pretty much always gets higher scores than kaspersky & nod in tests, and it's just as light on resources. plus it has a free version :D

It's the least problematic a/v I've used.

first off let me feign shock that youre a NOD fanboy *gasp*

second i thought i wouldnt bore you with sterile error messages, theyve been documented by other poor souls in nod forums whove tried and failed to get it running on even clean xp systems.

thirdly, and lets get real here, if the nod people ever wanted to find out where all the users of pirated copies of their software congregate, they need not look any further than any of the countless polls that ive already mentioned are the home of nod fanboys. And to get really REAL here, the reason theyre fanboys is because an alarming percentage (id guess better than 60% and im being conservative folks) of those fanboys are fanboys because theyve found they can run their nod without paying, and somethign you get for free (or circumvent paying for) always feels great and consequently makes you positive about it. Its the most pirated av software around. At least i paid for mine, tested it, saw it failed miserably and got a refund.

lets see you try and dismiss that last point.....im waiting.....

and for the record the Apple analogy is valid as both are cockeyed flat earth believers for no valid reason other than to try and appear superior. ive at least recommend at least 4 different products ive used...ever see an apple user, or an nod user (usually a software thief) do the same...anywhere? thought not

Went and bought the new Norton Antivirus 2009.... i am shocked at how improved it is.

ClamWin -> it's free and open source and IMO a powerful tool if used properly.

no yes man was in reference to the general forum mentality in this topic, people just seem to avoid any real discourse because its easier to roll out another meaningless poll to pass the time

had nothing to do with any person with any preference for any av product being a follower, its about nod32 zealots who just happen to also be software pirates and anyone having a difference or giving a theory as to why it always polls high being treated like hes "worked up"

I've used most of the AVs on this list and have to say, Kaspersky and NOD32 are best IMO. I've never had AV problems with either AV, efficiency is exceedingly good and the overall look and feel is sweet. I'm currently using NOD32. (trial)

I liked nod32 back when it was 2.7.

Haven't used 3.x since.

Might give it a go when I see it go for $13 /year subscription.

I am currently using AntiVir free edition. Use common sense, that's what I will advice. Whenever you install something from a warez site, keep your Windows CD with key handy.

I tried the new Kaspersky, which was one of the 3 recommended for Windows 7. I thought it was absolute rubbish! I switched over to NOD32 and it's very minimalistic and does the job without bothering me.

yes, everything is subjective. even the "professional" AV tests, but that doesn't make them useless

as for me, i've been using Avira free for the past year or so. although i'm very interested in how Sunbelt's VIPRE turns out :yes:

According to some articles I've read, NOD 32 is not as effective as it used to be. I used Norton Internet Security 2009 when it was beta and was amazed at the performance, speed and effectiveness. Symantec have really got their AV products back into shape after a three year absence. Don't believe me? Read the reviews. Give the free trial a go and like many others over the past few months, you'll dump your NOD and Kaspersky offerings for a far superior product

Still using Avast since I switched to it from AVG. AVG failed me, let a nasty virus in that infected every running process - including the AVG process itself. Nothing like an AV program reporting that itself is infected and cannot clean itself. Switched to Avast and it has never once let me down...

I once checked out Trend, didn't like it so went to uninstall. Uninstallation took hours and left so many files and through my computer. Won't do that again
