, which could lead to the future we saw in Season 1 with Sylar replacing Nathan.

11) More about Peter's ability: "Peter needed to reconnect with his empathy. Something he’s been sorely lacking since this adventure began. Maybe this is the universe telling him he needs to go back to his old ways. "

12) As posted earlier today: The working title for Episode 3x23 is 1961 and we will learn more about The Company's origins in this episode

13) Sylar used Bridget's ability of clairsentience in Episode 3x05 and will use it again in two weeks (I assume this means Episode 3x18)

14) We will learn more about the Hunter, Primatech and HRG in Episode 3x17

1) I WANT Monica!!

2) I KNEW it Baby!

3) Sylar's father is gonna be interesting

4) As long as writing is good, I don't care who writes it.

5) I MISS Molly (NOT in a Child-Perverted way) ;)

6) Not really a biggie.

7) Hope she is still Alive

8) #2

9) Sylar is the Man

10) So Interesting

11) This Again? #2, #8!!!!

12) Very cool

13) Yes!

14) Good

2) During the transport plane crash when Peter absorbs Tracy's powers, in was an accident and like Season 1 Peter is still "trying to get a handle on his powers"

Give me a break. It's been a while since the explosion above NYC, why does he still have to get a handle on his powers? In the alternate timeline, a year after the explosion, he had as good a handle as Sylar (see the comic where he and Hiro break other specials out of a prison), and here we are today, further into the future than that, and we're told he still needs to learn? What a joke.

11) More about Peter's ability: "Peter needed to reconnect with his empathy. Something he?s been sorely lacking since this adventure began. Maybe this is the universe telling him he needs to go back to his old ways. "

So, they're hinting that Peter will learn to have more than one power? This would be another retarded decision if they go this route.

12) As posted earlier today: The working title for Episode 3x23 is 1961 and we will learn more about The Company's origins in this episode

Wasn't volume 2 supposed to be all about this? Ah well, they totally botched that so I guess there's more to tell after all.

I kinda figured that Peter wouldn't be limited to just one power forever, as it'd totally nerf him and the show. I look forward to seeing how it develops.

Mathachew, since it continually disappoints you, why do you tune in each week with such a critical eye. It's 45 mins of escapism entertainment, don't take it so seriously

Huh, I am pretty sure he is learning a NEW power, he never experience the same Before!

His father took his old power away, and he injected himself with BRAND NEW power, he still NEW to!

Whether it's gaining an ability by being around a person or by touching them, the end result is the same, so there's no reason why he should be learning to get a handle on anything.

And we've been through this before, the formula shouldn't be introducing new powers, it should be restoring the ones genetically encoded in a person.

Mathachew, since it continually disappoints you, why do you tune in each week with such a critical eye. It's 45 mins of escapism entertainment, don't take it so seriously

Because the bar that the first season set has yet to be met by everything that has aired since then. It's running itself into the ground, which is most disappointing of all. Besides, I said the episode was decent, I didn't have nearly as many issues with this one as I had with the last few. I'd like, at the very least, for the show to make some kind of sense, like someone stating who Sylar's father is so that Luke or his mom would know who the heck his father actually is.

