A very good point thealexweb, there are other ways to activate Windows 7 ;). I'll let you work out the rest. :p

Hynesy you are right there are other way, but if you want to be a beta tester then submitting stuff to Microsoft, the best way is to do everything legit, byt the books.

So I only need a 64 bit key?

Still don't have that though LOL

Yes that is right, keep trying it does work

Like i said i'm the silly one whos been trying since 6:30am till now 11:25pm australia time, but i have accomplished my goal, 2 keys, 1 for me and one for backup :)

Thats correct man, we do hard work in these forums lol once they have their key they will be gone, i'm a beta tester so i will test software and help people on this forum :)

I shall not vanish :p I got 2 keys, 1 for backup. i'm all good to goto sleep now.

;) 11:18PM here in Australia, AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE

Ahh your lucky, I'm from australia aswell and I haven't had any luck at all with getting a key,

I think I'll give up, Australia has the worst internet ever, I've been trying c4c for 8 hours plus the hours I spent f5ing it, I need some sleep lol

Check out this article from Whirlpool. Seems to be successful and it means you can go to bed and have a key waiting for you when you wake up. http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/wiki/?tag=Windows7

Still nothing.... I managed to go to sleep and wake up and still nothing, I would have thought that by now they would have made it working....

But hey, I got a letter from em regarding Windows 7, it was about "thanx for applying for beta testing but servers are currently down so wait....." :/

Isn't this the same as c4c? Using c4c my links always get redirected after a little while

the phone activation doesn't seem to be an option, only online activation

Take a look at this. Although that is for Vista, it seems to be the exact same method. Works as others have confirmed.

The important part is to enter some random 15-digit key during the install process. Then, after installing it will come out as invalid key with the phone option available.

    • NVIDIA officially supports Ubuntu, as linked above with the GeForce NOW Hands on I did in collaboration with Paul Hill.
    • TO be clear I am not running linux today, however I keep thinking about it. And I want to make sure there are minimal obstacles if I decide to make that switch in the coming months.
    • Yes, I actually glossed over the Linux part from the OP. You could always go for a 9070 XT and if you really want to play Ray Traced games in the future, GeForce Now is pretty damn good on Linux https://www.neowin.net/news/nvidias-native-geforce-now-app-for-linux-bridges-the-gaming-gap-hands-on/
    • One reason it might be running hotter is dust build up within the cooling or perhaps the paste has dried out. You could always try repasting your old GPU and cleaning the cooler. Your experience in Linux will be much better with an AMD GPU; the performance in gaming is much closer to Windows than nVidia would be. I personally think on Windows, AMD drivers are junk.
    • I reviewed it back in March, but I didn't have a 5070 at the time https://www.neowin.net/reviews/amd-rx-9070-review-vs-rtx-5070-4070-and-rx-9070-xt-7800-xt--just-good-enough/ When I reviewed the 9070 I did have a 5070 to compare it against, so the scores are there for the 9070 XT. it outperforms the 5070 in raster, and is barely neck and neck in Ray Tracing. So it's better than a 5070 in everything but Ray Tracing where it is neck and neck, or just under. To be honest, the uplift from 3080 when it was new to the 9070 XT is not as great a step up. If you can find a used 4080 Super for around the same money, you would probably be better off, but if you only want to buy new then the 16GB 9070 XT is the best value for money in its category.
