Server Busy Errors

Recommended Posts

glad to see that everything is back up and running - and in such a timely fashion too

good job guys

Lets just say you don't attack a website with some of the best techies around :p

You may just find them on your doorstep, and not very happy lol

somebody seems way to eager to fight :p

Your link just takes me to https://www.neowin.net as if the article isn't found?

You posted this - https://www.neowin.net/index.php?act=view&a...gain)%252005-25

I suspect the thread is linked to a staff only/restricted permissions area? I get the same error where it redirects to 'Neowin.net'. :)

That must be, because the link works for me. Anyways, the story was posted:

Neobond wrote on 25 May 2003:

Right now Neowin is swamped, slow, and sometimes gives "Server too busy" messages. This started a couple of hours ago and I expect this to continue for as long as the datacenter (rackshack) allows it and eventually pulls the plug (routing to our server). This is caused by yet another DoS (Denial of Service) attack where a person is sending 1000's of packets to common ports on our server (in this case apache) The person doing this goes by the name of kidd0 who is 12 years old (yea I know). He was banned for breaking the rules some time ago and has since recruited another member from Neowin who relayed threats and admissions of previous DoS attacks for kidd0 until he was also banned from here. Additionally the site has also started to use newslogos from Neowin without permission or credit yet surprisingly they do source some of our news stories.

I don't usually post information relating to these types of attacks but since they are happening too frequently lately with no end in sight and resulting in downtime of up to 48 hours for some visitors I felt it was only fair to tell everyone why they can't browse the site properly. kidd0 has made no secret and has admitted at a number of sites for being responsible for downtimes at Neowin and other sites.

Its a shame that this kid has way too much power (controls some sort of zombie trojan on 1000's of infected PC's) and nothing better to do than destroy the same type of community that he appears to duplicate at his own site. I feel pretty powerless and fed up at the same time. So if I don't answer your emails or PM's demanding to know why you can't get to the site or why your IP was "blocked" its because the routing will be disabled again which means there will be downtime before people can access the site again.

IPS (Invision Power Services, our host) are aware of this, so please don't bother to bombard them with emails, they are also doing what they can to rectify the situation.

On behalf of the Neowin Team, Thanks for your continued patience and support, I hope this is sorted soon.

how the hell can a kid of 12 do summin like that??? you sure he was actually 12?

i wouldnt even know where to begin to do that rnow at 21 :o lol

Google, a grudge, Pixie sticks, and too much Coca Cola make an evil combination. If you can learn how to make a bomb online, you can find out how to DoS attack someone

There is plenty of places to find out the info needed. To be fair thoguh Neowin was taken off guard and it was the first attack against the site iirc. Or at least the first "big" attack. The company hosting it didn't exactly act quickly on the matter too I think?

Was quite a while ago now..

I don't know what you are talking about.

Really? I heard you were the ring leader behind the "witch hunt" ;P

Any idea when the forum will return to normal? Currently having major issues reading the forum, it does one of three things

1. Times out

2. Displays the forum thread with no formatting (makes for interesting reading and deciphering)

3. Takes more than 9 gazillion hours to load a thread.

In all seriousness is this just down to the amount of new users, topics, replies and everything else under the sun relating to Windows 7 and other general use of the forum?

Strange, I am just left with loading pages still, no matter what forum/subforum I am in... :/

May try restarting a few things :(

The forum seems very responsive on my end. You might want to refresh or clear your cache. Might help

This topic is now closed to further replies.

Particularly, Nothing Ear (a) and CMF Buds Pro 2 wireless earbuds have dropped to their lowest price ever with limited Prime deal offering 33% and 24% discounts, respectively. Nothing Ear (a) are equipped with 11mm dynamic drivers featuring a PM1 + TPU diaphragm. For noise control, the earbuds offer active noise cancellation (ANC) of up to 45dB across frequencies reaching 5,000Hz. The smart ANC algorithm adapts to surrounding noise levels, while a Transparency Mode allows users to remain aware of their environment when needed. Connectivity is handled via Bluetooth 5.3, with support for AAC, SBC, and LDAC audio codecs. Additional features include IP54-rated earbuds for dust and splash resistance, paired with an IPX2-rated charging case. Furthermore, users also benefit from pinch controls, in-ear detection, Google Fast Pair, Microsoft Swift Pair, dual-device connectivity, and a low-latency mode designed for gaming and video playback. The Nothing X app unlocks a range of customisation options, including a personalised equaliser, bass enhancement, control remapping, ear tip fit testing, firmware updates, dual-device management, a Find My Earbuds feature, and low-latency mode settings. When it comes to the battery, the earbuds house a 46mAh lithium-ion battery, while the charging case contains a 500mAh cell. With ANC disabled, users can expect up to 9.5 hours of playback from the earbuds and up to 42.5 hours in total with the charging case. With ANC enabled, battery life is rated at up to 5.5 hours per charge and up to 24.5 hours combined with the case. Finally, fast charging is also supported that should provide up to 10 hours of playback from a 10-minute charge with ANC turned off. Nothing Ear (a) Wireless Earbuds (Black): $53.20 (Amazon US) - 33% The CMF Buds Pro 2 feature a dual-driver audio system consisting of an 11mm bass driver and a 6mm micro-planar tweeter. They further support active noise cancellation of up to 50dB across a frequency range of up to 5,000Hz, and noise control features include a Smart ANC algorithm, Adaptive ANC, Transparency Mode, and Clear Voice Technology 2.0. For calls, the CMF Buds Pro 2 use a total of six microphones and feature an environmental noise-cancelling algorithm, Clear Voice Technology 3.0, and Wind Noise Reduction 3.0 that should improve voice clarity during conversations. Furthermore, when it comes to the connectivity, it is provided through Bluetooth 5.4. The earbuds contain a 60mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery, while the charging case houses a 460mAh battery. A full charge of the earbuds and case via USB-C should take approximately 85 minutes, while the earbuds alone should be fully recharged in the case in around 60 minutes. Battery life is rated at up to 11 hours of playback on a single charge and up to 43 hours with the charging case when ANC is turned off. With ANC enabled, playback time is reduced to up to 6.5 hours on the earbuds and up to 26 hours with the charging case. • The entire world moved to the vastly superior and now universally supported Dolby Atmos technology a very long time ago, mate.
    • Insane. This is as crazy as COVID back in 2020, where you could go back one year in time and tell them that everybody's gonna be locked in and now with memory that your old computer was going to be worth more tomorrow
    • "Bad Pool Caller" meaning one of your software is trying to change memory it doesn't own, in a memory pool that's it ,nothing to do with Windows