    • Waymo recalls self-driving software after cars enter closed freeway work zones by Paul Hill Waymo, the self-driving car maker owned by Alphabet – the parent company of Google –, has recalled some of its fifth-generation Automated Driving Systems (ADS). It did so after some of its cars drove through closed construction zones. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the affected vehicles were capable of driving through a closed freeway construction zone and continuing to drive at speed. The listing on the NHTSA website says that Waymo is currently developing a solution to fix this issue, but in the meantime, freeway driving is being restricted. Waymo will update its ADS software so that vehicles can detect when they can avoid entering construction zones. According to the Safety Recall Report, on April 20, 2026, Waymo’s Field Safety Committee began meetings reviewing an event from April 11, 2026, and five events from April 19, 2026, where Waymo’s autonomous vehicles didn’t recognize and drove past ramp closure signs into the pre-planned freeway construction zones. This took place in Phoenix, Arizona. Separately, on May 18, 2026, seven Waymo vehicles entered freeway lanes with active construction in the San Francisco Bay Area by driving between cones that were placed to show the lane was closed. On the back of both of these events, Waymo restricted freeway driving until it could address the issue. In June, Waymo’s Safety Board reviewed the issue and additional information related to ADS performances around construction zones; then, as a result, it decided to conduct a recall. This development is not good for Waymo as it adds to a growing list of technical hiccups its cars have experienced. Ultimately, it will lead to more scrutiny from lawmakers around the world who will be more cautious about letting autonomous vehicles on their roads without tighter regulation. For readers in areas where Waymo operates, does this news make you more wary about stepping into one of these vehicles?
    • I'm still on Windows 10 22H2 because I didn't want to deal with all the issues in Windows 11, so I waited almost a week before installing the latest Patch Tuesday update (KB5094127), I went ahead and did it, and it was a huge mistake—ever since then, my File Explorer has seen a performance drop of about 30% when transferring large files... Once again, Microsoft has outdone itself! This update cannot be uninstalled, either through the Control Panel (via Settings) or by accessing Advanced Startup Options. The only possible alternative would be to use system restore points, but I’d have to reinstall all app and driver updates (and there’s no guarantee it would work). Or there’s the “nuclear option” of a in-place repair without losing files or apps, but even then, all my customizations would be lost! Microsoft just can’t help but mess everything up! Way to go, Microsoft! But I still don’t want your c****y Windows 11!
    • Microsoft: Windows 11 could finally solve a major issue across AMD, Nvidia, and Intel GPUs by Sayan Sen While Microsoft has been trying to improve it, Windows 11 is definitely not flawless, as even today some issues are taking a year to publicly acknowledge. However, one area of trouble that may finally see much better results soon is graphics driver crashes. Work on graphics driver timeouts, also called Timeout and Detection Recovery (TDR), is not new as the latest WDDM 3.2 also has specific improvements regarding it. Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) version 3.2 is supported on Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2. However, with the upcoming version 26H2, TDR crash diagnosis could go to the next level as Microsoft is introducing a new DirectX 12 API feature called "DirectX Dump Files". Similar to how system memory dump files work when a system crashes or freezes or encounters any such major issue, DirectX Dump Files (DDF) will essentially record a snapshot of the GPU execution right at the moment a graphics-related crash or hang or freeze occurs, so that developers can better understand and diagnoze these TDR and timeout detection errors. The dump will be available as a .dxdmp file for analysis and it will be a comprehensive dump file generated with detailed insights about the hardware, drivers, Windows, as well as the affected application. This should be another welcome change in this department. Earlier at GDC 2026, when the technology was first debuted, Microsoft had shared more details regarding it. The company had explained how DDF is designed to gather data from every layer of the graphics stack into a single file, eliminating the need for developers to manually correlate logs from multiple tools. As mentioned above, the dump can contain a lot of useful details like GPU hardware state information such as register values, shader program counters, page fault virtual addresses, shader memory data, and command buffers. Alongside that, it also captures DirectX runtime and kernel information, including D3D objects, pipeline state objects, device error data, adapter details, and CPU call stacks. Microsoft says the feature has been built around two primary use cases: retail device removals and local device removals. The former allows developers to collect crash information from end users' systems in the field, while the latter helps QA teams and developers investigate issues on test machines. Developers will also be able to include up to 2 MB of custom application data through new D3D12 APIs, providing additional context for troubleshooting. In addition, Microsoft is introducing three dump collection modes ranging from zero-overhead capture, which has no runtime performance impact on supported hardware, to higher-detail modes that collect more vendor-specific debugging data. On compatible Tier 2 hardware, zero-overhead dumps will be enabled by default, meaning developers may begin receiving useful crash diagnostics without making any code changes. The table below explains the three tiers: Tier Description NO_OVERHEAD Enables crash capture with no runtime cost and is suitable for broad deployment MEDIUM_OVERHEAD Provides a balance, capturing additional diagnostic data with moderate impact HIGH_OVERHEAD Collects the most detailed GPU and driver state available, enabling deeper investigation at the cost of higher runtime overhead In terms of availability, the company expects broader release to be around the fall of 2026, which should be right around the time when Windows 11 version 26H2 lands. Right now, DirectX Dump Files are available as a preview and currently, only AMD has the compatible AgilitySDK Developer Preview driver version 26.10.07.02. You can find the official announcement post here on Microsoft's website.
