MP3 Problem solved! :)

To protect your MP3 files

1. Before you install this Beta release, back up all MP3 files that might be accessed by the computer, including those on removable media or network shares.

2. Install the Beta release of Windows 7; download and install the Update to Windows 7 Beta (KB961367) located on this page.

Okay, why the Chinese Technet? I would assume that the United States Technet already has Windows 7 unless they've planned to have the Chinese be the first peope able to obtain a copy.

Anyways, I would again assume that only the people are subscriber's to Microsoft Technet (A program for IT Professionals), and Microsoft MSDN (A program for Microsoft Developers). They pay for this kind of previlages, and Microsoft want valuable feedback. If I was developing such a huge project for many people around the world I would not accept any feedback consisting "I wub Windows Seven!!!W".

Now if they do allow the public, and I mean the general public to receive the copy legally then I would advise to use your time, and give them your own experience with it. They don't need your system specifications as they receive a lot of details of your system through their program you send your feedback with. :)

The new Internet Explorer, can translate text pretty fast. Neat. Hopefully that gets out of beta soon.

Are there any new info what it takes to run 7 nicely? Apparently it's to use less stuff then vista, but I wanna know what it will run on smoothly.

I have P4 @ 3.0ghz, 2gig ram, and an 8400gs, anyone have any experience with speed wise?

From the windows blog:

On January 9th, the Windows 7 Beta will be available for Windows enthusiasts to download via the Windows 7 page on Windows.com. The Windows 7 Beta is going to be available download-only (we?re not sending out physical media) anavailable for a limited time to the first 2.5 million people who download the beta.b>

Are they intentionally trying to crash their own servers?

W00t???

But he probably will spend a lot of time showing Windows 7. The OS is now "feature complete" and a new beta will be available for the general public to try out on Friday. Microsoft will cap the beta after about the first 2.5 million downloads. Microsoft developers, including MSDN, TechNet and TechBeta subscribers, will be able to download the beta Wednesday night, two days earlier than the general public, Beilinson said.

The minimum recommended hardware for the beta includes a 1GHz processor, 1GB of system memory, 16GB of available disk space and support for DX9 graphics with 128MB of memory (to enable the Aero theme), Microsoft said. The recommendations may change for the final product, it said.

Microsoft isn't updating its official ship date for Windows 7, which is still early 2010, though some pundits expect it to ship in time for the busy back to school season later this year.

Does that number mean total number of downloads including subscribers who have access to it now, or just downloads after its open to the public?

And wtf at Tripod singing horribly during the keynote.

    • LOL. Can't even quote and edit a comment correctly. Figures you're a Linux user.
    • I have disabled it, but the app is still taking space. I have a Mac and it is only possible to disable Ai on that, but I think that bit does get rid of the AI components after a while. What we are told is that we agree to all this when we use the devices as it is in the end user agreements, their software, they can do what they like. I doubt that any bill will happen in the U.S, the government there are in league with big tech firms. The E.U maybe, they seem to have some guts when it comes to tech companies. The U.K is not in the E.U, but some things still affect us. Our government is as gutless when it comes to tech companies as the U.s government.

A major compiler is used for both x86/x64 and WoA64 architectures. This also means that all core libraries are re-compiled accordingly which required some changes in the build scripts. One of the core libraries (cURL) has been updated to address vulnerabilities and a nasty linker error that was causing the need for a dedicated patch which could now be eliminated.
