Lost faith in Nod32 also. It let through 2 trojans and did nothing. Both of which AVG Pro 8 picked up as well as some sort of autorun.inf rubbish.

I know I shouldn't jump to conclusions and switch to another product, but I did - after much thought and testing.

AVG Pro v.8 is really really great, although I nearly chose Avira.

People should be allowed to change their vote. The poll doesn't really give an accurate representation as software constantly changes, people votes might change as well.

Which is why these sorts of threads of life spans. After a couple of months it is deleted and another is made, kind of like the U.S. presidency. (2 terms max, then new president)

I voted KIS8. (Y)

Personally, I have tried them all. When Vista came out, I was in search of the AV/Security suite with the best performance and memory utilization. I tried all of them, and settled on NOD32, but later switched that to Kaspersky. I've been using Kaspersky for over a year without a problem. Memory footprint was good and the system load time was not affected much. I use Avast Free on my Windows 7 beta box, but I found AVG to be a negative experience compared to Avast. However it is Tax time here in the US, and there are tons of AV products you can get free after rebate with purchase of Tax Software. I'll grab another Kaspersky for my family, and I think I will get the new Norton as well...just in case. :)

Well, yet another NOD32 Fanboy. But, at least I have a reason.

I have ran every single AV that is out there [mainstream] and out of all of them, my criteria was

Small

Silent

Superior [8 years virus free to date, but I want to be sure that in case I slip, its there to catch me.]

Control [if I don't want the dang Taskbar icon, then I want to be able to disable it. Period!]

NOD32, F T W.

I have changed programs many times through the years. If how long you've been using one is a qualifier as being an expert as some think, so they take shots at supposed fan boys, I've used them back when the only thing available was the original Norton and the original PC Tools. McAfee wasn't even thunk of then. Norton su**ed then and always has. I'll never get talked into trying it again. A couple times I fell victim to the, "Fred, it is really good this time" cra* and made the BIG mistake. Through my ISP I can get up to 7 copies of the registered McAfee Suite for free, one for each possible e-mail address, and I tried it and could not get it off fast enough. Again, I was told it was better this time and I tried it again and removed it again.

Right now I use a multi program attack with Avira as the main fighter. Maybe later that will change.

Earlier tonight I removed the ANTIVIRUS 2009 thing from my mother-in-laws laptop. The latest McAfee let it walk right by on to her system. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware cleaned it right up. I trashed McAfee from her system, just a couple hours ago, so my dislike for it is very fresh.

I'm using Kaspersky Internet Security 2009. The best I've used in a long time. Very easy on resources and doesn't slow anything down. Has a nice alert box that will ask you about online detections. Nice auto features so you don't have to mess with it all the time.

    • If the drive/memory is soldered to the board, which it probably is, then it's a no from me

    • We do it all the time on our IT Service desk mailbox to add a reference, in the subject line, once it's been logged and then it's filed into the appropriate sub-folder. Other companies probably do the same thing.
    • "No. The "New Outlook for Windows" does not support non-cloud mailboxes (such as on-premises Exchange servers). Furthermore, because the New Outlook effectively functions as a web-based client, it requires all connected accounts—even standard IMAP or POP accounts—to route and cache data through Microsoft's cloud servers. You can verify the accepted account setups using the Microsoft Supported Account Types Guide." Built to fail "New" Outlook is basically just webmail in a window wrapper and it's usefulness reflects that.
